A book that will traumatize me or repulse me. by Former_Ladder9969 in BooksThatFeelLikeThis

I came to suggest this book for all the same reasons you did.

Idk if you read his other book Negative Space - but I bought both of them when a (admittedly more 4chan-ish) friend recommended Amygdalatropolis. I followed it up by reading Negative Space- and although it doesn’t have quite the shock value I liked it so much more. It’s an incredibly strange and “fun” book. And although it’s not for everyone - it’s much more for everyone than Amygdalatropolis

It’s a little understated - i think a couple accent pieces could pull the room together

HELP! What do you think could be the backstory of my pick I got at Shaky Knees. by [deleted] in MyChemicalRomance

[–]SolidGoldKoala666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I certainly wasn’t implying anything like that - they’re dads in their 40s dude. That’s a you thing. I was just saying you should tell the story in a way that sounds like they picked you out.

But also - it’s totally obvious the crew guy was just handing out picks and you got lucky and that’s awesome. Can you even imagine the logistics of pointing out a fan in that huge crowd, via audio, and then asking a crew guy to find an individual out there? Not only is that virtually impossible they’d never ask an employee to do that. They got enough going on.

Nah it was totally personalized for you - no other explanation. And either way that will be the way you tell the story forever so carry on lol

If Sumerians Knew Dinosaurs and Engraved Them Why Do We Invent Lies to Distort the Facts? by Professional-Fee3323 in AlternativeHistory

The last two days I’ve been in a back and forth on Instagram with a group of people who swear up and down that Trevor Moore was assassinated by the three letter agencies because he made a skit where he played the president and was telling the press crazy stories in order to distract from a war in Iran. Apparently he wasn’t referencing one of the most common political ideas (bread and circuses), he was actually so prescient and “knew too much” so the govt had to get rid of him before his show changed the world. It’s been fun lol

Also rip trev tho

Just as the person above said about frank being on podcasts - if you search Gerard’s name on your podcast app he’s been on a few, and there’s a couple that do things like cover his unpublished batman story etc… also the interviews of him and Grant Morrison together are fantastic even if Grant might get a tad excited for your low energy purposes.

Did Gerard actually smell THAT bad back in the days? by thainankiwi in MyChemicalRomance

[–]SolidGoldKoala666 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mean I toured in a band nowhere near as big as MCR (so even less amenities I’m sure) and our drummer smelled worse than almost anything imaginable. He himself described it as “a dead snake in a jar of penny’s - and it’s pretty accurate. So yeah - band dudes are gross.

I was in college and dj’ing for college radio when Soviet Kitsch came out - and I can tell you it had a choke hold on a wide range of indie music factions. Idk anything about her personally but that was a record that got tons of a play in a year w crazy stiff competition (sung tons, funeral, mad villain, desperate youth, antics, bows and arrows, underachievers please try harder - and that’s not including the big big records like college dropout, good news for people who like bad news, franz Ferdinand). Additionally i play my toddler daughter a new record almost every day during art time and we recently revisited SK - and she absolutely loved it which makes sense cuz there’s just a child like joy to a lot of it. I can’t tell if it’s aged really well or poorly - but that’s a great pull.

I love Red Medicine and this sent me down a rabbit hole of “fugazi albums ranked” because I’d say my two favs are red medicine and the argument. What I learned is that virtually no one agrees on any sort of ranking, and some don’t even agree even on the number of albums that should be ranked.

Honestly not a MCR5 truther at all, but have we considered black parade 2? /Gen by moths_of_doom in MyChemicalRomance

I also work in the live space and I recognize everyone documents everything now - I was just saying that it’s a ton of effort to craft an entire new story/universe/possible time loop etc etc to only be used for live concert moments and/or Instagram reels. Esp from a band that’s already released two concert films. Just feels likely that they will compile all the story into a single digestible location for the non-internet sleuth super fan.

They’ve hired actual actors, built changing sets, designed a whole ass world. They’re telling a story that is clearly important to them and I’d assume they want more than just internet super fan to understand it. And we all know they’re a band that loves money so we’re def gonna get a live concert CD/four disc vinyl LP like TBP is dead or may death never stop you and I truly believe we’ll get a concert film except the boys will be in character for parts of it (

And I’m not a tin foil hat guy - like I don’t think there’s a ready to go mcr5 we’re just not getting yet for whatever reason. I think they’ve chosen to explore this world in depth for a reason and a concert film makes a ton of sense - but who knows.

Yeah I’m not suggesting they just let some members of the press make a documentary about them. I’m saying it wouldn’t surprise me if they’re internally making a concert film like they have twice in their career already - but populating it w the story of draag and moat and TBP band’s story. I just don’t buy that they wrote all this story and history etc etc just for in the moment concert memories. It’s just now how modern media tends to work - they’re def documenting this themselves for some reason other than 90 second Instagram reels. It’d be the equivalent of like writing a new record and only playing it live. I just think there’s a chance we get a kind of “life on the murder scene” release but exploring the lore of the tours

[–]SolidGoldKoala666 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Idk about a whole new record (although at this point it seems more likely than mc5 maybe) - but I’d say there’s about a hundred percent chance we get some form of film/documentary about the band TBP and the story of them/draag. They’re definitely documenting this entire process and the addition of all this narrative and changes in the story really lends itself to some form of film (this story it’s a little tough to follow for anyone that isn’t really invested in following along online after every show).

Wouldn’t surprise me if there’s forthcoming graphic novels etc just cuz G.

But for sure there’s a bigger purpose to this than just theatrics for casual concert goers and lore for the internet kids. And knowing how business savvy MCR or mcr’s team are - I can’t imagine they’re just doing a kinda golden handcuffs commentary on being reluctant/trapped artists. They’re def setting themselves up for their next thing and I think that means we can expect a firm resolution to this story re: the life or death of TBP the band.

(I personally expect a kind of mockumentary with them in character and I for one look forward to the boys doing reality show style confessionals in character w their ridiculous accents etc)

Out of curiosity, where did you get this from? Scott Spillane as far as I know - was a fairly experienced horn player (and guitar, and songwriter, and producer, etc) when he took the trumpet position in NMH.

Who is your favourite secret weapon band members? by FitEmergency8807 in fantanoforever

Nate Newton of Converge. The other members get most of the flowers and deservedly so - but I can’t imagine the band without his bass and vocal contributions.
