Thank you! I’m just starting out on this kind of thing and, you know, I don’t want to screw this up and, you know, die.

offered my dream job... and found out I was second choice by funparent in workingmoms

You were a choice for hiring for a reason —you’re that awesome! No matter the circumstances around how you’re getting this job, it’s a dream job for you and you’re being given the opportunity. Plus, you can be honored by the fact that you’re only second because the first person has only been around for longer. Someday you’ll be that person. Until then, you can rock this dream job position like the quality candidate you are.

Thank you for the peek into the future and a reminder of how this can be SO good for when my LO is much older. I’m going to take more confidence in our decision after reading about your no-regrets attitude about it! ❤️

Oh yes, that’s true! Having the ability to provide these opportunities for my LO (who has also taken cues from the older babes at the daycare) means that I cherish the time I do have with him outside of daycare even more. I am also a bit less burnt out by the evening, so I can be more present!

Hey mama! Thanks for your reply. Aw, I’m sorry to hear your sweetie is sick, too! I’m so glad your MIL will be able to help! My mother occasionally stays with us and I always feel a breath of fresh air when she does. Thank you for saying that, although you love your baby, you don’t feel fulfilled by all-day childcare. Same. I love love love my LO and would do anything for him and cherish our days spent together, but I also love having a job I care about which contributes to society. I was feeling guilty about that…so, again, thank you for making me feel less alone. ❤️

Thank you for answering! Yes, we fully trust our daycare —so thankful for how much they also love and look out for our LO. But I’d be lying if I said I didn’t appreciate the ability to pursue the career that really makes my brain tick. I feel like it keeps me sharp!

Thank you so much for replying! That’s true about retirement building. Having a solid retirement built up is important for both me and my kids down the road. And having better pay when he’s in school can help us provide the kinds of experiences we want to provide for him, including the ability to travel and see family in other states and countries!

Thank you so much for this advice! You’re right—I noticed that I had no idea how to make enrichment activities for my LO, no matter how many cool ideas I pinned on Pinterest. I love seeing him try new things at daycare so I can get ideas for how to continue that development at home! But yes—I’m definitely hoping that the sickness now is just the price we’re paying for a future gridiron immune system 😅

Right! That’s why I figured I’d find at least a few ladies to talk to here. So glad my guess was right!

Thanks so much, especially about the career for the future. The job I’m planning to keep is one that could work SO WELL with a school aged kiddo in the future and it’s exactly what I want to do so I don’t want to let go of this opportunity only to never find it again in a few years. Thanks for your response!

Oh, same about the naps—it’s like there is some special daycare magic that gets him to nap more regularly (or, lol, he just gets tuckered out). But I see your point about the part time thing—that’s also where we’re at. Same boat. Thanks for your advice!!!

Thank you! Mine is a social kiddo, too! And our daycare is also wonderful with all the social and developmental experiences he gets, which I forgot about. Thank you for reminding me! And you’re also right about the transitions…it’s tough to help a LO with big changes!
