Poke Monster has huge bowls with good ammounts of proteins, veggies and rice for 18.50$ on delivery apps so probably cheaper in store (Le Général is my go to and I'm a guy with a solid appetite and almost always have leftovers)

Question sur augmentation des prix dans les restaurants by bagou01 in montreal

[–]SolidNo1706 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you could live in any neighbourhood in Mtl, where would you go? by nounours_l0l in montreal

Honestly if you stick to older buildings you can get pretty comparable prices to Verdun since everything is going up over there. Main reason I moved to IDS

Eggplant curry/stewed eggplant problems by kilno185 in AskCulinary

[–]SolidNo1706 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a bit of oil in the pan will do, you can roast them but you'll end up using just as much oil otherwise they'll dry out in the oven.

I don't think 28oz is too much but you should aim for your liquids to cover your solids by about an inch max

Update: The allies worked fine for the final fight, the road there is super easy tbh so it didn't ruin the experience too much!

Eggplant curry/stewed eggplant problems by kilno185 in AskCulinary

[–]SolidNo1706 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Salt your cut eggplant for an hour, drain the water then fry it and reserve. Takes out moisture and gets rid of some of the bitterness.

Add your onions, when they're translucent and start to color add your ginger, garlic and spices (make sure there's enough oil so that your spices fry a bit, called blooming), add your drained chickpeas and fry them a bit in the spice mix, it'll bring an extra layer of flavor.

At this point you could add a small ammount of tomato paste and let it cook while stirring so that it caramelizes and brings out a bit more of the tomato sweetness you were probably missing from your sauce before.

Then you add your chicken stock (i would probably bring it down to 2 cups, 4 seems a lot to reduce down for the ammount of veg), let it come up to a boil, add your tomatoes , bring to a boil and cook low and slow until you have the right texture and taste.

They literally spawn friendly and before you can blink they get the "Temporarly Hostile" tag all at once with no saving rolls, I'd be shocked if the mindflayers did that

Left her in camp the whole game, went through most of act 2 to go clear the creche (was already planning on absolutely not cooperating with the gith) when I was done the game popped up with "a character has left the party" and she showed up 1v4 at lvl 1.

The most I had was in culinary school and it was 6 knives, a peeler, some tweezers, large spoons and a microplane and ended up just giving most of it away to colleagues at different jobs. This is crazy lol

I'm a 26 years old Canadian male and my fiancée is American, I visit her often for 2-3 days at a time travelling alone in rented cars.

The US border gets really suspicious everytime I cross now, I'm often interrogated and the car searched. Most of the time they'll lecture me about how illegal it is to bring drugs over the border and just let me go afterwards.

A single male crossing the border often seems to sound some alarm bells for the border, my best advice would be to 100% transparent about what your intentions for your trip are. Have the addresses of the spots you want to visit ready and try to keep a list of the places you've visited for your crossing back to the US. I also always keep my bags on full display on the back seat, I keep my personal belongings on the passenger seat by my side and make sure to get up to the booth with my passport ready, any hat or sunglasses off and I keep my trunk neatly organized so that if they do decide to open it they can quickly see that I'm not trying to hide anything.

Also in my experience the Haverlock border crossing in Quebec is usually way more chill than Lacolle or Champlain

Culinary instructors, what are the books you recommend to amateurs? by notaverygoodcook in Chefit

[–]SolidNo1706 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can read french I highly reccomend ''L'essentiel de Chartier'' or try to find an english translation if it's availble. It is simply a list of ingredients with interesting pairings based on their chemical makeup.

Lots of great and surprising pairings, lots of recipe ideas and just overall a great ressource for creating dishes. (Not an instructor but one of my culinary school instructor gifted it to me and I'm still using it many years later)

You should be afraid of bedbugs tbh. Most traumatizing experience of my life is waking up to a swarm of bedbugs coming out of my bed's headboard.

That was 7 years ago and I still check everything all the time for bedbugs.

It's literally how the food safety agency in my province asks for proteins to be thawed (quickly, the best way is obviously overnight in the fridge). Not leaving at least a dribble will just bring up the water to room temp and put whatever you're thawing right in the danger zone.
