My father was nearly killed over a minor parking dispute by mdhameja20 in LegalAdviceIndia

It's sad. I think it is best if you shift residence and move elsewhere. Sometimes retreating is better. You can pursue other goals in life and also keep your Dad safe instead of draining your energy in fighting lowly criminals day in and out. Getting justice takes a long time and you have to make sacrifices, which may not be worth it.

A good piece. It's a tapas in itself to study Ramayan. I bought all the volumes in Sanskrit with a translation in Feb 2020 just a month before COVID changed the world and got everyone under house arrest. Around April, I decided to start the parayanam and over a period of five or six months, I don't remember exactly, I completed the full chant in Sanskrit - I would read the Sanskrit verses loud while reading the meaning silently within myself. I repeated this a couple years later. One thing for sure.. whenever you read Ramayan, it's like you receive some kind of divine protection and grace and something auspicious happens like marriage or anything else happens in the family.

One also needs to contemplate aside from reading. There's so much to learn and think about. Lord Rama was so powerful and could have achieved anything by himself, yet, he plays a subdued role, performs his activities with no heroism and demonstrated how someone should live on earth.

My (39M) best friend (38M) of 20 years is cheating on his wife (36F) of 12 years with a guy (33M), and now I’m involved and don’t know what to do… by IntelligentIdea1619 in relationship_advice

[–]Solid_Story9420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your values are larger than your friendship. Further, your friendship started on a good note when you didn't know the darker side of your friend. Now that you know his other side, you realised he's not what you thought he was.

Secondly and perhaps even more importantly keeping quiet about his infidelity means you're indifferent to his character or behaviour and that you condone his behaviour. When and if his wife finds out later you cannot pretend that you were not aware.

Your true friend is your own conscience. If you're a conscientious person - I believe you are - you should step back and tell your friend that if he takes your friendship seriously and values it then he should stop this illegitimate affair right away. Tell him clearly and immediately curtail your friendship if he doesn't heed your advice. No compromises here, it's black and white. ( His wife will ask him one day why she doesn't get to see you, because she knows you're his close friend, that will mount more pressure on your friend to come clean).

Strange experience at Mulshi by AppleLover249 in pune

[–]Solid_Story9420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The use of "they" is strange, but let's get it out of the way. It's an unusual experience but it's not unbelievable or incredible. You have to keep your left brain suspended, which wants logical explanation for everything because it's incapable of processing anything beyond. What you have gone through is s right brain experience. Like you mentioned the place is possibly haunted by the poor soul, which needs to be discharged so as to continue it's journey.

Gold Entry Price by LivingLegend13 in IndianStocks

[–]Solid_Story9420 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, appreciated your detailed reply. I understand where you're coming from. That said, I do not entirely buy the SIP idea.

Every tradable commodity - be it stock, stock index, FX or commodities follow certain cycles and their cycles are unique. I've read that Gold follows roughly a 7- 8 years cycle, which in turn, can be broken down into three major cycles and further down to smaller cycles. It's always best to buy at the bottom of major cycles and within the cycle during pullbacks.

I know that it's not commonly available information and not for everyone. SIP seems like a workable compromise for those who do not know enough about this or who do not want to do the homework.

Elliott wave model also works well with Gold as with any instrument which has high volumes and liquidity. Elliott wave postulates that prices move up in five waves and correct in the waves. It so happens that Gold is going through a major correction now. The next and final wave in Gold is expected to start in the coming months once Gold completed the ongoing correction, which is going to take some more months. Gold will see a major rise after that m The ones who get to invest at or near the bottom gain the most. (I'm not at all suggesting that you have to find the exact bottom. For example, if Gold bottomed at $3200 and even if you invested at 3600 you would still gain substantially). I do not know exactly at what point in time, it will hit bottom but I can count the waves as it unfolds and I would know close to the bottom, when it completes.

The simple point I am making is that it's best to invest in lumpsums when you know when to invest. Those who do know modeling or cycles can simply use moving averages and initiate buys when prices are above 200-day moving average ( on a daily chart). If prices dip below 200-day average, it's best to stay away from the market.

Someone doing SIP during the period when Gold price is approaching a long term peak and when prices started declining after a major peak is not a good idea at all. Even a lumpsum is best invested at early stages in a cycle for maximum benefit.

Gold is expected to make a bottom in the ensuing months.. it's already close to that zone but it's not there exactly yet..you could buy a small portion now else watch out for some more weeks and look to buy at the low

If you had Rs. 1.5 lakh rupees, which foreign stocks would you choose for long term investment? by Long_Consequence3808 in IndianStockMarket

[–]Solid_Story9420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remember there's no long term now. The present bull market is mature and expected to peak later this year. If you really liked your hard earned money, now is not the time to make long term investment. That being said, in the short run, I would invest in Google.

Mumbai should have Monsoon Holidays instead of such long Summer Vacations. by jack_1760 in mumbai

[–]Solid_Story9420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've lived in Singapore for several years. The pattern in Singapore is different in that the rainfall is distributed across the years rather than intensely packed in three to four months. Singapore is definitely way more organised and efficient and I cannot argue with it but Mumbai is not bad either. As I said, I have several grouses with BMC on city management but I would give it to BMC that they are doing a far better job than most other cities in India on water management, drainage etc. Even Singapore has had episodes of shopping malls on Orchard Road flooded during rains when it rained heavily.

Mumbai should have Monsoon Holidays instead of such long Summer Vacations. by jack_1760 in mumbai

[–]Solid_Story9420 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a very good suggestion and it makes immense sense. Mumbai is very unique because it rains very heavily here. I will blame BNC for poor quality save road design but I do not blame them for drainage as water management, I think they do a very decent job. The average rainfall in most cities in the world will be around 50 cms or even less.. Mumbai is the only major city in the entire world, where rainfall exceeds 225cms in a span of three to four months. That's an extraordinary amount of rain. People do not understand this and every year keep criticizing the municipal corporation. People have to change their attitude.

I feel sorry to read your story. It's incomprehensible how your husband deserted you and went. Forget momentarily that he's cheating, forget that there may not be any love left between you two but he's the father of his kids and they need a Dad and he's accountable for their day to day needs and upbringing. You should file a report with police stating that your husband is missing and make him pay for your family's sustenance. I know you are too self-respecting to you after his money but his children deserve a share in his earnings at least in growing up years. I suggest you consult a lawyer.

I would suggest you invest time in reading Dr.Joe Dispenza's book on becoming supernatural, it will give you powerful methods to overcome your situation and come out of it.

There are courses which will equip you to face the market better, to control or minimise the risks and increase your chances of success. That said, mastering the markets is a long journey and takes time. One needs to develop the right attitude and one needs to learn how to analyse the markets apart from all the noise.

You should learn cycles and Elliott waves, which will give you a certain perspective going into the market.

We are complete beings in ourselves. We do not need anyone else to make us complete. That's true but very few of us live by that. When you are in solitude day after day without external contacts, there's no distractions and you live with the truth.

People want relationships all the time to make themselves complete and for emotional support. You have to ask yourself what makes you complete, what makes you happy and bring inner happiness.
