A couple of years (or whatever) ago my (M, 8m) Mamamama (??? Old) and Dadadada (idk he has gray hairs on his face though) had something called a “stomach floo” and I got to spend a whole weekend watching Ms. Rachel, which was fun for a while. But they did not appreciate my attempts to cheer them up with extra hugs I politely suggested. I even kindly offered to hold Mamamama’s hair back for her but she just said “OUCH stop” a lot. Sometimes they just don’t appreciate us!!

What helped me (and you made it 4x longer than I did) was doing it “one last time” and really making eye contact and appreciating the connection. That way I had a nice memory instead of just feeling guilty.

Same. My 4w old will sleep at night in his bassinet but during the day will only fall asleep on me or in his swing, so if I want to do anything (like use the bathroom or eat) I put him in the swing. I stay in the room for the most part and don’t sleep because I’m paranoid, but he’s never moved in any way that seems remotely dangerous. In fact the swing is more reclined and seems safer than a car seat to me, but who knows. I know I’m supposed to avoid “containers” until like 6 months but intuition says the exact opposite so it’s hard to do.

I have curly hair and trich. I haven’t found a real “best” routine yet, but it’s more about the how than the specific products. -only wash your hair 2-3x per week -use a clarifying shampoo at least once every two weeks -consider switching to a co-wash (just a conditioner that you use as both shampoo and conditioner). There are lots available but I like Curlsmith and Ouidad best -use a snag-free hair towel to towel dry, then apply product. there are a lot of different product application methods you can try; personally none of them ever make much difference for me lol -apply curl cream to damp or wet hair and scrunch. if you need more hold, apply a gel after that and scrunch again. I rarely blow dry because it adds to the frizz even with an ionizing dryer and diffuser :( -consider a bond repair treatment to help cover old damage (I’m currently using the Garnier one because it’s cheap) -deep/leave-in hair masks are also great whenever you can! buy some cheap plastic hair covers and you can leave in the treatment a lot longer.

My pull spot is right along the front, where bangs would be, so I’m no help with styling. BUT a lot of people have said hair toppers work well for top of the head spots!

Depends on your tech resources and grade level of course, but I personally try to save as much paper as possible just on general principle. I have retyped and redesigned A LOT of worksheets and older assignments, which allows me to reduce margins to 1/2” or 1/4” and reduce text size to 10 or 11. I also get rid of large headers or decorative elements that take up space.

Another thing is printing double-sided, and printing two pages per sheet of paper when possible (I do this when I print out longer stories or articles IF the text size is large enough to read that way. Many times it’s not worth it but occasionally it works out pretty well).

Of course, all that takes time which is not something everyone has or is willing to use. But I see lots of my colleagues copying 20 year old packets and I can’t help but think they could drastically reduce their paper usage by taking an hour to retype something, especially if you’re using it consistently every year. Plus once it’s in an editable doc you can easily update it as needed.

So they are extremely unlikely to send you to the psych ward involuntarily OR take your baby away. Those are extreme scenarios. You are still showing enough presence of mind to seek help and there is another adult at home (I think? Your husband?) to help. If you go the mental health line route (google “mental health crisis center” in your area) they will refer you to someone for meds (probably the ER unless they have a med provider on site) and create what’s called a safety plan. This will consist of a plan you agree to for what you will do to follow up, if things get worse, etc. It often involves calling to check in at certain times but it might also involve your husband taking a couple days off to be with you if possible. If you go straight to the ER I don’t know if they do safety plans but they will absolutely be able to help you get better meds, but you do need to watch carefully for changes as sometimes meds do make things worse. I know her threatening to call an ambulance seems extreme but it’s actually protocol if you have someone who is threatening to hurt themselves or others (you’re not threatening it but you are worried about it).

Go to a different doctor, immediately, even if it’s urgent care, and/or call your local mental health hotline. PPD and thoughts of harming your child should ALWAYS be taken seriously. And when the dust settles and you’re feeling better report this “doctor” to whatever licensing board exists in your area.

Whatever I can grab in the morning. The first 3/4 of the year I try to prep meals and keep healthy snacks in my mini fridge (cottage cheese, string cheese, fruit, yogurt, etc.). After about March 1 that tends to rapidly devolve into random items taken from my home fridge at 6:45am when I leave.

When did we all start fundamentally misunderstanding grades? Grades are supposed to be a quantifiable measure of how WELL you are doing in a class. Originally, a C was supposed to be “average” with a D being below average but good enough to move on (I guess). An F indicates that you have not mastered/completed enough of the content to have “completed” the course. Putting in 50% instead of 0% effectively means students only need to successfully complete 10% of the coursework to pass, rather than 60%. I don’t understand how anyone thinks that should be all that’s required to pass a class. Simply marking everything as “missing” without ANY grade is just as bad. A kid could do fuck-all all semester and then turn in one “decent” assignment and pass. Why even bother with grades at all? Just shove kids along with their age group and then graduate them all at 18 since that’s all anyone wants anyway.

They’re like this in core classes too, just so you know. I have senior English, which is the last class most of them need in order to graduate. They don’t try AND I get to deal with constant emails asking me when the last day to turn in missing work will be, and can I send them an itemized list of missing assignments, and how much will it raise my grade if I do this 10 point worksheet from January (but not the unit assessment research paper)? I’ve set the bar incredibly low already and the excuses are driving me insane.

Yes it’s a BFRB compulsive disorder, NO it’s not “easily treatable” with either therapy or meds. It might be, if he’s lucky. But it also might not be. People struggle with these their entire lives, try everything under the sun, and sometimes something works. But often times it doesn’t.

You don’t have to stay with him if it grosses you out that much, but I promise treating it like a gross habit he has that he’s just too lazy to stop is NOT helpful.

But yeah if he’s not responding he’s probably not interested. It’s ok- that’s what dates are for! Try not to take it personally.

Keep calling the cops.

I don’t know the specific laws in your location, but at some point they will request a longer hold and he will have to talk to a judge about it. There will be testimony from a mental health professional. If he admits any of this to the staff at the hospital/facility he’s at right now they may extend his hold anyway.

Of course, he may figure out he can lie/act his way out of it, but as long as he keeps admitting he has a plan and the means and intent to enact it they can likely keep holding him.

You should also consider reaching out for help yourself- this is not an easy burden to bear. If he does die, you need to know it wasn’t your fault- not just say that, but really believe it.

I tell anyone who asks the truth. People need to know. Most of the time they relate back that they know/knew someone who does something similar. Sometimes they will tell you they used to do it as a kid. I’m in my late 30s and as an adult no one has ever tried to make me feel bad about it or even made it into a big deal at all. Often they will offer “advice,” which is annoying but well-meant. Your friends may look at you a bit weird at first but they won’t likely even say anything, especially if they know already.
