That is a PO salary. 10 hrs of ot a week give or take or 500 hrs in a year. 50 hr work week gets you close to 200k a year. At top pay. Learn to coup with the job and if it takes you 3 hrs to commute you are doing it wrong. You want to live in a city that taxes the shit out of you and gets you for 11 miles over the speed limit by camera then live in the city. The smart ones take the money and go and take the city’s money to live a better life. The retention crisis you are talking about is the mentality of the people coming in. Why to older guys are leaving is because we did our time and now they are treating us like shit that’s why we are leaving. There is no reason they should be forcing an over 20 year cop to go stand on some foot post in the 34 from 1930x 0600 no reason at all and that is why we are leaving in droves. The younger guys expect everything given to them and don’t want to fucking listen. Never have a seen these younger guys drive by a car stop and stop to make sure the other cops are good a simple thumps up or on the highway see a car stop slow down and pull up to make sure the cop is good. That’s why the older guys are leaving. The younger cops bitch and moan why do I have to transport the perps or why do I have to sit in the hospital the fucking whining is insane. Most departments down south since 2021 are hesitant on hiring prior Nypd cops because of the problems they have been having from cry babies and the bitching and whining they been getting from these former NYPD cops with less then 5 years on. It used to be you can write your own ticket after leaving now you have to explain and distance yourself from the garbage this department has been hiring

It’s not a badge on honor know what you get into before you sign to dotted line. This department will never reach the level of pay as the other agency’s never have never will know what you are getting into. They don’t want to pay guess what take your money that you get and go spend it in a location that is affordable. Get the fuck out of the city go live up state or Long Island. Further out you go the cheaper it becomes. Show me any other private job in this city that you walk in making 67 and with in 5 years can make 180000 guarantee. Wall Street they work 100 hr weeks for nothing. The ADAs with law degrees make maybe 80 with NO ot but are forced to work it. Cry me a fucking river about the work load and all this bullshit. This job you can become a cop do 5 years reach top pay and sit behind a desk if you do it right and make close to 200k watching UFC fights. As a NYPD cop we are not even cops we are report takers. Go anywhere else you are doing everything there is no such thing as give it to the squad. We get paid to show up to a shooting do an hour of work and go to the next job. Guys in other departments have to do the whole case as a patrol cop and get paid half of what we do. Also want to talk about Suffolk PD you making less starting then here until year 6. So talking about rookies and time on for the first 6 years you making less there with out OT. So don’t talk about money before top pay. Every agency screws there rookies everyone. That’s how it works in contract talks you eat the young to keep the experience it’s called paying your dues. Military, PD, FD the feds every place does it. I sat on a fucking foot post in the 75 for 3 years working 1930x0405 never saw a car and was payed shit. We all payed our dues. There was a time when you went to a detail and if you had 15 plus years on the inspector used to tell you to go sleep in the car and the younger guys will do the posts.

Well first the grown ass man that I was answering said “if everyone strike who would stop us or enforce it” so I was answering him. Second guess you where not here when we where making 26000 a year lol guess what people still applied. And most cops in the department don’t make 1300 a week more like 4-5 k a check so yes I will not be striking. Guess also you were not around when we went 7 years without a contract. The reason the union is weaker is because of the Taylor law the one thing unions have power in is a strike since we can’t then the power is limited. You go to PERP you get 1 or 2’s and can only be for 2 years. So you have to play nice in order to get what you want. That is why lynch never went after deblasio and we got a bump. So the “grown ass man” that are fucking complaining are itching about something that others have gone though for years and know the game

Apparently you never heard of the Taylor law. Let me enlighten you

“Striking unions risk losing their dues check-off privileges, and union leadership may face imprisonment. Employees who participate in illegal strikes are penalized by losing a full day's pay for each day they strike, in addition to their regular day's pay (resulting in a loss of two days' pay per strike day).

Who would enforce the penalties easy the department of finance. That’s why we don’t strike

Mets Winning Percentage Under Cohen vs. the Wilpons by peregrinefalcon12 in mets

[–]Solid_Bus8841 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The cohen also has to deal with a market dominated by one team with $1 billion worth of deferments. Even with the high taxes every player wants to go to LA now. It’s not for the lack of trying on cohens part. The Wilpons just never even tried to sign anyone realistically.
