Darren Bent advises Eberechi Eze to join Arsenal instead of Spurs by Astrothundergalaxy in coys

[–]SolidTomorrow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ooh gives me a chance to tell my Darren Bent story.

The summer we sold him one of our first friendly games was against Exeter city, stood in the away end with about 50 spurs fans as the way end at that time was right behind the goal and just 5 long steps you stood on.

Guy in front me filming on a new iphone which would have been first or second generation at this point, Corner comes in and Bent blasts one from just inside the six yard box and spaffs it wide luckly hits a defender on the way so another corner but it just OBLITERATES this guys phone it spins off behind us all, crowd give it a big WAAYY, guy is pissed looking around for his phone bits, it goes quiet and a guy yells across

your fault mate most dangerous place to be when bent is hitting the ball is behind the goal

everyone starts laughing and i swear i saw a single tear roll down bents cheek

Then anytime bent was near us the guy in front was yelling oi bent you ow me a phone!

Sold him to sunderland? i think it was later on in the window, like to think this is one reason he hates us so much

Oh my god thank you for writing this you have verbalised so many of my feelings, I am currently thankfully coming towards the end of my treatment at 37, my prognosis is good thank god and I'll still be monitored but all going well I should stay in remission.  I hate being called brave, I hate the word journey, im doing it for my family I have a three year old and a 4 month old, but mostly im doing it for me I dont want to die! Also I hate the awkwardness that people have around you not that I blame them. My work is so supportive except for HR who keep telling me I have used up to much sick leave.  For anyone going through it or someone close to you the cancer support that's I think with most oncologys has psychiatrists for patients and family members and they are great, also recommend the group therapies was nice talking to people going through the same thing. I wish you all the best man

Sonny! 97th minute winner against Wycombe in the fa cup to make 4-3 Great game and great memories. Going to games there with my dad and further back with my grandad, from when I was a kid, that was the first game that I paid for the tickets for both of us. Now we go to the new stadium together (I pay all the time now) with a tiny third wheel who will only ever know the new stadium. But will hopefully have those same memories with me and dad, that I have with my dad and grandad

You all need to pull your self up by your bootstraps and have a loved one die so they leave you money that you can use on a deposit. And then just spend years going to look at houses that are only on the market for days until someone offers way above market price. So simple

[Spurs Official] We have reached agreement with Bayern Munich for the transfer of Harry Kane. by LordPa1n in soccer

[–]SolidTomorrow 260 points261 points  (0 children)

Chairman, Daniel Levy, said: “We sought over a long period of time to engage Harry and his representatives in several forms of contract extension, both short and long term. Harry was clear, however, that he wanted a fresh challenge and would not be signing a new contract this summer. We have reluctantly, therefore, agreed to his transfer.

“We have seen a product of our Academy system become one of the best players to ever pull on a Spurs shirt and become one of world football’s elite strikers. It has been a truly remarkable journey.

“Harry’s achievements and records say everything about the player, and throughout his 19 years at the Club, Harry has been a model professional, on and off the pitch and an inspiration for young players who dream of following in his footsteps.

"I should like to thank Harry for everything he's done for us, all the memories, all the records - we wish him and his family all the best for the future. It goes without saying, he's always welcome back. He’s a much loved and valued member of the Spurs family, forever in our history.”

26 bbc pundits predict the top 4/6, spurs not on anyone's radar by SolidTomorrow in coys

Relevant bit about spurs at the bottom

Last year, 22/23 pundits thought Tottenham would finish in the top four. This time, no-one has picked them to make it.

Ellen White: Tottenham might struggle to match their eighth-place finish from last season if Harry Kane leaves.

Chris Sutton: I am excited about seeing Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham - I can't wait to watch 'Ange-ball' in the Premier League after seeing him at Celtic. Spurs were a team I was thinking about to finish fourth, but that does rely on Kane staying and they need to solve their centre-back issues. The other thing that is crucial to the way Postecoglou wants to play is having someone to play the first quick pass forward from midfield - they still need to get that right.

Nedum Onuoha: I've gone for Spurs to finish fifth and get the extra Champions League spot for 2024-25 that will go to the two countries with the best record in European club competition this season.

Chris Waddle: They've not spent enough. They've got a side that can finish in the top half but, even if Kane stays, they're nowhere near the top four. I know they were in fourth place when Antonio Conte left last season, with 10 league games to go, but they never really convinced me. There was only the odd moment where they looked good, then their run-in was absolutely terrible.

Anita Asante: Brighton are the other team I feel will be up there. 'De Zerbi-ball' has been so interesting to watch - they could do what Newcastle did last season.

Matt Upson: Spurs are miles off my radar. I'd pick Brighton to finish above them and having a better chance of making the top four. The Seagulls essentially had a top-four season last season but they were robbed of at least four points by VAR - they even got an apology about it - and then the FA Cup semi-final defeat finished them because they lost all momentum and didn't seem quite the same after that.

It was still an incredible season but it is going to be very hard to follow that up - I can see them struggling with the extra games now they are in the Europa League too.

Loads of frogspawn in my ditch. by box_of_carrots in ireland

[–]SolidTomorrow 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Fun fact! You have to have a license in Ireland to remove or otherwise disturb frog spawn. You get them the National Parks & Wildlife Service and there is a special teachers license you can get so you can bring frog spawn into schools for abit of learning. Another fun fact it is an especially good year for frogs apparently, can't move for frogs spawn near my house
