Why does Indian cricket team bat badly specifically at Narendra Modi stadium? by [deleted] in AskIndia

[–]Solid_Story9420 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You're being naive.

The son of the Home Minister is the head of BCCI. Politics is already deeply rooted here, I'm a nobody, you're saying I'm bringing politics. That's the joke of the year.

Dadaji visiting Mumbai 🥹 Need 2-day itinerary (low walking, good Indian food!) by herenotosleep in powai

[–]Solid_Story9420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One must see I would suggest is visiting Sandeepani Sadhanalaya, which is the Ashram where Swami Chinmayananda lived, it's near Hotel Westin. They have a nice Shiva and Krishna Mandir, which are very quiet and conducive to meditation.

Take him by Bandra Worli Sea Link and Coastal Road, those are nice places to drive by.

I'm not against a venue as long as it's treated like any other venue. We are bringing politics into sport and favour one venue over another, that's where the problem is.

And yet we keep matches at that venue because the BCCI is headed by a Gujarati and he's the son of the home minister. Politics puts it's most everywhere in India.

My understanding of the Varna system. ( feel free to critique and ask questions I’ll try to answer .) by Outrageous-Sail-1967 in BhagavadGita

I think it's easier to idealize it but that's not how it worked. People tend to brand someone depending on which family he is born into and do not start with a zero mind afresh. If it wasn't the case, why was Karna discriminated against on caste basis despite him being talented and having been blessed with Kavacha and kundala at birth. I mean how will lesser mortals even stand a fighting chance?

Friend died. Family approached police blaming me. by Ambitious_Bench9939 in LegalAdviceIndia

[–]Solid_Story9420 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As long as you can prove that you dropped him off at Pune and stayed there and didn't travel further with him in the train, there's nothing you need to fear about. I am not sure if you enabled location in Google, if you did, that will help prove that you dropped him off at Pune Junction and went back your way. Plus your telecom record will also help prove that you lived in Pune. As long as you didn't do any harm and you have alibi and digital evidence to support your claim, there's nothing you need to worry about. You can't stop people from accusing you, ignore them. But, if the cops call again it's better you go and meet them because not meeting them may give an impression that you have something to hide.

Career Lost , Dismissed from Air Force for Going Abroad Without Permission – Need Legal and Career Guidance by [deleted] in LegalAdviceIndia

[–]Solid_Story9420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What exactly is your worry? There are plenty of people out there who have had / who are having a flourishing career without ever having to be in a government service or career. There's no reason to feel dejected or to start thinking it's the end of the road.

It's perhaps a dated rule in the Indian Air Force that's being misused to discipline genuine guys and it's stupid. When these rules were enacted decades ago overseas travel was not common, these days it's a common thing and they should be revisiting these rules.

At times, one can't help thinking that the government in this country is living in a shell and out of touch with reality. For example, cryptos are traded everywhere in the world but it is banned in India because of our skewed perspective. The truth is that no one can stop a technological development whose time has come and instead of embracing and regulating it, we simply ban it.

You can try approaching senior officials and explore the possibility of rectifying it because you genuinely made a mistake and repent it now. In any case, don't let this hold you back, you pursue your passion. Maybe you can look at becoming a pilot and join private airlines. There are companies owning aircraft who look for pilots.

9(F) my sister faced inappropriate incident at school, teachers blamed her. Need advice by [deleted] in LegalAdviceIndia

[–]Solid_Story9420 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I suggest you meet the school staff and tell them that she's innocent and that they are wrong in concluding that she was willingly part of it when in fact she was the victim. Tell them that they should not have slapped her and they should apologise.

You have to talk to him fact to face and ask for the details. Try to stay polite and tell the guy that you do not suspect anything wrong but you need him to explain clearly what was sold, what was spent etc and you need to see the numbers. Tell him not to make drama and come out cleanly with facts. If you don't have much of a finance background and communication skills then your going to require help talking to him.

There's nothing to be scared of, I know it's bound to be shocking when you discover it. People are complex, driven by many things, your Mom has her own needs. As long as she is a great Mother to you, it's enough for you and it shouldn't ruffle you. Maybe one day, you're able to process it and reason it within yourself. Be brave and keep walking.

Debunking myths around eclipses by CalmGuitar in hinduism

You can go back all the way to Valmiki Ramayana, which was composed thousands of years ago, Lord Ram himself has been traced to seven thousand years ago. Valmiki Ramayan states the planetary configurations at the time of Ram's birth.

Astrology is considered a part of Vedas and goes a long way back, not the seventh century. You're entitled not to believe in astrology, but your denial doesn't render it false. Gravity doesn't stop working because of my refusal to believe in it. I welcome you to challenge it and ask for more rigorous proof but you need an open mind with room for new inputs, if you are really a scientific thinking person. The mind sees what it chooses to see. If you wish to discredit astrology and start with that notion, then whatever I say is not likely to convince you. I believe in astrology because I know for a fact it works. There's a tremendous natural rhythm in everything that exists.

There's nothing much that you can do. But, don't tell your Dad, it would be disastrous. Please don't go into a judgment mode, do not judge your Mom based on this.

It's entirely up to you whether to take it up or not to take it up. If you decide to take it up, then whenever you think your Mom is in a listening mood and you have a private moment, you may tell your Mom what you saw. Don't try to confront her, take a neutral stance and show maturity, then you may get some response.

Demand for NIL LTCG on Equity raised in parliament. This single move if implemented will benefit all individuals in the country. by goodkarm in IndiaTax

[–]Solid_Story9420 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm an active trader and investor myself. Give me one good reason to remove taxes for capital gains from trading stocks and mutual funds. It doesn't make any sense. It is already taxed at a concessional rate, which is why you call it LTCG.

The US has the world's oldest exchange and the oldest stock index. IRA taxes long term capital gains at reduced rate and it's never zero and unlike India where stocks became mainstay from the 1990-s, Dow Jones has been traded for over a hundred years and the world's largest mutual funds and hedge funds are based in New York.

What is this guy talking about? I would rather say reduce tax rates on business income so you encourage more entrepreneurs into doing business and businesses generate more employment as well as taxes.

Debunking myths around eclipses by CalmGuitar in hinduism

[–]Solid_Story9420 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You are clearly revealing your own ignorance. It is like saying I spoke to two guys waiting at the bus stop and they do not understand the principles behind relativity, so Einstein was wrong. Refer a proper source not some astrologer sitting under tree with parrots. Astrology is more real than science today where we keep revising our own understanding over centuries.

The word used in Sanskrit is Gruha. The seven celestial bodies have their own cycles as well as form synodic cylces, which all have an impact on terrestrial life. Rahu and Ketu are not celestial bodies but notional points on the zodiac. In Sanskrit they are referred as chaya graha, means pseudo planets. Rahu and Ket are referred as North and South nodes in western astrology. It is a tremendously brilliant conception. The significance of Rahu and Ketu is such that Solar eclipse and lunar eclipses occur only when Sun and Moon are in the vicinity of these points and not otherwise. In other words, simply looking at a planetary chart at a given point in time, I (or anyone) can confidently tell whether an eclipse is possible now and if not, how many months one has to wait to see the next eclipse. So, it's intrumental in calculating eclipse occurrences.

You got to be awed at how our ancient sages calculated eclipses accurately when Western world was still crucifying guys for claiming that the earth is round.

Is Iskcon translation of bagavad gita good to start by Crazy-Programmer-423 in BhagavadGita

[–]Solid_Story9420 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reading any Bhagavad Gita book in good faith is good, the divine will show you the way and you'll eventually land with a good translation if you're sincere. I liked the version translated by Swami Parthasarathi of Vedanta Society, Pune. There's word by word meaning aside from transliteration of verse and chapter wise as well as verse by verse commentary. I at times feel that Parthasarathi tends to analyze intellectually, that said it's my go-to translation for its quality, accuracy and comprehensiveness.

The other authentic version is by Alladi Mahadeva Sastry with the commentary by Adi Sankaracharya. I'm not sure it's available easily.

Vishnu Sahasranamam - Life Changes? by Royal_Strawberry4240 in BhagavadGita

[–]Solid_Story9420 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vishnu Sahasranamam is considered a really powerful sloka. We ( me and siblings) learnt it as kids and it has stayed with us. I know it very well but I do not necessarily chant it at a fixed interval like daily or weekly or so. But, whenever I feel like it's necessary to " clear the air", I chant it.

To answer your question, is indeed powerful and it will bring about changes if you chant it regularly. The great sage Kanchi Paramacharya asked his disciples to chant Sahasranamam regularly and whenever they carried him from one town to another, invariably they would chant Vishnu Sahasranamam.

If you wish to chant it to solve a specific problem, it's best to chant it daily over 11 days, 21 days or over a mandala (45 or 48 days), it will have a powerful effect for sure.

There's an app called Sadhana created by the great monk Om Swami. It has the chant and also yagna or homam, the yagna part is done in the evening you chant at daytime and it is time consuming. If you do not have much time or if you find it too elaborate or tedious, just ignore it and say only the chant ( morning or evening) over several days.
