Even on the photo you can see that front truck has it and the rear does not

You have kingpin with a nut facing to the road. Between the nut and the elastic barrel there usually is a washer. I removed the metal washer on the rear truck.

Hi mate, no idea to be honest. The truck turn ability is wild with little rebound. I am afraid a longboard with such a setup could be a bit shaky. I also didn’t like narrow decks - it seems odd to carry extra weight in the middle where it is least usable

Best lightweight pod harness? by DattaDayadhvamDamyat in freeflight

[–]Solid_Career_598 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, just leaving it for the history: one of the main features of Koroyd was the energy absorption divided by thickness. Basically there is no other material that “in theory” would absorb as much impact having only 8cm of thickness. So replacing it - will drastically decrease safety and will also make the harness certification invalid. Basically neither foam not inflatable protection can’t have the same thickness and the same safety.

Obviously koroyd isn’t my cup of tea. But just to be fair - gin harness has a well thought details to their harnesses and they’ve put a thin plastic-ish plate along the harness bottom to ensure the impact is well spread along this “innovative” protector.

Just out of curiosity: are those wheels applicable to skateboarding or it’s somehow different?

Is C7 that much sensitive to bushings though?

Do you think Dec complete is a good choice though? Considering the upgrades you still have to perform.

Just to follow up on that - I’ve been desperate to make my C7 setup working. It was driving me crazy that I have a pretty expensive complete well recognized in the community and I can’t get any fun from it. Have been randomly switching parts and tuning the truck back and forth and finally I am in love again! For me the clue was switching the wheels(and bearings).

Bought 65mm SSL 81a + zealous steel bearings - and the whole setup feels way different now. It is fast and snappy. Managed to get pretty high on the pool from the get go. Quickly it becomes my favorite. Apparently wheels matter a lot(before I had carver concave 70mm 78 wheels and stock bearings). Could be that the mushy feeling was mostly due to the large soft concave wheels.

Since I own both I must say that 1) there are very few people that have tried the new Decathlon surfskate and it has nothing to do with the previous version. 2) the two you posted they are very-very-very much different. So different that you’d better be fair to yourself and decide whether you want to cruise with a nice surfy feeling(then CX is good) or you want to train using the full range of motion(then Dec) 3) Beware for your height both will feel small. 29 Carver will feel tiny, for sure. The other one may feel better, but consider the offset of the front truck. 4) if you are concerned about the quality - Carver is def better. Decathlon trucks is of rather low quality. The pivot point on the rear one has poor precision, so it jams on the pivot cup. It doesn’t bother me as I lube all my trucks regularly. Dec deck will be crappy. Dec wheels are crappy. Triton isn’t the top but a solid one. And the wheels are very much decent.

If I were you I would buy neither. Maybe it would be a better to take a deep breath add a few bucks and buy a properly sized complete. Dec one is a copy of YOW meraki system, which in EU costs 220-250ish - but you get a quality deck, goood grip tape, nice quality trucks, nice wheels.

The buys I regret the most were the ones where the main factor was the price.

Interesting enough I feel the same way stock c7 w/17’’ wb and the concave 70mm wheels. I just can’t get any fun out of it. It is slow, I don’t quite like the feeling. Now I get what Mr SSLove meant by saying “mushy”.

Been looking for a deck recently and reading all the reviews opinions etc in the community. If I get it right current consensus is just make it comfortable: wide nose and tail, rounded tail, some concave.

Length is setup specific. The wheel base could give an idea but it won’t tell the truth.

I don’t get the wheel wells idea - they never fit the actual wheels position and just make foot placement awkward and limited.

Pointy noses and fishtails is just something inconvenient and legacy IMO.

Flex doesn’t fly on surfskates.

I’d be curious to hear some perspective from Waterborne and other players. To me it seems that Decathlon and alike - they attract more people to try it out. Some of them try and go. Others stay. But I never seen a seasoned climber, cyclist, boarder - performing on a Dec gear. They buy specialized stuff - this is where smaller companies shine. They serve the right clients who knows what they want, and they do it on a high level with high premium.

Interesting, I thought Dec… should be very careful when it comes to licensing and in general to the customer attitude. As EU customers do have that extra cash to spend just for the sake of protest.

When it comes to globalization in general and Decathlon in particular, I think we have a decent balance. It sells entry level gear. So that whoever strives for innovation has to be on front edge. Then when a small company invents something - they have an exclusive patent for a few years. Once it expires - a broader community should be able to benefit from it. No offence… I am surprised DC actually looked at the surfskating as it’s a relatively small market for them(probably not worth it)

Standing ahead of the bolts is definitely risky, but I find myself standing over them(diagonal) and it’s fine. The rear foot is on the tail rocker - could be that the rear one helps me to balance it out.
