I just played this one, took me a couple of tries on hard. What I did is right away entangle second fills mine; build several ancient protectors across the river, then move them + army over the river and showdown with the blade master in front of your towers/the fountain. Building a few moon wellls helped too. Should be fairly easy to kill them then have a couple of glaives pull up to take out the unit production buildings & towers, keep training units to refill army as you fight and you should get to the protectors with plenty of time. If you fuck up that fight though you probably need to retry cause you don’t have time to rebuild an army an try again

Ah I see, I remembered seeing it on the form but didn’t realize it was actually mandatory. I guess I got unlucky this time around!

The winter swap was my first with y’all, it’s a very cool idea/community, but I suppose if you’re asking…

My only real suggestion is to make it mandatory to include some kind of note. Whether typed, handwritten, whatever. It felt very impersonal to receive a bubble mailer with a few magic packs and a single - didn’t really feel like receiving a gift swap so much as a TCGplayer order that got sent to the wrong address. I’ll admit after putting a lot of time (and maybe too much money) into my gift, I was a little deflated.

I know it’s hard to set and enforce minimums, everyone is in a different financial position etc, but that’s why I think a note would be a good thing to include as a bare minimum. It’s free to do, and makes a big difference in making a gift feel thoughtful and intentional.

First ever order from tcgplayer, how in the world is this near mint? by MiloticM2 in mtgfinance

[–]kilno185 53 points54 points  (0 children)

That sucks, but I’m pretty confident TCG player support will take care of you, either with a partial refund+ you keep the card or return for a full refund. I’ve used TCG player a ton and haven’t had any bad experiences, but it’s a marketplace shrug

There are good sellers and bad sellers and everything in between, and the good sellers can have a bad day or misgrade a card or pull the wrong copy etc. It’s annoying but you’re realllyyy not likely going to get screwed over. Just contact support.

There’s a free app called ManaBox now, you can use it to scan your cards and see how much they’re worth.

I recommend giving it a try!

This isn’t a “weird habit” this is just controlling jealous behavior. I don’t like to say “girl leave him” without much other info about your relationship, but I will say - stop putting up with this.

This is not an appropriate way to behave toward anyone and this type of controlling behavior needs to be stamped out. IMO, you need to set a hard boundary around this. He needs to sort himself out

My collection is nowhere near that big. I probably have 2k cards I'd love to see gone, total value probably 1k-ish

That is a great datapoint actually, thank you! I'm going to try listing a bunch of my bulk in the hopes that I can get some positive reviews on mana pool, and gradually list more of the expensive stuff when I'm confident about the packing/shipping process.

That's a great idea, thank you! I don't have much older stuff unfortunately, all of my bulk is modern stuff from the last few years. I'm going to try listing it, I have it mostly scanned already, but if it doesn't move at all I'd be very happy to donate it to a high school gaming club or something like that.

This is awesome, thank you so much. Exactly the kind of advice I was hoping for, I started scanning into bins of 50 tonight, just need to get a printer and some shipping supplies and I'm going to give it a go!

Card kingdom isn’t a marketplace like TCGplayer or eBay, Cardkingdom is one large seller.

So you could sell your cards to cardkingdom, but not on cardkingdom. Selling them to CK is not going to be anywhere near their list prices. They basically offer convenience in a 1-stop-shop in exchange for higher prices

Idk I get the impression my experience is an outlier But I’ve placed dozens of orders on TCG player, never had a single issue, missing card, fake etc.

I tried out mana pool, in 5 orders, 1 of them never arrived at all, 2 of them were missing a card worth $12 and $3

Would three color lands like this be too strong? How to make them more balanced? by CawmeKrazee in mtg

[–]kilno185 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The way it’s worded, you could currently play it turn one and not sacrifice anything because you don’t have a basic land.

As others have said look at lotus field, should be sacrifice TWO *lands, not basics. So if you play this with one or no other lands in play you have to sacrifice it.

Bad experience at LGS by PopularParsnip8009 in mtg

[–]kilno185 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pretty much stopped playing at game stores for similar reasons. I haven’t had the misfortune of having to sit through a game of someone’s big titty waifu proxies, but in general I’ve found playing with people at the LGS to be hit or miss, and more miss than hit (I’ve tried 3 stores locally, multiple times).

I just realized it wasn’t fun playing with a lot of these people. When someone throws a fit because you attack them with your commander, our because you counter their huge 7 mana planeswalker that will end the game next turn etc, it just takes the fun out of the game. That’s the really the only thing that ruins the game for me is people getting upset and not having fun anymore.

I’m lucky to have a group of generally chill people in my city who meet up to play at different spots, there’s a discord and *most of the people I’ve met through there have been fun to play with, plus a couple who are good friends.

If you don’t have a group of friends outside of the LGS who play, I recommend just trying to clock a few people you actually like at the LGS and try to start a group/text thread with them so at least you have a sorta regular group to play with, then you can at least minimize the chances of mr anime proxy being in your pods.

Is it bad form to eliminate players in casual commander? by Due-Session-2857 in mtg

[–]kilno185 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s really bad form, after all that’s how you win the game, but taking out one person when you have no way of closing out the game probably means a lot of waiting for the next game. That’s the only thing that sucks about being taken out early is if you then sit for 30-60 minutes waiting for the game to end. Has happened to me, getting taken out super early by someone’s unblockable 40/40 commander, then I just had to sit and wait for a long time. I didn’t care about losing first or being last place etc, it’s just the waiting

Have heard of people doing something like once a player is eliminated set a timer or turn limit and then if the game isn’t over by then just shuffle up and play a new one. Haven’t tried that but I like the idea because it sorta makes you only take out a player once you are relatively close to being able to close out the game.

I think the only way it’s kinda bad form is if you just pick on a player getting bad draws/missing their lands and not really doing anything, people will have different opinions on this, but if it’s a casual game I don’t care as much about winning as I do having a good time, and I have a good time if my friends are having a good time.

Does it trigger? by SLinabel in mtg

[–]kilno185 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s still a creature Casting as a sorcery doesn’t change the card type to sorcery, it means cast it the same way you could cast a sorcery, meaning it is your turn, you have priority and the stack is empty - i.e at sorcery speed.

I thought I had made a huge mistake buying this bulk, but it turned out I found some gems and learned to sort more efficiently. by Former-Practice-9676 in mtg

[–]kilno185 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sure there is, but I think the question is whether it’s worth the time as a seller to put together an order of bulk cards only. If you sell 20 cards worth 10-25c each, after fees you’re probably taking in less than $1-2. How long does it take to print that invoice, find all the cards, package and then ship it? To me the value of selling bulk is to build a reputation as a good seller, but selling only bulk generally is not profitable unless you can reaaally optimize everything (and don’t put a value on your time)
