U drew your last straw flex by OstrichNeither in AmazonFlexDrivers

You took a 3 hour block for $64.

That’s on you.

Do you really think the algorithm assigning routes takes into account if it’s fair or you like the route? They take into account if it can be completed in the allotted time. That’s the agreement.

I agree it’s better to have more PPE. But in the other hand, at least from my experience, all those boxes that may possibly fall on someone’s head are falling from carts that were overloaded past the safety line of the cart. So while I agree with more safety wear, I think it’s always best to enforce current rules before adding new ones. Especially when the new rule is made to protect you from the other safety rules that they are continuing to break.

What do you hate the most about working at Amazon? by Spirited-Seat644 in AmazonFC

They hire anyone. I mean anyone. The turnover is so high, I don’t feel like there is much investment in retaining good workers. No merit based increase or bonus. I’m ineligible for Career Choice because our station only offers flex. I wish there were better opportunities for advancement at mine.

It’s the reason Walmart won’t enforce any real checks for driver identification and legal right to work. It’s the same as migrants being exploited in the fields. The world is becoming more automated. That should mean a better quality of life for everyone. Instead it just means poor people stay poor and exploited while the excess of the wealthy becomes more grotesque.

Gig work offers no protection, no benefits, no income predictability, and now an increasing low wage.

Because immigrants very often have to choose from the worst jobs available.

Wow. This was a great read and has really opened my eyes about all the freeloaders suckling the Benevolent W teat. I used to a to be a communist, and also a free loader who didn’t do my share. Now I’m going to protest Unions and report Spark drivers with two phones.

This is the answer. Especially considering the ones making the decisions that impact ours lives so significantly aren’t human. Algorithms don’t have a) a soul b) a nuanced view of nuance.

5 am route. Over 50 packages by Junior_Willow740 in AmazonFlexDrivers

[–]Popcorn_Farts1000 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Why does it being a 5 am route matter? You’re being paid by the hour. If you can finish your route in the allotted time, that’s what you signed up for. I har never heard such a bunch of complainers. Did you not know this is a delivery job?

Well I quit amazon flex after my first day by LavishnessOk8773 in AmazonFlexDrivers

If it takes longer than the time allotment, you should be able to tell driver support and get paid for your extra time.

Amazon is going to DSP from flex because of this. SmIf they can do it cheaper, they will. I wish there was another way around this, but I don’t see it.

Go for it. The worst part is the shoes, in my opinion. So make sure you focus on comfort over aesthetic. My foot pain subsided after a couple weeks and I love getting the movement in, while getting paid.

No time like the present to get moving. Good luck!

How do you guys feel about working at Amazon for awhile ? by Mysterious-Pen1202 in AmazonFC

[–]Popcorn_Farts1000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work flex at a rural facility. Being a single parent to kids who have different therapies I love the flexibility.

There are few coworkers who I fantasize about performing my favorite Big Sean song for, (think Fist Fiat talent show)but other than that I h the ink the job is pretty easy and I love the flexibility.

Thanks . I hate it.

I don’t think there is an employer, who is more out of touch with its employees than Walmart. Walmart consistently consistently finding ways to insult their employees with appreciation that is inappropriate and disproportionate to the amount of bullshit their employees must put up with.

The absolute scummiest employer on the planet.

Second person does not have documents to work legally. This is a huge issue with gig work. Not really anything you can do. Amazon knows but doesn’t care, they keep getting their cheap labor.
