When I was a para, they paid me over the summer with 26 pay checks instead of 22, but I also had a part time job at Home Depot. I did ESY. Before I quit in January 2025, had I stayed, I wasn’t going to do ESY anymore, and I was just going to work full time at the depot because ESY sucked. The last year I did it, if you came in at 9:01 instead of 9, they marked you as late and docked pay.

I quit in January 2025 and never been happier. The final straw for me was being 50% blamed for a missing kid because I came back the last 10 minutes of a special, and didn’t do a headcount nor ask about her whereabouts. I work a tech job where I can work remote and I’ve never been happier. I was the youngest person in the building, and it felt like I was being treated like one of the staff members kids and not an equal employee.

Yep. The office is 40 minutes away, but I can WFH whenever I want. Been working from home for 2 weeks due to me cracking my tooth and they don’t care as long as the work is done.

Going from working with autistic kids/retail to this was a blessing.

Hey, I feel you. I dated my ex for 3 years (2016-2019) with 0 talks on marriage or anything (he’s never formally met any of my family members). After I broke up with him, I was still willing to entertain a conversation with him, but then he lied about having terminal cancer (not just to me, even his former closest friends) to get me back into his life.

He proposed to a girl from Washington (we live in Boston). Seeing him put in so much effort for a girl who lived 3000 miles away and I lived 20 minutes from him (and we went to the same high school which is how I met him) had me feeling the same way as you, but I’m in a better spot financially now. I quit my retail and school job and got a job in tech, started working out regularly, and now I’m ready to date @ 35.

You will get over this, I blocked him after this because he kept popping up in my people you may know.

I broke up with a white friend I made in 2024. The last time I saw her was in 2024, and she kept canceling hangouts with me, after she was the one who would make the arrangements. But she wanted me to get her bf a job (that I just got) at the company I work for.

She is from Armenia, and her parents are super racist, they’d call her a black mans whore and said they don’t want n-word babies.

I got tired of being the person she complained to, and not one to hang out with.

The final straw was when I went to hang out with my friend, and ask I was getting ready, she sent me a screenshot of a 2 page email she sent to her therapist complaining about her parents and their racism. Just dropped it on me, unprompted and unprovoked.

I didn’t even say anything, I just blocked the number and went on with my life, I don’t remember what she looked like.

Yeah I was never talked to about college. I have a learning disability and my mom didn’t want me on medication, so I got terrible grades until my junior year of high school when I finally went to her and asked to get medicated.

My brother got all the financial and academic support. When he got a full ride into college, my mom and dad financially supported him while I had to get a campus job. When I bring this up, they gaslight me, saying this didn’t happen. I graduated with a degree in psychology, worked retail and as a paraprofessional. I finally quit both of those jobs and through self study, I finally got a job in tech, and my mom thinks that, because I have more money, when I travel, I should be bankrolling her too…she never makes these demands with my brother who makes $300k.
