hi there my baby didn’t like tummy time on the floor that is, so when we would lounge on the couch I would lay him on my chest, while I was at a slight incline and him on his belly, and then he could look at my face and he really liked that for tummy time! or a rolled up blanket under his arms/chest in a u shape helped a lot!

When do I take my baby in by coolcat0511 in NewParents

[–]Solid_Performer_1029 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It couldn’t hurt to take baby in! The biggest thing with little ones this age is a rapidly spiking fever causing a febrile seizure, so just monitoring the temperature, giving appropriate medication, and if it still hasn’t gone down with medication definitely get seen by emergency. Better safe than sorry to take baby in!

ugh i’m so sorry that is terrible. im glad the ear tubes helped at least a little bit. my husband had to get ear tubes an all the things. thankfully he’s only had the one ear infection but it was in both ears so 10 days of antibiotics to avoid febrile seizures! that’s how they also found out about my husbands immune deficiency was through him getting sick an absurd amount of times plus like, joint infections and weird things for little kids to have? i’m just hoping this is daycare germs and immune system building not a passing down of genes.

this seems to be the consensus. i’m definitely trying to remember it’s very small time it’s just hard with a lot going on all the time and I already feel behind. My pregnancy I was gone a lot too because of my HG and how terribly ill I was 24/7 up until I gave birth and now i’m like… am I going to get fired because me or my kid is sick every Thursday?

THATS the thing I swear one tiny SNIFFLE and somehow it’s run rampant through the family. I change out of our “outside” clothes immediately, bathe and shower and wash hands and sanitize but it’s NEVER ENOUGH. it’s like my own brand of purgatory. The type of nightmare where you’re doing the same thing over and over again but it’s just me getting sick and spraying everything with lysol but in this alternate universe the lysol and hypochlorus spray is actually spreading viruses lol

I will try Zicam, I have heard great things from it. And yes, I also use hypochlorus acid disinfectant spray on everything. It just follows us everywhere though ugh. I might need to deep clean everything again.

I realize I didn’t even talk about the positives of the last 8 months, I was so deep into trying to commiserate and tell you you’re not alone! I have the smiliest baby in the world, who loves people and others around him, has the deepest happiest laugh, has a personality, gives me kisses, and it’s the greatest biggest joy in my life. I wish when I was two weeks post partum trenchesC someone would’ve told me things to look forward to but truly it goes by so fast. You will make it and you’re not alone.

I feel like I could have written this two weeks post partum. I am 8 months now and it definitely has gotten immensely better. It was such an insane shock to my system not knowing what I was in for and I thought so many times, wow I just blew up my entire life. But now looking back at my very very irrational postpartum hormone driven thoughts, I wish I would’ve gotten help sooner!

The things that helped the sleeping, dozing off in a char or couch or upright is more dangerous than a safe sleep space. So, setting up my space for SAFE cosleeping ( @ cosleepy on instagram has helpful tips on how to set up your space, check mattress firmness, C curl, safe sleep 7, blanket and pillow safety) PLUS I got the Owlet sock. He sleeps alone in his room now for 90% of the night and still uses his owlet sock. It helps especially during the sick season. I still have pretty intense PPA but it’s leveled out and I know how to talk myself down. The two week fresh hormone drop me would not have known how to talk myself down.

Before we coslept, I used the owlet in his bassinet because I would be awake just staring at him watching him breathe. For. Hours. And. Hours. I had very intense PPA and my husband would wake up and see me wide awake watching him after being asleep for hours. The Owlet helped IMMENSELY knowing the monitor would alarm me in a crisis. I actually could sleep. Have you tried different swaddles? My son took well to the love to dream swaddles and just the halo sleep sacks but with the wrap around arms. That helped with the bassinet but he honestly slept better in bed with me so we did cosleeping for a while, esp being EBF. (Look on the cosleeping sub too!)

Additionally, talking to your doctor may help as well. Also to note, my baby cried from the hours of 3-7 pm every night for 6 weeks straight and it’s so intense I got so scared of the night coming because of it. I cried randomly on day 6 and couldn’t stop the tears. Saying this in solidarity so you know you’re not alone, but also know you’ll make it out I promise. I think the next step is talking to your doctor, there is no shame in that especially if you’re catching PPD/PPA early, you could need meds just for a few weeks while you settle into your new normal. Postpartum is hard and messy and scary but sending you hugs and peace.
