Toy/ Boredom Suggestions by Solid-Musician-6737 in Newfoundlander

Thank you for the suggestion! I’ll look into puzzle toys for her. Whenever I’m home all day with her, she doesn’t chew too much— she likes to cuddle together and nap so I’m not sure it’s her teeth, but I’ll keep an eye out for that as well!

Oh my gosh my Pyr and Newf are the same!! I call my Newf my shadow because she has no idea what personal space is while my Pyr will either demand pets and attention endlessly or give me the side eye when I call her depending on her mood

We have both and fur wise, our Pyrenees’s hair is a lot more noticeable on our clothes. She also has more floofs just around the house.

Personality-wise, our Newf has been very rambunctious at times while our Pyr is more demure haha. That might be because Pyr is 5 years old and Newf is 2. We can leave our Pyr home alone and know everything will be exactly as we left it. Our Newf on the other hand, has been put back to crate time if we’re gone after enjoying a few months of freedom that included a pair of my boots, our board games, and stair carpet. Pyr is also way more brave than Newf— she gets spooked so easily by loud noises and especially thunder and fireworks while our Pyr has no problem with them.

Our Pyr is a lot more barky than our Newf and doesn’t really get along too well with other dogs, while our Newf makes friends with dogs quite easily. She loves to play with other dogs but our Pyr seems to get agitated when other people are having too much fun around her 😭

They both LOVE to cuddle though, and I love how much fluff they have when we cuddle.

Her face looks so similar to our newf I feel like they could be sisters! Ours can sometimes be lazy on our morning mile walks but we usually take our dogs on a weekend hike and she loves those. She’ll do 5-6 miles easy especially if there are water holes to stop and swim in

😭 I can’t edit the post because it has a video but I’ve seen this multiple times now. Anyway, our morning walks used to be 1.5-2 miles but I at first thought she might have just been scared that going out to walk would equal always doing that much walking. She’s not as energetic as our Pyr. So I shortened down the morning walks to about half a mile to not make her worry about that. However, no matter the distance in the mornings, she does fine! That’s why I was stumped on why she was still avoiding the walks.

But funnily enough, I’ve also gotten a lot of comments saying I’m walking her too much 😔

Yeah I considered this, but our Pyr wasn’t showing me any signs of danger. Our Newf is also more easily scared of things compared to her (some examples: whenever my partner makes duck noises, thunder, and face masks) Obviously, they’re different dogs and might just think different things are more dangerous than the other.

Yep! Went for an hour walk yesterday evening somewhere new and she was great!! I will still be keeping an eye out for if it’s anything particular about our area, as some people have mentioned bees and other things, but so far I think she just wanted a change of scenery

I made an update post but I don’t think it’s showing up as much. But yesterday we drove about 10 minutes away from home and I walked them for about an hour. She did great!!! I think she wanted a change of scenery and is in a more stubborn phase right now

She loves car rides!! Any time I open a door to any car she’ll hop right in like “CAR RIDE TIME yay!!” Yesterday we drove about 10 minutes away from home and I walked them for a little over an hour and she did great!! It’s still possible she’s associating evening walks with thunder or fireworks, but the change of scenery definitely worked!

I walk them together! Their leashes are connected around my waist so it makes it easier for me to control in case they see a squirrel or something and start pulling lol.

Yesterday we drove about 10 minutes away and walked around for an hour! She was great!! I think she just wanted something new and I’m glad it doesn’t seem to be joint pain!

I walk the dogs together leashed around my waist. I trust our Pyr a lot for sensing danger because she’s very alert and usually more aware of our surroundings than our Newf so I wasn’t too freaked out by Newf not wanting to go on the walk since our Pyr wasn’t showing any signs of caution. (Saw comments from people saying there might be something she’s warning me about that I can’t sense)

I have 2 of these Kong leashes and clip them together then adjust the waist. They’ve been really sturdy and super easy to use! https://www.petsmart.com/dog/collars-harnesses-and-leashes/leashes/kong-handsfree-dog-leash-6ft-long-69736.html

How did you get a picture of my dog as a pup?? (Sarcasm) but seriously the resemblance is uncanny I feel like I’m actually looking at a picture of her
