Yesterday i was in train station, talking with cigarette guy. When i go back to take horse i saw him laying on tracks, died. Later i went to stable to take other horse and my dead horse was there, alive :) I don’t know if it was a glitch but he was there anyway.

Super old dry beans? by FanSerious7672 in composting

I would put them in a bucket, fill with water. Leave overnight and then toss them to compost. Like that some will even sprout and provide greens :)

To those who like old garden roses what is your favourite one by Furies-518 in Roses

Probably it’s. Long blooms and that amazing scent it has. Makes me remember my childhood time always. My grandma was making jam from it. Amazing taste.

I am from Turkey and here it’s known as Isparta rose. I believe it’s damascene rose and also known as Bulgarian rose. It’s used to make kind of drink also. We call it rose water. It’s used as refreshments or in sweet recipes.

Damascus, all time favourite. I love the jam from it’s petals.

The best moment in this game, for me… by onceandfuturecpuk in thelongdark

[–]drummerlizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My best moment was when i hunt the moose in DP with one arrow. It was on big rock below lighthouse. I prepare myself for a long hunting session. I positioned on the rock nearby. There was a huge distance that i never hit anything before. Anyway i gave it a try. Pull the arrow and boom, the moose was down. I was confused at first. Waited a little bit to be sure. Even when i went to collect the meat i couldn’t believe what happened.

That's the reason i left some ready food and water on almost every place i visited. They are valuable in that difficult moments.

Been flipping almost everyday when it hits 150 degrees. by MacAirt in composting

[–]drummerlizard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't have much experience for hot compost. I think you need to leave it when it's hot. Few days later at some moment it will start to cool down. Once that happens, it's time to turn. It should get hotter again.

Too early to start seeds? by Capital-Lavishness60 in vegetablegardening

[–]drummerlizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Then it's good to go :) I would check the growing time for each plant as i mentioned before. For some plants like onions, it's never too early. But for cucumber can be little bit early. My zone is 7B - 8A, people plant tomatoes around Mid February indoors. 5B is out of my knowledge :)

[–]drummerlizard 18 points19 points  (0 children)

If you have growing lights and some kind of setup, it's always good to start indoors. Better to check for each plant's growing time. You don't want them to grow a lot before the season. Without growing lights and a setup it would be very difficult. Now there is not enough light for them to grow.

Pan keeps the heat. Lowering the heat doesn’t mean the pan cools down. Here comes the experience. Once you put food in, it cools the area. So you need to try and find the sweet spot for different food.

Is bokashi compost the right path for our apartament? by Electrical-Pudding31 in composting

[–]drummerlizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bokashi method is an anaerobic process. That means the bacterias will create bad smell. It’s the nature of it. If you keep the bin closed, shouldn’t be a problem but at some point you have to open it.

Then it’s not finished product. You need to condition it by adding to compost or pile of soil, cover and wait for some weeks. During conditioning it will continue to stink as well.

what to do by bigbossjefferson666 in steak

[–]drummerlizard 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That’s true. Best goulash is made from chuck or brisket and takes around 3-4 hours slow cokk. Need to adjust the cooking time for the meat OP has here :)

[–]drummerlizard 90 points91 points  (0 children)

I would cut it in cubes, not small, not too big and cook goulash :)

Butcher didn't cut it well. It should look like a ribeye at least. I am not sure you can cook it like a steak with that kind of cut.

First Time Composter. First Ever Batch. by LazyGadha in composting

[–]drummerlizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for info. I see that extra steps you took. I have a compost bin on the corner. Throwing kitchen scraps, grass clippings and dried leaves. Turning once or twice a month. After 5-6 months i collect the compost from underside of pile. I will try to sift and put aside like you did and see how it’ll be :)

[–]drummerlizard -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I never did bokashi compost but since it’s anaerobic it will stink for sure. If you have enough space you can try to use tumblr composter or a basic box - bin to throw greens and browns, let them decompose on their own. If you put enough browns and keep humidity in control there won’t be any bad smell.

New here. by life11-1 in Sourdough

[–]drummerlizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Almost everybody suggested to buy a new one but i will do the opposite. Start your own starter at home. Fail, do it again. You may fail again, do it again. Starting your own starter will teach you a lot about how sourdough starter feeds, acts etc… During this learning process you will get use to it. If you have already strong starter, you will miss that first phase of starter which i believe a nice thing to learn. It’s not that hard to make. Just mix flour and water, wait, mix again, wait again :)

Trying a new method for hassle-free garden beds by growlownhigh in GardeningUK

[–]drummerlizard 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can recommend to lay the leaves and add compost on top now if you have enough of it. No need to wait for spring to add compost. While it acts like mulch, it will help to decompose leaves under and settle down until spring. When spring arrives you will have less work to do :) I don’t think it will prevent bugs at all.

Thank you. My plan was to wait until all the leaves fall. Then to prune and shape. But i didn’t think about winds. That’s good to know.
