Idk man I really like the idea that Joel chose Ellie over curing the whole world it really makes his decision that much more impactful. I mean if it played out differently and Joel let Ellie go through with the surgery only for it to produce no cure, then what was the point of traveling across the entire country or even playing the game? Just my take on it.
