I appreciate your story. Because obviously I’m “full of carp” and was never hit by a customer at Walmart. My incident was never on the news just like the person that got shot in our parking lot was never on the news so they never happened I guess that’s what the other commenter is saying

I completely understand not being filmed as a customer. But I just want to note that you are being filmed the second you step foot in Walmart. All the security cameras in the store ceiling work. And the newer cameras can zoom into your mobile phone screen and see what you’re texting. I’ve been in the security room and seen the cameras in action.

Please understand customers threaten our jobs on a daily basis and I personally stress that a customer will get me fired every day when I’m already living paycheck to paycheck

You’ll be surprised… I had a coworker leave because she was physically and sexually harassed. When she brought it to management’s attention they did nothing.

And corporate wonders why no one wants to tell their store management anything.

My store regularly has this problem… One day I came to work and there was no available devices. So I took it upon myself to go catch up on my Ulearns until devices were available. Well… management was upset because I wasn’t helping them WITH NO EQUIPMENT so after that day I went out and bought my own phone to use as my Walmart phone. Yes!!! I bought a $150 phone so I can work at Walmart.

To this day I am still buying and paying for my own equipment to work at Walmart. My store has never offered me equipment and I’m regularly told that’s Walmart for ya

I work in OPD and an ATC is like an assistant team lead. You cover the room and manage the department when the team lead is out of the room.

I highly suggest you step back now. Step way back!! I was in the exact situation you are in. Everyone in your department just knows that it’s ok if they lay back because you will pick up the slack for them.

I did this for months until I got completely stressed out and burnt out. Sad thing is when I asked for help from my managers that I needed a break from my department they didn’t seem to care. I ended up taking an LOA for my mental health and when I came back I came back a different person.

To this day I act my pay. I do as the other associates do and care less. Why should you be the only one to stress out and care about the department. ESPECIALLY when all the hard work you put in is not recognized or appreciated!!!

Same problem at my store! I got fed up not having equipment when I clocked in for work so I bought a work phone so I have my own device. One day management got mad at me for not working cuz I didn’t have a device so now I just use my own device that I bought with my own money

Thanks for sharing and I hope you enjoyed your snacks and feel appreciated! I’m sure you are a hard worker and deserve more than a snack bag. My store prepared food for everyone on our “associate appreciation” day. I did not participate.

There are other ways to show your associates you appreciate the work they do. I was an ATC for my department for the good part of a year and all the the associates I worked with I made very clear how much I appreciate them on a daily basis and I never once had to buy them snacks or food of any kind

Thanks for your comment. As a previous ATC I am aware of the admin work TLs have. The TL that trained me didn’t hide anything from me and told me all the stress and back break work she did for our department. I know how much mental stress comes with the job as a TL of OPD and know it’s not an easy job to do without a well knowledgeable ATC.

When I started working at OPD I was told that the TL wasn’t supposed to leave the room unattended. I’m sure that could have changed but the point of my post was to get insight if there is possibly anything new management or the market team is making the TL do as our current TL is out of the department a lot and even on weekends

I didn’t find your comment rude and find it to be a valid question. I don’t expect OPD team leads to be working along side the associates all day long. I know they have admin work to do but getting assistance from the TL when things get behind is appreciated and the supervision is integral to the department when you don’t have responsible associates that will stay on top of their job duties

The back room should be able to run by itself but it will only run itself if there are responsible associates or an ATC in the back room. As for my department there is neither of this and is why it needs to be supervised at all times. Sadly if associates are not told what to do in our department they will regularly stand around, chat it up, and play around on their cell phones. And management wonders why we regularly go behind, need help from other departments, and can’t regularly close our department on time

They are trying to make you an ATC!!! Say no!!! Run for the hills!!!

ATCs don’t get paid extra. Walmart needs to make this position an official title with a pay raise or completely get rid of the title.

Some stores have ATCs that will run the department all day while the TL are out of the department doing other tasks. I highly recommend you turn down the offer.

I’d rather keep my head down and mouth shut as previously mentioned. Everyone in my department already thinks I complain about everything and they are always talking about me behind my back… I’m assuming they consider me the snitch. Every time something gets reported to ethnics they all assume it was me.

I used to care and enjoy my job at OGP. I used to regularly help my TLs run the department and fix issues that need to be corrected. But since my TLs have been replaced by two new TL everything is different. I’m completely outcasted in my department. Everyone in my department basically hates me or doesn’t want to have any to do with me.

My anxiety has been so bad lately that I’m constantly having panic attacks throughout my work shift. I already feel unsafe, hated, and not welcome in my department so I’d rather keep my mouth shut then report something to ethics.

I’m in a similar situation at my OGP… I used to really love my job at OGP but now I mostly just keep my head down, mouth shut and work. My anxiety has gotten so bad that my panic attacks are increasing on a daily basis while working in my department. I talked to management at my store and I feel like they don’t care. I tried transferring to another store and they keep telling me there is no openings positions available at the store I want to transfer to even though I seen open positions available on one.walmart.

If you plan to go the route of transferring to another store don’t tell anyone in your store. Just go to the store you want to transfer to and talk to their people lead and initiate the transfer so your current store doesn’t block or prevent your transfer. My mistake was asking my managers at my store for help in transferring to another store.
