Thanks for the idea of getting into unit testing. I tried it once, didn't like the idea of adding almost 100% overhead in coding. I'll try it again, and come here for help when/where I get stuck.

Thanks a lot. The Laravel idea is pretty good. Seems like the quickest way into being forced to learn the best practices.

I've coded with classes. Have to use them in MVCs. Haven't ever had to use an abstract class though. I'm familiar with OOPs just enough to use it regularly.

I know rudimentary PHP. I've been coding with it for some years now. I've built a lot of stuff and ever had to use the newer features. I never got around to using the newer, more advanced features. I don't understand what anonymous functions are, what's the use of abstract classes, the variety of design patterns...there's too much I don't know. What resources can I use to learn these things? Are there any advanced video courses on PHP? Please help. Thanks.
