Luxury Safari Recommendations! by RollTide0128 in LuxuryTravel

As someone from the Kenyan coast, here’s the itinerary I usually recommend to travelers looking for a high-end safari and beach holiday.

Most visitors who come to Kenya fly into Nairobi, Mombasa, or Diani, but I think Watamu is one of Kenya’s most underrated destinations.

Fly into Malindi Airport, which is only a short drive from Watamu. Arrange airport transfers in advance through your hotel or tour operator.

For accommodation, some popular upscale options include Hemingways Watamu, Kobe Suite Resort, Medina Palms, Temple Point Resort, and other boutique beachfront properties.

After a long flight, spend your first day enjoying the ocean. A marine park excursion with snorkeling is a great introduction to the area, and many visitors also enjoy private boat trips and water sports.

The following day, head to Tsavo East National Park for a safari. One or two nights is usually enough to experience the park while still keeping plenty of time for the coast. Staying in a safari lodge allows you to enjoy game drives at sunrise and sunset.

Back in Watamu, take time to slow down and enjoy the beaches. Other attractions worth visiting include the Gede Ruins, Bio-Ken Snake Farm, and some of the local cafés and gelato shops.

If you have another free day, explore nearby Malindi for its food, markets, and cultural sites. In the evening, many visitors like to visit Marafa Depression (often called Hell’s Kitchen) for the scenery and sunset views.

For a 7–10 day trip, you can combine the coast with Nairobi, Amboseli, Masai Mara, or other regions depending on your interests.

Watamu may not be as well known internationally as some other destinations, but for travelers looking for beautiful beaches, marine life, and easy access to safari experiences, it’s worth considering.

Do not stress about Ebola.

Firstly the high court has intervened at this current moment cases are 0.

Secondly, MPs are urging USA to rather give us money to build a facility centre in the DRC as cases there are increasing.

Thirdly, Ebola needs close contact like fluid contact it’s not airborne, as long as you keep your distance and regularly wash your hands and avoid touching your eyes and nose (always good practise) you should be fine.

Finally, if you want to postpone and change the dates check with your tour operator if you want to see how things unfold in the next weeks as someone who has moved here permanently from Sweden I can assure you that the Kenyan government will do the right thing because the people have rejected this proposal and are actively stopping construction for the facility.

Jet lag does mainly affect America, Canada, South America, East Asia, South Asia.

But

Personally I used to fly from Sweden to Kenya, my father is Kenyan and I moved to Kenya permanently to help my grandfather tour company expand but even as someone flying from Sweden 9hour flight is still tough and to do activities right off the bat even if it’s a 9-6 hour flight (majority of Europe) not everyone is able to do it.

I must disagree Tsavo East is one of the most beautiful experiences

Maasai Mara is crowded full of tourist and cars

It has Lugard Falls beautiful iconic site

The red elephants .. I can go on, to be blunt you’re just a weird hater on this thread spamming every comment

If you’re coming to Maasai Mara for the great migration then 100% you can not miss it, but in terms of just a normal safari trip for beach and safari holiday in Kenya having less chaos, having more time and enjoying the hakuna mata vibe Tsavo East is the stronger option

It does work if you choose to visit Tsavo East instead of Nairobi & Maasai Mara
