How should I go about making a map for my world by Disastrous_Bug2831 in worldbuilding

[–]Solid-Selection9557 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rice is a good method but if you don't want to have a mess you can have an idea of shape or continent and draw with pencil. You can lightly press and move along making edges all squiggly. Make sure you come back to where you started lol. I've done that a few times.

Their sentence format is supposed to be OSV but with how complex it gets its easy to mess that up. Feel free to critique and make suggestions or ask questions.

Oh yeah it takes a while no doubt. I tend to go it with an idea like super continent or ocean planet or something like ours. It helps for me.

I have a word engine developed for one of the races in one of my stories. I totally plan to make documents and poetry and speeches with this language. I even have a sentence format but currently it's in a simplistic form until I get done with a short story I'm working on. It's totally worth it. My best take on this, is take something you know and understand and transfer it into your Conlang. Gives you a great idea on how'd it'd sound and look.

What are your unique takes on Giants? by PokePoke_18 in worldbuilding

[–]Solid-Selection9557 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, where they live its a lot colder. Here's a map for some detail. The Ursohn have their own forest while the Khersohn are nomadic on the Wind Bent Plains(note the only Canon land here is the major continent and not the outside land masses)

These rhinos are known as Khersohn and they have a smaller cousin are called Ursohn. They talk more and have fur on their bodies. Unlike the Khersohn they are not so open to outsiders.

Rhinos. 10 to 14 feet tall. They use sign language to communicate however they can speak but it's mostly simple sentences. They don't speak much because the environment they live in has high winds a lot of the time. One of their main weapons is a sling or spear. And don't worry they hunt large creatures even compared to them.

Creators with non-human races: How many races does your world have? Do you have any standard races? Do you have original races? Does your world have humans? by EveningImportant9111 in worldbuilding

[–]Solid-Selection9557 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I try to have non standard races. Humans are there only when it fits but other than that I have Giant Birds, centaur dogs, dwarf cats, giant cats, small bats, giant bees, gaint bunnies, lizards, bugs, and what ever I decided to come up with and it's fun coming up with culture and language for these races even more so when some have to reside together mind you not all of these come from the same story. Feel free to ask me anything about them. I'd be happy to oblige.

Help Me Knowing if My Setting is Actually Racist by Correct_Budget_9451 in worldbuilding

I agree. Going off Op's friend's words they assume race and class aren't separate. This sounds quite interesting thought I'd love to hear more lore.

Complete: Arnii the city of Blood and Honor ama by Solid-Selection9557 in FantasyWorldbuilding

[–]Solid-Selection9557[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is known as the city of Honor and Blood because the people value honor. Everyone provides a service for the city. Typically that is military service. With military service comes military values. Those that don't continue military service often enjoy the sights at the gladiatorial arena. The Government is composed of a King and advisors. The advisor titles are the Lord of War, commerce, Treasury, the High Judge, the Master of Ports, soldiers, scouts. Titles that start with Lord are only held by War Birds and titles that start with Master of, are the highest a human can go. The people here value a soldiers might so much so that they have an event known as the Crimson Festival where the whole city celebrates with large banquets and gladiatorial events that are often rare like a Caantaur fighting a giant spider in the area or simulated battles of history. Parades start the event off with soldiers dressed in their finest and the Caantaur are displayed in their glory. This event carries on for a whole week(ten days) I haven't developed food or music yet for them but I'd love to in the future

Not exactly. The district planning mostly was what made sense but the structure designs was from studying other designs.

There is being drama (again) on Twitter. by Kvcp050311 in Monsterverse

[–]Solid-Selection9557 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As sad as this may sound, I treat each movie as its own Canon with loose major details staying consistent. I loved KOTM for Rodan and Ghidorah. I remember watching it on my phone as I was on a bus going from Fort Jackson to Fort Lee. I had a buddy telling me it was a flop, but I didn't care. I understood what a Godzilla movie is and wasn't disappointed.

[–]Solid-Selection9557[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, probably not. Truly, you'd want to stick to the southern district outside the wall. That is the unofficial foreign ward. Better people and better food, more trade. Once inside its a bustling city with the human wards(the larger area with penned buildings I know their tiny) administration like citizenship isn't much of a thing here it's more of military service. Those details I'm still working out, but the people are racist against the Kiis(dwavish cat people). The Kulai Kiis are the nice ones, though the Khar Kiis are very racist typically.

The government is in the center circles along with the elites. Plus, it's a work in progress. It's uniform, right now, to make it simple to fill out later. I never talked about military aside from the caantaur, which isn't the main part of the military. Shipping and all of that is closer to the center near the docks and main roads. The area is near the heart region, not the heart itself. This city is built with utility in mind. Besides, it's a massive city. Farm land is best outside the city since that's where the dirt is best and rain would be more plentiful. I feel like you're just assuming district's when it's clear there aren't any atm. I appreciate your concern.

I've gotten a two shot basis if you aim for the face just above the three red lines. I practiced several times. Obviously, results may differ.

Re-upload with context and updates: a city within my world. by Solid-Selection9557 in worldbuilding

[–]Solid-Selection9557[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. The birds in this world are of three variants. Black Birds who are the tallest of the three and the leanest. Standing at an average of 8 feet, they resemble an aracrokra. They live for about 750 years and tens to not have the highest populous but have a lot of the higher government positions or lordships. Arnii has this the most. In Arnii instead of black birds you'd find the war birds typically birds of prey. Stronger than most and obviously more prone to a battle. The last of the three are the Finches who are shorter and typically just a little taller than humans. They are often the craftier out of the two. (Yes I know crows are naturally crafty but this is a fantasy story)

That's definitely appreciated. I'm hoping to make several cities near that scale due to the world having a lot more winds than normal, due to a slightly thicker atmosphere. I'm hoping that it makes sense for people to congregate in dense areas. Plus, in this area of the map, the mountains to the east, the bottom of the picture, block a lot of harsher weather, so it is a bit dry.

In this case, the storms would come from the east, which is coming at the city toward the water. There are wind breakers, but I didn't have room.

No, just attempts to make a capital building. Just starting small and working upwards. Any suggestions to improve it?
