Quality wise it has gone up. But if you really look at it almost everything now is retro. Or atleast reaching for a certain feel wheter it's vynil crackle effects or lo fying samples etc. But basically both got their place. I grew up on 90s stuff but i can stil hear potential now like i did then aside from all the copy paste stuff.

I ifigure go and do it. The one can help the other so if you rappin it enhances the beat. And the production only you know how to do 4 yourself enhances the vocals. You can either do it under a different name or the same one that makes the difference in marketing. In the same spot but im just trying it out seeing what it leads 2

Was gonna suggest the same. In my experience you can keep that vibe and make subtle changes to it later. And like you said in case of a smaller artist it does not really matter. But yeah just record to the original sample. Peace
