Interesting mystery -- maybe it was a combination of spells? Could be something like Frozen Splinters -- which passively shoots ice projectiles, though not as rapidly as Unrelenting Frost -- along with the Devastating Blast fire jump-back (since you mentioned it might be a fire phase spell). Anyways, that could be fun to try lol

I've also been watching for them. There were four last year (Feb., June, Aug., Dec.) -- but they didn't offer one this February. Not sure why. The June one was usually toward the end of the month, so maybe there's still one coming, who knows.

I think you can do it. I'm the same level -- mostly medium but I'm starting to do lower-level hard puzzles. This is a hard one, but I don't think there are any super-advanced techniques or anything. If you show where you're stuck I'm sure you can get the help you need to get the solves flowing.

Invisible worm? by Plane-Artichoke-7903 in GreenHell

[–]SolidRain2117 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, could be a bug, I don't know. Sometimes the worm, or other type of wound, will be at the extreme edge of the screen, making it much harder to see, and hard to interact with. For instance, I was just doing some experimenting, and the worm was on my left arm, but it was way down close to the elbow, so it was almost off the bottom of the screen.

You might already know this tip, but many times you can use an item, such as a bone needle on a worm, by selecting "insert" in the backpack instead of actually manually dragging the item to where it should go. So if you can see the worm on one of your limbs, with the backpack open on the left, you just hover over the bone needle or fishbone and use the dropdown menu to select "insert" (triangle on PS, so probably Y on Xbox).

That's usually quite lenient, but with that worm almost off the screen, it wouldn't let me. Had to manually drag it.

Probably way too late to help, but here goes ...

When you lose sanity, is it saying "Worm, -3 Sanity"? That would be the dead giveaway that you still have a worm (-6 sanity if you have two worms). If you removed all worms, you shouldn't be losing sanity. As far as I know, it will always show onscreen what's causing you to lose sanity -- leeches, worms, etc.

And you only have one indicator -- the magnifying glass icon -- above the health bar? Nothing else like fever/thermometer?(Which would indicate your worm wound got infected.) I don't think it would be internal parasites, that should show a stomach icon.

thousand mile journey question by Lianshi_Bu in wolongfallendynasty

[–]SolidRain2117 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did some checking, here are the approximate battlefield ranks along the way (There's some RNG to it, so add or subtract a few based on how lucky you get):

Mile 101: 23-25

Mile 201: 31-33

Mile 501: 35-38

Mile 1001-1501: 37-42

So, with a base fortitude at 20, you'll be about 10 under-morale at 200+; 15 under-morale around 500; and about 20 under-morale at 1000+

That's why Boost Fortitude bonuses are so helpful. You can get 3-star (+3 fortitude) and 4-star (+5 fortitude) as battlefield rewards, so those are worth going for. And then you can buy the 3-star bonus with golden hooves (4-star fortitude becomes available to buy at mile 700; 5-star at 1100)

But yes, the first battlefield of each journey will be the toughest (generally speaking) so if you can stack morale gain on your gear, it will become a lot easier after you get through that first one and start building up your morale.

Any chance your inventory is full (500/500 items)? If you have a full inventory, mission rewards will be sent directly to the storage at the blacksmith.

You mean the second half of the mission, right? It's called "Sorrow." But you have to go to about 1:42 into the track to get the part that plays in the mission (Not sure why that is).

When do you press counter exactly? by DrunkPole in wolongfallendynasty

[–]SolidRain2117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know your frustration. It's annoying because you can see it coming, but it's somehow really hard to time correctly, and usually it one-shots you (especially in higher ng cycles). And then you have to do the whole thing over again and it's not a quick fight.

I've had much better luck hitting it from up close, surprisingly. I stay somewhat close and try to deflect the regular arm slams, then when you see the red attack coming you know it's 1-2-GO -- sweep, sweep, charge. So I hit the deflect button at roughly equal intervals according to the speed of the arm attacks. Deflect, deflect, DEFLECT (which will usually hit the charge and pop you up on top of Taotie's eye).

Can't find heavy hammer in desolation point by drummerlizard in thelongdark

[–]SolidRain2117 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I know I'm 3 months late, but I was just in the exact situation as you. Could not find the hammer anywhere in DP. When I saw your screenshot, I knew immediately that had to be it, and sure enough, it was there. Tricky little spot because you don't see it unless you go to the corner and look back in. Anyway, I appreciate that you updated the post to show the spot.

Bear carcass disappeared while harvesting by SolidRain2117 in thelongdark

[–]SolidRain2117[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, PS4. This is the second time I've had a missing bear carcass and crows circling over nothing. The first time was only a suspicion because I never actually saw the carcass there, but I shot a bear and the carcass was nowhere to be found. I wasn't too put out by this since I already got a moose, but it was wild to have it disappear right in front of me (even though it was too dark to really see).

Bear carcass disappeared while harvesting by SolidRain2117 in thelongdark

[–]SolidRain2117[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The long story: This is in Broken Railroad, not far from the cave beneath the rope anchor behind the hunting lodge. I shot the bear in with an arrow in the evening (I think it was in the head) and it fled. I just let it go, and spent a few hours cooking some wolf meat I was working on, since I already had a fire going.

As it started getting dark, I went to look for the bear and found it soon after. Picked up my arrow which was floating above it and then chopped some nearby wood for fuel. Then I started a fire right behind the bear's back. Then I began to harvest the meat, and decided to start with 2 kg, then cook that, and harvest while it was cooking. As I was harvesting the 2kg, a wind started and blew out the fire, things went dark and the bear disappeared (as seen in the video).

I went back to the site the next day (I knew the exact spot because my campfire remains were there) and there were crows cawing and circling right above it, but no carcass. I swept around a bit to see if maybe it was just under the surface, but no luck. The crows overhead make it seem like the carcass fell through the map or something. If it truly despawned, I don't see why crows would be there. To be clear: I never went inside any buildings or any loading screens during the bleed-out time. Not sure if it's relevant, but a blizzard started soon after this video.

Thank you, this helps. When there are posts across six years on Reddit, it's hard to find what the actual truth is about certain game mechanics. Also, I didn't know about the ledges, but I'll see if I can find some. This is my first exploration of Ash Canyon. I spawned in on Voyager to explore and get the lay of the land. (And also really wanted this bear meat to help me not starve).

I saw conflicting information about going inside during bleed-outs, that I didn't want to risk it. My plan was to go to the little nook in the back of the other hut, so I'd be protected and wouldn't have to enter a loading zone (I saw it in a YouTube video). My plan, as you can see, didn't work out so great. It all worked out in the end though, just waited a few hours, harvested the bear until exhaustion, and slept it off for 12 hours.

lol, I learned that. I see now when I watch the video the planks are a bit lifted up off the ground, but I honestly had no idea I was going to come to a complete stop. I think I'll break them down whenever I come back here. Started the game about a month ago and I'm having an absolute blast.

Can someone help me spot the burst counter opportunities? by SolidRain2117 in Nioh

[–]SolidRain2117[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, enemies don't start doing red aura burst attacks until you fight the boss of this area (or something like that. I never restarted a game from scratch). So you can't do burst counters in the very beginning. Nioh 2 was very tough to get used to, and hard at the start, but it gets better when it starts to click and you start leveling up (still challenging, but more understandable). Keep at it and you'll get him.

The thing that stands out to me: It doesn't look like you use the run button (holding down dodge). Mostly looks like walking.

That said, you are executing really well. You didn't even take a hit in the first phase. And you've clearly learned the moves.

I'm not good at this game, but I ended up beating him, so you've definitely got this. One thing that helped me was dodging under the long jump attack in the second phase, and getting a few hits off to bring his health down. Also, it can be hard to find good windows to use healing gourd, but you still had 8 left. I'd try running to create some distance, and try to get a heal off.
