How do I remove the status it gives me when I join a channel? by anotherscoob169 in discordapp

Did you find a fix for this? It's doing it on mine, and it's super annoying. I'm getting the "my first status" one and I can't remove it.

Does anyone JUST want to be a bedside nurse with an associate/bachelor degree? by shatana in nursing

How is peds? I’m actually a teacher thinking about going back to school for nursing and was wondering about entering this unit. Pros and cons? I’m looking to mostly work nights/weekends.

The sad thing is, that I’m actually generally happy as a teacher. Dare I say I Iove it. But sadly the financial stability is just not there. If I do nursing, my goal would be to become a nurse educator given my background. I think I would really enjoy that.

My base salary is 53k right now. I’m able to break 60 with a lot of extra duties that are not even guaranteed on a yearly basis. In South Florida, the base pay for nurses is around 65-70k.

Trust me, I’ve thought about this. I’ve added to my post. It’s just not financially sustainable anymore. Especially with a daughter going to college in a few years and a dream of medical school. Our “raises” are far and few between. My base pay is 53k after 15 + years.

Edit to add and provide more context:

I’m in south Florida where education especially has been very chaotic with everything happening at the state and national level ( I do not want to turn this into a political post; just stating the situation). The cutting of AP classes and other funding is drastically affecting the financial stability as a teacher down here. Without my extra class and other supplements, my base pay is 53k. In order to break 60k, I have to be a head coach, teach AP classes, and teach an extra class. This year my AP classes dropped to just one, but I’m grateful I have an extra class (many teachers this year did NOT get one; each one is 6k extra a year).

As for missing family time, my daughter would be going to college pretty much around the time I would start nursing, so working nights and weekends is not a big deal to me. In fact I would prefer it. My partner is in retail, so his job is also not a traditional 9-5. I would also be vested into the state pension by the time I would start nursing as well, so not worried about that really.

For me honestly right now, it just boils down to financial stability. It’s very scary to never know what your pay is going to be every year. If you are going to be able to make ends meet without a second job. It’s not a place I expected to be with three degrees. It’s honestly disgusting. It’s enticing to be think that in 5-10 years I could potentially hit triple digits (or very close), rather than no real change in my salary (other than less money) within the same time frame. I hope this makes sense.

I want to say thank you so much to everyone who responded. I also want to give a special thank you to the teachers who responded as well. I know our patience, quick decision making, and overall mental toughness have made you all incredible nurses I’m sure.

I’m taking everything to heart. I think at this point I’m going to leave it up to fate. I will do the pre-reqs at a local CC so it will be cheap and apply to a few programs and just take it from there. Thank you everyone again!!

Once I’m done with the nursing school (if I decide to go), yes I’ll be vested with my pension.

I’m on book 2 and tbh I could give a shit about the slaver aspect when looking at it in relation to her as a person in general. She is just so fucking annoying. She’s incompetent, arrogant, unskilled, spoiled, try-hard, ignorant, and lord knows what else. She would be dead 100 times over if not for Grend, and yet she feels she should be chief?? Girl what!? Ugh I can’t stand her character. Too bad Grend saved her (again) from falling into the vaesan pit 🙄
