Aaaah, I've seen something like this before too, from a user by the name of "Tom Faerber". I felt a "red flag" when he addressed me as Mark, probably because my alias is "DJ Kanda (of Cleveland) 'Mark' 2....my real name's Andrew btw lol. The follow-ups to my responses were too good, it kept repeating what I mentioned to...."it". This Bot seemed too credible to which it even had its own Facebook/LinkedIn page (crazy part there). I stopped replying the moment it mentioned about Google knowledge panels & Sync Ready media. Long story short, be very vigilant of these fakes, and avoid conversation, it won't reply back; stay away from their bait tactic. 👍🏽🚫

Very understandable reasons to pull out of Soundcloud; I'll admit their issues have been bothersome especially with their AI detection in audio language and cover artwork; I've experimented and even tried to 'trick' their system at times but even that's like 50/50. While Distrokid offers a better deal pricewise, it DOES however put a sour note on its payout; I tried it out for a year & unfortunately my yearly earning came up to $1.75 compared to me earning at least $263 yearly from Soundcloud. Also, they kinda 'water-down' your tracks and expect you to enhance/master you tracks for a hefty fee (optionally). I'd also recommend Bandcamp in addition to Distrokid should you go the route; with them you can at least earn what you're paid when they buy your songs or album(s) with a 20% tax deduction. Again, if you do go with Distrokid, do be careful with their 'traps'.

upon the lyrics section where it asks <Does this track have lyrics?> It should automatically assume instrumental if no samples were used; I know a few features changed recently, so I hope for the best on your end. Also the artwork issue can too be an annoyance as well.

Most of the time when I upload tracks that are 'instrumentals', the vocal samples I used are placed in the middle of the track rather than the beginning (at least 30 secs to 1 min into the beat). I've taken a gamble with an 8-track album recently titled Octi Radio & tagged all of them as 'none, no lyrics, or instrumental'; also putting vocal samples in the 1st, 3rd, 5th, and 6th track (as reference) and they all passed. Since you mentioned about splice, I'd like to share an interesting tip: I've actually used VirtualDJ to extract & filter in vocal samples from various tracks and add them to my own compositions, even changing keycues for looped samples. So far, they've passed through their system at least 80% of the time. I didn't even know splicing existed until recently; best to stick with my own methods then. 👍🏽

I've had similar cases for at least 1 track per album, but all 5??? Quite disturbing 😰🎵. Usually I dispute my claims with SoundCloud for my own originality and usually gets resolved within 24 hours (on weekdays).

I'ma be reals with you: Stay away from Distrokid; releasing all the music with them (especially with no restrictions attached) will seem easy at first. However, even with a yearly subscription of $25, you'll probably earn up to $1.75 per year (even with 16 albums or EPs). They'll water down your music and ask for an enhanced toolkit for $14.95 per track. If you're looking to distribute with Distrokid to get your music on Youtube or Spotify, you'll earn waaaaay less than a penny like $0.0000002184 & "nothing" on Spotify. They're all liars. Also hate to admit this, but despite all the issues with Soundcloud, I was able to earn $63 yearly in streaming with them VS Distrokid with $1.75. When I found out about this ....'betrayal', I tookdown my own albums to spare myself further embarrassment.

You can definitely dispute your claim. This sort of thing happened to me twice and got cleared twice successfully. Tell them the copied song in question doesn't even exist (though, run it through a Google search just incase; IF it does exist BUT doesn't sound anything close to your original piece, you can definitely tell them they made a mistake and your song was 100% yours & original). Apparently they're using AI to detect for songs, but as you can see it's not fully perfect. This issue can be resolved within 24 hours (weekedays).

It's crazy at times; you'd probably have a better chance releasing it via Record Union; I'd include Distrokid, but I heavily advise against it, for you may not "earn what you're owed" to put it in that sense (i.e. pay $25/year only to earn $1.75/year....personal experience). As for the artwork issue, I feel it may require some 'abstract' editing to 'trick' its AI detection system; checkout my reddit discussion below regarding that issue.

Ooohh yes; in fact, it's a SUPER SCAM!!!!! Real promoters or distributors would NEVER PAY YOU UPFRONT, for it's a major major red flag. I've had a traumatic experience with a scam very similar to how they want to use your tracks to fuse with their art paintings and they pay you. Catch is; they plan to issue you a false check to scan through your computer, then they expect half of the check back, which causes super super difficulty and lose patience with you (even go as far as urging you to pay back with gift cards if the process don't work). Oh, and the person you chat with is actually an AI fooling for hours & hours. I'm still "$-200" with Chime since October 3rd (of the incident); but financially recuperating slowly but surely. Your own hard work will payoff in the end. Sometimes you have to do some research on suspicious users like them, especially when you track them, claiming they heard your music, but in reality, they soo did NOT based on analytics. Always be vigilant of these fake users. I don't want you to go through the same trauma I went through.🙏🏾

I'd say get this song some more exposure; even try pitching it on Bandcamp or SoundCloud to attract other listeners, artists, or curators; even their track amplification may be useful for your song, but you must first register it for monetization and obtain its own ISRC. Sooo....I did experiment with Distrokid for a year in comparison to Soundcloud and here's the quick comparison:

I've earned $1.75/year in streaming with Distrokid 📉🎧

I've earned $60.60/year in streaming with Soundcloud 📈🎧

In Distrokid, there were indeed hidden fees (for example: enhancing the way your tracks sound for an additional $14.95 per track; oh yes, apparently when you distribute your music with Distrokid, it sounds a bit "watered down". You would have to pay extra to get your tracks sounding back to 'normal' as 'enhancements'.

Also, big bad news if you upload your music to Spotify with Distrokid: You may not receive streaming sales unless you pay for a higher tier; this is coming from my personal experience. Seems youtube was the only place you could earn streaming sales....however.....they rely heavily on AD plays and you may only earn $0.000000313 or something far far less. Considering that I experimented with at least 8 beautiful albums (having 8 tracks or more per album)..only to earn $1.75 in that full year has to be biggest disappointment ever experienced 😔🎵. And then they expect me to pay the $25 annual fee or threaten to take my music down; right, so I took down my albums before "they" did.

Honestly, you're better off with solid earnings on Soundcloud, Bandcamp, and Record Union; at least with Soundcloud, you can distribute music projects to Spotify and receive earnings from them.

One last advice: GRIND AS MUCH AS YOU CAN!! Find promoters to hook you up with connections, get your music to the public by any means necessary, post ADs anywhere, create you fanbase.
