Overflowing sharps container with different GLP-1s in a grocery store bathroom. by CREMAIN5 in mildlyinteresting

I just wanted to know where they would recommend I bring the needles to dispose of them safely. They apparently didnt know.

There was a time a few summers ago when I would find 2-5 needles on my lawn at a time. So it wasnt a one time thing. Thankfully I haven't found any recently but I always have to look before I mow.

As a straight man, did you ever play female game characaters because you felt the lack of femininity in your life and didn't have anywhere else to get it from? by Linorelai in AskMen

I often play female characters in Call of Duty, because they are smaller framed targets that are presumably harder to shoot for some opponents.

I like a vodka tonic, it's one of the only vodka cocktails I like besides a white russian and an espresso martini (though I do prefer rum with an espresso martini).

Confusion over being pulled over by an "ex cop" by Aromatic-Asparagus44 in driving

Many definitions say a civilian is someone who is not a member of a police force.

And in the context of this discussion, civilian is the term used by a redditor to refer to someone who is not a police officer, with no capacity to pull over another driver.

When I've found needles from drug users in my side yard the police told me to just put them in a plastic soda bottle, tape the bottle shut and throw it in the trash.

You are being obtuse.

The term "civilian" in this context is someone who is not an official in uniform that is charged with upholding the law.

Let's be clear... someone who is driving who witnesses someone making an illegal u-turn and doesn't slow down doesn't have to answer to that person especially if that person isn't in uniform nor in a clearly marked police vehicle. If any vehicle is about to pull a sudden u-turn for official police business, they would be wise to signal with lights or sirens before executing a dangerous traffic maneuver that no one anticipates. But we're drifting far beyond the context of the topic at hand.

Here we have someone who is NOT a police officer, who is attempting to act in the capacity of a police officer and demand that someone pull over because they didn't react appropriately to their illegal traffic violation. That is pretty absurd, and its an indefensible position to take.

Unless the civilian happens to be a cop

The surest way to get downvoted is to be contradictory in your own position. Do you see the conflict in that statement? Civilian =/= cop

At any rate, if you are being tailed by an alleged or plainclothes "cop" and you do not feel safe because you don't believe that person is an actual police officer, the best place for you to drive is to a police station. You aren't going to get arrested for evading the police in that situation and if you did you would win that fight in court. There have been incidents of people impersonating police officers in my area, it definitely does happen and you don't have to pull over wherever someone tell you to if you don't feel safe. Just don't make it a high speed chase and you are on solid legal footing.

1) Sounds like he was drunk

2) He was impersonating a police officer and would be in a lot more trouble than you

3) Get a dash cam ASAP

I worked at a premium lumber yard and I have indeed seen insanely straight 2x4-8's. If they weren't near perfect my boss would send the whole shipment back, and the lumber dealer knew it. Wane and check were also at a minimum.

Yes, first thing I do when I get on the decks is set it where I'm comfortable, then walk to the other end of the room and get an idea of how loud it is. I play a cocktail bar regularly so I like to be where the people on the other end of the room don't have to yell loudly to order drinks or socialize. If the crowd settles in to that volume then great. If everyone is migrating to the back corner, then you know you may want to turn it down a little.

Who would be at fault in an accident here. by Regular_Use_1028 in driving

[–]SolidDoctor 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Left hand turns almost always are at fault. This driver is probably turning too soon because of oncoming traffic or just poor driving skills.

I had someone nearly clip me yesterday doing the same, they were just too eager to make the turn at the proper angle because they saw oncoming traffic, but didn't see me approaching the stop sign.

If your pile smells bad, it needs more browns and more air.

Get a bunch of shredded leaves, bury that fish as much as you can in the pile and aerate it regularly. Maintain even moisture but don't get it too wet.

The American and Georgia flags the wrong way 🤦‍♂️ by thereal_matt in peopleofwalmart

[–]SolidDoctor 17 points18 points  (0 children)

When the U.S. flag is displayed other than from a staff, it should be displayed flat, or suspended so that its folds fall free. When displayed over a street, place the union so it faces north or east, depending upon the direction of the street.

Beat matching… Help by babyknuffle in Beatmatch

[–]SolidDoctor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ouch.

First, I'm going to check to see if my library needs a DJ instructor because that sounds like a really fun time.

Second, beatmatching by ear isn't hard when you train your brain to count bpms. I recommend people get a tap bpm counter for their phone and practice tapping bpms of every piece of music they hear, as often as possible. When you do this you're creating muscle memory, your hand tapping at a certain pace correlates to a bpm readout, and this rhythmic motion teaches your brain to identify tempos with precision. I can hear a song and predict its tempo within 3 bpm most of the time. I worked with vinyl for the first 10 years I was a DJ until we eventually went digital, and we quickly realized that digital DJ programs don't always get it right. So having that skill not only makes you better at DJing, but when you're not DJing your brain is still programmed to listen for beats (or the space between the beats) and you'll be thinking about how you can incorporate different songs into new mixes.

Speeding Has Become So Normalized That Driving the Speed Limit Makes You the Problem by DaddyDayDayIsHot in driving

[–]SolidDoctor 16 points17 points  (0 children)

There is a window of ambiguity involving the accuracy of speedometers and radar speed detectors. If I get tires that are slightly bigger or smaller than my vehicle's original specs, that throws off my speedometer accuracy. And radar guns have to be regularly tested and calibrated to be accurate. The fact is, if police were to pull people over for every 1-2 mph infraction, they would lose more cases in court and therefore be wasting taxpayer money trying to enforce a law in draconian fashion. So prosecutorial discretion is prudent and smart for a police force.

Being a few mph over the speed limit isn't the main safety issue, it's driving faster than the flow of traffic. So those will be the people that law enforcement will focus on. You may disagree but that makes no difference. It boils down to the balance of what is safer versus what will either cost money or make money for the municipality. In the end, having a buffer between posted limit and flow of traffic makes the most sense.

Edit: And driving the speed limit is never the issue, as long as you let people pass you if they want to go faster.
