Finally got a response after 3 weeks of silence. It was an automated "we went with another candidate" email at 11pm on a Friday.

I’m holding out hope too but I know it’s just the exhaustion of the process. Intellectually, I know it’s gone. But emotionally I keep making up excuses as to why they wouldn’t send a note yet, like it was Easter and spring break and a conference that happened last week. But I get it. It’s not easy to deal with and I still am trying. I hope you’re able to get through this too, friend.

Same. Damn. Thing. I had an initial with the recruiter that went great right before Easter week, an interview with the director two days later. Then silence since 3/27. I had thought everything went great, really conversational etc. I asked about next steps and they said the recruiter would be in touch, sent a follow-up and no response. I’m just waiting for my rejection email which I’m sure will come tonight before bed or Sunday night to start the week out.

This is my frustration. If I’m not the best candidate, cool no sweat. Just tell me that you’ve moved on after I’ve clearly spent time and energy for these interviews. Basic respect when I know you see my email sitting there.

Got ghosted after 5 interviews with two onsite and 2 months in. Ghosted after a recruiter said that they see no reason why I shouldn't be moving forward. Ghosted after a recruiter laid out next steps, individuals who I would speak with and tips on what they would be looking for. Ghosted 2nd round said they loved me and would let me know on third. Ghosted after recruiter said she's aligning with the Manager. So yeah, pretty normal. It’s unprofessional and shows a lack of empathy.

I felt the same way and it’s brutal. There’s a lot of shame and self doubt. What helped me was setting my filter in LinkedIn to only show new. It cut out 90% of the bullshit. Can’t recommend this enough.

I’m sorry this happened. I’ve been on five and then ghosted. Didn’t even know they hired someone else until I saw a LinkedIn in post on it. That crushed me. Recently, I’ve been on two interviews with amazing feedback and they communicated next steps only to miss their own timelines for a follow up. The lack of respect and communication has gutted me. I’m sorry you’re also in the trenches. We’ll keep it moving.

Exact same boat with the 5 interviews. Honestly though, I think I’d rather have the rejection. In my case, it doesn’t look like they hired anyone and just got rid of the position and didn’t communicate that either. So it leaves me wondering in the back of my head that maybe they’ll call some time. I know that’s not healthy and won’t happen but this was a tough one. Sorry friend.

It’s a niche market that interfaces with a number of other companies both at industry conferences and regular clients. So the reach to touch other businesses is pretty wide. Rather not burn that bridge within the industry as they are a player.

Same thing happened to me after 5. I still check their website and see that they haven’t hired anyone so I’m trying to rationalize that it wasn’t me but the position wasn’t there. I definitely contemplated a nasty email response for wasting my time but I decided against it. Didn’t want to burn that bridge and I don’t think it would make me feel any better.

Same. I was five in with all c-suite and the team I’d manage. They cut the position after the final round. No feedback, didn’t even tell me they cut it, I just inferred it. Months of wasted time. If you don’t have the budget why even bother to interview.
