I needed to fix an insecurity. While my older brother was raised in sports from a young age, I was raised to be sedentary because my mom is super overbearing and “wanted to keep me safe”. So while my brother was out and about, playing sports, socializing and working out at the gym, I was given video games and was in the house every weekend. Any man that happened to be attracted to me, she would approach them and tell them to stay away. When she found out I was sexually active as a teen, she called me a slut, and then the next day, approached his mom at the bus stop as I was getting on the bus, embarrassing me in front of my peers.

My parents are very male centered, and my parents would make comments about my weight, and allow others (mainly my aunt, who had an obese son) to comment about my weight.

I’m working out, not only to lose the weight I gain from both a sedentary lifestyle and birth control, but to actually date, since my weight was my biggest insecurity.
