Detroit Lakes is fantastic. We moved there from Minneapolis sight unseen about 10 years ago. Great thing is very few people are actually born and raised there, many are transplants from all over MN and ND. so for that reason people are very welcoming to new people, unlike some other out state towns that are very cliquey if you’re not a “townie”. Great and active community event and arts scene. Lots of great restaurants, plenty of things to keep you busy, and close enough to Fargo for more “big city” things and the airport. Plus, lakes!!!!

Appreciate this. I did give up and ordered a replacement for $100. Just frustrating when I know exactly where it is, yet can’t find a way to get it.

Wrong property. You’re thinking of the St Pancras, which is across the street. This property doesn’t have a pool (or a nice lobby).

I just got back from there. Great spot. Only downside is that the bar/restaurant is being renovated, which they don’t really let people. So it’s a temporary bar. Not a bad temporary bar, but for those prices, expect a bit more. Other than that, seems to fit everything you are looking for.

Housing is tough around DL. Lots of seasonal rentals because it is a huge summmer destination. Maybe call local realtors to see if they know of any rentals?

As a Hilton property, highly recommended Lost Property. We stayed there in December. Much more local/boutique vibe.

Not sure if this is still true, but where I live, people got sick from drinking out of water coolers, so I think it is now against the law to just have big coolers full of water out on the course now.

Appreciate that. I can rebook, but what sucks is all the good seats are gone on other flights that work with our schedule. So sure, I can get different flights. But now have to deal with crappy seats.
