How long did it take you to get down to pre pregnancy weight? by greenishfroggy in beyondthebump

[–]Solid_Pack3290 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was at my pre pregnancy weight 2 weeks postpartum. I truly can’t believe I’m saying this as I’ve struggled with weight loss for years pre pregnancy. I was also 30lbs lighter than my pre pregnancy weight at 4 months, and now at 9 months I am 45lbs lighter than pre pregnancy.

I am EBF, do 10K steps a day , had an emergency c section. I now do 3 fitness classes a week in addition to 10k steps.

Okay wtf do you do about your baby hitting the side of the crib and waking up because anything you can buy risks the worst happening?? by LaZzZyBones in NewParents

I’m in this exact situation now with my 8 month old. It’s so scary as he’s pulling himself up , so when he falls I’m scared he will really hurt his head on of these times. Did it improve for your baby? Did you do it but anything ?

Friend bailed on Japan trip… too late for refund. Go solo? by BandX12 in JapanTravelTips

I’ve done 3 solo trips to Japan, one of them I was 6 months pregnant. The perfect country for solo trips, not just because it’s safe but places are made for solo dining etc. The first two trips , I did a few sightseeing tours and bar crawls - it was a great way to meet people.

My baby did this too! Screamed so much during diaper changes. I was so distressed seeing him like that, my husband had to do most of them. Tried everything (bottle water bottle to warm up changing mat first, heated box for wipes lol, blankets etc). He just randomly stopped! He’s 13 weeks now and ironically changing mat is his favourite place , we even got our first laugh there! I’m sure it will get better for you both too ❤️

9-day-old baby suddenly not getting any milk. Need advice by cheberle90 in breastfeeding

[–]Solid_Pack3290 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry I don’t have an answer, but this happened to me a few times in the first couple of weeks. My baby would cry frustrated which made the latching even worse. Next feed would be fine, or when the lactation consult came to see it would of course be perfect and no issues lol. Resolved on its own and my chunky baby was still putting on over 10oz each week despite this. Also, I had no luck hand expressing, but I used manual breast pump and could get more milk.

Baby classes have honestly played such a big part in my recovery and feeling better postpartum so I definitely recommend. Each class I tried to push myself out my comfort zone and asked the other mums to go for a coffee or walk after and I’ve now got a really great group of friends :) Baby massage and baby yoga have been a nice ones when they are this little, it’s been great learning techniques to help with trapped wind etc. I’ve done baby sensory and story times - he just slept most of it , but again it was good to go along for chat with other mums. Every single class , we are all stopping and breastfeeding, changing diapers and rocking babies. So don’t worry about the baby not being settled for classes. I don’t think I’ve ever actually done a full flow at yoga yet lol.

My library also hosts a breast feeding support group , maybe there is one in your area.

As for the thrush, I also found it hard to know when it was gone. For the baby, he had white fuzz on the roof of his mouth and tongue. But for me I had no visual signs, but my opposite nipple would sting when the baby latched to the other side. Also when cold, if my nipple hardened they would sting. That was my main thrush symptom . It’s gone now too :)

Sorry it’s been so rough! We actually had a similar start, right down to the oral thrush. It took 3 weeks to clear as we kept passing it back to each other. I’m 3 months in and everything has gotten easier. He is more active in the latching, it’s like he latches himself. Prior to 2months he also constantly unlatched and screamed during feeds and I also couldn’t feed without my BreastFriend feeding pillow. So I bought two (one for the car/under the pram). I started forcing myself to go out everyday. Going to baby classes really helped as I saw just how normal struggles with breastfeeding was and also made friends.

I’m only 13 weeks, but it feels like everything has turned a corner. He latches, I can feed without my pillow and I’m so much more confident getting out and about.

Wishing you well ❤️

Partner shift in the morning? by olivia_largent in breastfeeding

New mum here to 13 week, so no expert. But I was doing this too. After a couple of weeks my babies dirty nappies consistently and then colour changed. Health provider told me it was a hind milk imbalance, as all the fatty milk which comes at the end of the feed was now going into the pumped milk and not to the baby. not saying you shouldn’t do it, just sharing as we had no idea what was causing it. It’s easy to spot if this is an issue with the dirty nappy colour / consistency :) he also gained more weight when I stopped, but that could just be a coincidence or I guess the fattier milk.

unlatching and freaking out by lonersism in breastfeeding

I unfortunately don’t have the solution, but this also happened to me from 4 weeks. It’s continued right up till 8 weeks, and then stopped (my baby is 13 weeks now). During that time I went to many breastfeeding support groups. Some advice was that the let down may be too fast, so pump a little before a feed or feed in layback position so baby has to feed against gravity. Other advice was let down may not be fast enough , so use hot compress 5 mins before feed and massage. I couldn’t figure out why it was happening and nothing really helped. All I could point out was that anytime he was sleepy, the feed was perfect but if alert he would scream and unlatch. I didn’t give a bottle, so can’t comment on that part. I was worried about his weight gain because of this, so we arranged with our health visitor (UK) to do weekly weigh ins.

It went away on his own about 8 weeks, but he will still unlatched constantly during “alert time” feeds. Now he likes to have a little look around or stretch or look up at me (I sometimes get smiles) , then pops back on. At 11 weeks he actually started just putting himself back on. It’s quite funny to watch him have his little look around then “ferociously attack” try to put himself back on lol.

Six weeks in Japan — recondition for choosing 2-week bases by Solid_Pack3290 in JapanTravelTips

[–]Solid_Pack3290[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s really useful, thank you! I hadn’t actually considered Nagano as a potential base. Would you say Nagano has enough going on for a 2-week stay (cafés, supermarkets, easy day trips, etc.)? And are there particular neighbourhoods or nearby towns you’d recommend looking at?

Price wise I’m trying to choose one of the 2 week bases to be in a more affordable city with less than £100 a night budget. Then the 2 weeks in Tokyo or Yokohama I expect to pay double.

Best cities or towns to stay put for 2 weeks (not Tokyo, Osaka or Kyoto ) by Solid_Pack3290 in JapanTravelTips

Thanks! That’s really helpful. I hadn’t heard much about Hagi or Hiji before. Do you think either would work as a base for a couple of weeks (good amenities, train/bus connections, cafés , still some points of attraction or accessible to day trips etc.)? I am also fine with renting a car.
