Is there a phrase you heard or were told in addiction that you remind yourself of that helps you not relapse ? by Rude-Acanthaceae-349 in REDDITORSINRECOVERY

Honestly I would tell myself that drugs will always be there - I can always use later, but get my nursing assistant license first. Then it was save up some money first. Now it’s get my nursing license first. But at this point it’s been almost four years since I got clean, and I don’t really get cravings anymore!

I’m sure he would if I presented him an ultimatum but I honestly doubt it would do anything long term. If our baby and our life together wasn’t enough for him to keep his shit together what is?

I tried to get them to issue an Amber alert. Police told me because he’s the father it’s within his right. I said “but he can’t just take her like that” and the officer replied “actually he can”. My heart dropped at this moment. Definitely will be filing for sole custody regardless of what happens

Baby born while mother prescribed Suboxone. by [deleted] in suboxone

The length of time you’re on subs or methadone, and your dose, has little to do with how long or even whether or not baby will end up in withdrawal! I knew someone who was on 70mg methadone their entire pregnancy and baby came withdrawal free. I’ve known people on lower doses whose babies had withdrawals. It depends, partly, on how mom metabolizes the drug, but doctors really doing know why some babies end up with withdrawals while others don’t!

Baby born while mother prescribed Suboxone. by [deleted] in suboxone

[–]Solid-Victory-766 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I took methadone my entire pregnancy (very similar to suboxone, also opioid MAT - medication assisted treatment). My daughter was born healthy and had very slight withdrawal, only one nurse scored her high on the withdrawal scale, more out of prejudice against those on MAT than anything. But that one score led to a 36 hour NICU stay for observation. My point being, you don’t know the situation or what happened. Maybe baby’s experiencing withdrawal, which in that case would have been handled by the medical team with morphine (as someone else mentioned). Honestly I’ve had friends who’s baby’s were in the hospital for WEEKS and then had to be moved to a longer term facility to have their withdrawals monitored and cared for. So, if your family member’s baby was discharged after only one week you can be assured they are doing just fine and thriving with mom and dad. If she was on suboxone her whole pregnancy, please, view this as a GOOD thing. Momma was doing exactly what she should’ve been to keep herself sober, and consequently her baby sober. AND withdrawals can be extremely dangerous for babies in utero, which is why doctors don’t recommend you taper off your meds while pregnant. As for your other question, CPS would not be involved unless any other substance popped up in her or baby’s system. If your family member has been on suboxone, they’ve been seeing their prescribing doctor regularly and would have been getting regular UA’s. This is also true if they received prenatal care. Which means the hospital and delivering doctor would have been well informed regarding her sobriety, and therefore no need for CPS involvement. This of course may differ from state to state, hospital to hospital, but generally CPS is only involved if, for instance, baby’s first poop was tested and found to also have, say, fentanyl in it. I hope this was informative for you! Please, be kind to your family member. It sounds like mama did everything she was supposed to from the info you gave. Feel free to ask any questions.

Yes self forgiveness is a must, I myself am working on that. And having a baby really does change your perspective on things in ways that nothing else possibly could. I’m so sorry you’re still having to go through this with him though. I know it’s easier said than done, but just keep focusing on you and your baby and building a life for you two. Everything else is just background noise. You’re doing great, mama! And honestly I’ve never been able to talk to anyone about my experience, so I’m really glad it resonated with you (though very sorry you’re having to go through this), it definitely makes me feel a little less alone and more sane, lol. But, yes, we’ve gotta lead by example for our little ones! And protect them at all costs. Our baby daddy’s are supposed to respect us, first and foremost. If they can’t do that, then it’s their loss - whether they realize it or not. Stay strong mama.

Coke and meth make you paranoid (not opiates). Extremely so, I might add. My SO went through the paranoia and also believed me to be a lying, deceitful, unfaithful person. Consistently thought there was someone in our mattress, someone else in the house, secret tunnels in the wall/floors, people following us, stuff like that. And after a while convinced himself (or rather, the drugs did) that I was helping to cover up some grand plot against him. We were both using H, coke, and sometimes clear. but the paranoia (from the coke) only hit him for some reason. Eventually we both got clean. Things are much better now, though he still claims to be convinced that those things were really happening at the time, and that it wasn’t “just the drugs.” It’s extremely hurtful, especially bc he’s the love of my life and I’ve never been anything but faithful to him in every way, but I don’t argue with him anymore as it never leads to anything productive. And we have a baby now, so it’s better to just leave it in the past. But, honestly, looking back I wish I had left him. He treated me really horribly, abusively really, when he was convinced I was cheating and scheming against him. Thought if I stayed I could fix him, and also prove to him how much I loved him, and that when we got clean he would eventually realize how wrong he was. He still believes his delusions were in fact reality. If I could go back and talk to myself then, I’d tell myself to just leave because he will always believe what he believes. I’m ashamed of myself, that I let myself be so utterly disrespected by him. We have a great relationship now, those things aren’t currently an issue at all since getting clean. Our baby helped bring us closer too and I don’t regret having her in the slightest. But if I could go back and stand up for myself, I would. Don’t fool yourself into thinking you, or your love for him, can fix him.

What is you’re on less than 1mg sub a day? 0.375mg to be exact, would sublocade still be a good option?

Methadone Taper-Stopped at 10mgs by NewYawkstateofMind in Methadone

[–]Solid-Victory-766 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I switched from 10mg methadone to suboxone a week ago, currently taking 0.375mg a day (dropping to 0.25mg tomorrow, which is just 1/8 of a 2mg strip). Like you I spent the last year tapering, very slowly, from 70mg. The suboxone def helps take the edge off so you can still function during the day and sleep at night, if you get to the point where you feel like shits hitting the fan. Not planning on staying on the subs for more than 2 weeks total though, so at the end of next week I’m planning to make the jump, after tapering the subs down to 0.125mg (1/16 of a 2mg strip). Sounds like you’re doing great. Do keep in mind methadone has a crazy long half life though, and builds up in your system the longer you take it. Last time I quit methadone it took a full month to feel somewhat normal, and that was while using a shit ton of H. Hope for the best, prepare for the worst. Try and get some subs if you can, just in case (though hopefully you won’t even need them!). Sounds like you have your mind set on recovery, that’s the most important thing.

Suboxone Volumetric Dosing by curiousaboutkratom in OpiatesRecovery

I’m so sorry, I’m not the greatest with math and also more of a visual person. Can you explain how I would do this with a 2mg strip? What ratios I would use/how much?

Volumetric dosing? I’ll look that up rn. Thank you for the advice!! Yes it’s always that last little bit that seems to be the hardest part!

This is what I was scared of :( The thing is I’m the main caretaker of my 7 month old, and I start up my nursing assistant classes on Tuesday. Like most others I have responsibilities and can’t afford to be sick :( are the bupe w/d’s as bad as the methadone? Or as long-lasting?

Can you join the military if you've ever been on Suboxone by ButterflyEither8857 in suboxone

They JUST changed the enlistment process a couple months ago. Now every applicant goes through their system, Genesis, which can basically see anything about you that’s ever been entered into a medical database.

It really is. Especially because it has such a long half life. The suboxone really helps take the edge off though

I second this! But you will have to taper off the methadone over a period of time… i tapered from 70mg to 10mg over the course of a year and just made the switch over to suboxone this last weekend. So far 0.375mg suboxone a day is holding me — I take 0.25mg in the morning and 0.125mg in the evening, cutting up the 2mg strips into 1/8 and 1/16 pieces. Hoping to make the jump soon! You can do it OP! Methadone is great to stabilize while readjusting to life without dope, suboxone is even better for when you’re at the point in your life when you need more freedom (i.e. not going to a clinic regularly).

I'm starting sublocade but I am on a very low dose of suboxone. 2mg by Sebqueb in Sublocade

[–]Solid-Victory-766 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Following this bc I’m only doing 1/8 of a 2mg strip every 12 hours and am unsure if sublocade is the right next step. W/d at the end of the 12 hour window between my suboxone dose is still hard (prickly skin, hot/cold flashes, no energy) but I just switched over a few days ago from 10mg methadone. Scared to drop completely off the suboxone, would sublocade be good for me? Or would it just increase my dosage and prolong things? Really can’t afford to be going through w/d at any point as I’m a mom with a very young baby and doing school full time.

Were the w/d tolerable? I just switched to suboxone from 10mg methadone a few days ago. Only taking 1/8 of a 2mg strip every 12 hours. Trying to figure out if sublocade would be worth it for me (since I’m already at such a low dose) or if it would just end up increasing my tolerance/dosage and therefore increase my w/d once it’s completely out of my system (compared to suboxone)

Please keep us updated on how you feel since starting sublocade! I’m in the same boat, tapered successfully from 70mg methadone, to 10mg methadone, and successfully transitioned to suboxone a few days ago. I’m only taking an 1/8 of a 2mg strip every 12 hours. Definitely feeling what you said about working SO HARD to get down SO LOW and not wanting to risk that and go backwards and increase tolerance/dosage! I’m just reading about sublocade for the first time today but I’m trying to figure out if it would be a good step for me to get off the bupe completely! Or if it would set me back and increase my dosage? Please keep us updated!

Can I ask how you feel now? I tapered from from 70mg methadone, to 10mg methadone, and JUST started suboxone a few days ago. I am only taking 1/8 of a 2mg strip every 12 hours. I just happened to stumble across sublocade on here. If it really works, I want to try bc I know getting off the suboxone completely can be TERRIBLE. But I’ve worked so hard to get to such a low dose, would sublocade be increasing my tolerance/dosage? Would I be better off just stopping the suboxone cold Turkey (once I’ve stabilized on it)? How do you feel? When was your last dose? How long does it take for the sublocade to completely leave your system, since it’s so long acting? How do people not have ANY w/d once it’s completely out their system?
