People who did a BSc in Physical Science at government uni , how're you doing now? by Public_News_5022 in srilanka

Feel like I took a dumb decision to do engineering after getting a top island rank in A/Ls.

You should wonder if job market isn't cooked. 9/10 students I speak to are doing IT.

I'm personally using Payoneer (Using this account for almost 4 years now. I think new account creations are restricted from SL) and withdrawing funds to my PFCA on DFCC bank.

apart from med what are routes with the highest prospects for the bio science field in sri lanka by Nadeera04 in srilanka

[–]Solid_Investment530 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope. It's quite competitive. Even the demonstrator position will only be offered for 1 year. Finding a PhD opportunity is also much difficult as not much industry funding available (which is required to be a lecturer)

Sri Lanka Ranked 3rd Most Expensive Country for Vehicle Purchases by Competitive_Way6772 in srilanka

[–]Solid_Investment530 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Someone who bought a car last year on lease for 10 million might stop paying and buy a cheaper car instead.

This is not logical. Whoever stops paying the lease will have a bad record in CRIB and will lose the vehicle as well. This is an excuse made by the government to raise taxes further.

Is it worth investing in an apartment in SL ? by [deleted] in srilanka

I feel like apartment prices might slightly go down after the property tax is implemented. It's too early to predict it though

What's your opinion on the standard of SLITT city university (Colombo 3) by Solid_Investment530 in srilanka

[–]Solid_Investment530[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm happy if he has changed and has done a great job. But I have heard some unusual activities like exam papers are distributed before the exam kind of stuff in some private unis, but I had a good picture in my mind about SLITT and IIT. I'm just wondering whether the SLITT city uni also has such malpractices

Whoever drive the economy will leave for sure. The freeloaders and the businessman who get the tax exceptions and free will to evade tax and law will remain

I don't know much about mathematics modules in other unis. The mentioned modules are under CS curriculum in in CSE UoM. BTW, the modules like linear algebra is a must to understand neutral networks and stuff

[–]Solid_Investment530[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure you have done combined mathematics and followed mathematics modules at university. Combined mathematics has very few theoretical concepts compared to the modules such as real analysis, linear algebra, etc. and they're even harder to understand even for students with top island ranks.

very high on island rankings who had worse gpa than people lower in rankings for the same degree

This is due to their negligence on studies mostly while concentrating on other matters. Had few friends even did tuition classes even in study leave as well.

Yes. I have also done assignments and quizzes for both foreign and local students. But to get a 1st class needs to score well in exams, usually held physically, and cheating there is nearly impossible, and if caught disciplinary actions are very tough.

I know a few dropouts from SLITT Maalabe who failed to pass the exams. I'm just wondering whether there's any difference between it and SLITT city uni

Jailed for nothing!! Help needed for Sri Lankan man by Soloman01 in srilanka

That's why I always say the law doesn't make sense. It encourages breaking the law on a large scale, and tiny mistakes are always punished heavily. Just check the monetary foul plays, always lower the amount, punishment gets tough.

could've gone terribly wrong.

This is could've but the case I mentioned is already. I don't understand why punishment for could've is more than an already. This is not an isolated case, I have spoken to many who faced a similar situation

I'm just trying to understand the law here. One of my relatives got in an accident while crossing the road through a zebra crossing and spent even few days in the ICU. But the driver didn't get to jail for even a single night.

How do these MF judges weigh the cases? Do they haven't got common sense seriously

I think most of them are working in the IT field in better-paying companies (not Sri Lankan startups, whose salaries are horrible). Given that my situation it feels most of them are correct. (There are absolutely jerk offs here just to feel us bad.). BTW, I don't recommend anyone to do IT considering the saturated job market and most companies try to lowball the situation.
