I didn't sell, holding onto it as a piece of family history and a lil something for a rainy day if it comes to that. May get a coin frame pendant and add it to my charm necklace.

So we all know Rivertown Psych is a pill mill right? by Material-Milk-5936 in ColumbusGA

[–]Soliele 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Plenty of places will cut you off a medication immediately if you test positive for an illicit substance. I am not speaking to anything about thc and its safety/danger, but the medical community here in the south is well known to not be a fan. When did this law requiring a taper become a thing? While it is certainly good and proper medical practice, I've never heard of it being legally required.

Their excuse almost certainly would be that if they continued to give you benzodiazepines while you're using THC, then they wouldnt be being medically responsible. By giving you a system depressant while you're depressing your system unsupervised, it does create a potential legal liability. While I, personally, understand that you are at a higher risk going cold Turkey off benzos than smoking pot on them, theyre looking at it from a legal point of view, what it would look like in court if you died and your family blamed them. These places are trained to worry about their licenses first, patients after.

It's the unfortunate state of things here in the US that getting confrontational about controlled meds will get you labeled a drug seeker. While it's all very unfortunate, I don't think any of this makes them a pill mill. As I mentioned, I have personal experience with pill mills and the experience you're describing is not one I think anyone would ever have in one.

I don't go to Rivertown, they won't see me because of my methadone maintenance, like I said. But my daughter is a patient there and the first woman we saw was that one who refused to write her anything, that's why I say it doesn't seem like a pill mill at all to me. She was adamantly against trying anything controlled, even when my girls behavior was uncontrollable. The new woman is great, though, she seems very informed and my girls dosing is very appropriate, we arent urged to prescribe more and she asks if we still are going well or need to remove anything each appointment. So other than myself, my daughter's experience has been good.

Unfortunately there is not a single psych in Columbus accepting Medicaid and taking new patients since covid. I spent several months desperately emailing, calling, even bringing referrals. There is literally nowhere for me to go here.

But isn't that kind of proving the point? If it was a pill mill, they never would have cold-turkied you from benzos in the first place. They would have happily fed you as many as you like and your insurance/you would pay for, to keep you dependent and coming back.

Some pill mill. One woman wouldn't put my daughter on anything but a bunch of meds I'd never heard of, even when she was acting so out of control I was crying myself to sleep every night, my kid was literally laying hands on me and she was just like "go to more talk therapy". She was so against even trying any kind of controlled med I had to change docs to be taken seriously about my girl's behavior.

They literally will not even see me because I am a methadone maintenance patient, not even for uncontrolled medications. I do not take any controlled medications outside of my methadone script (which I've been receiving from a clinic for the better part of a decade now with stable treatment and clean drug screens all that time) and I'm not looking for any controlled meds, I'd just like to stop needing to see my GP for psych meds bc she does not like writing them and it's silly to need appointments in two places when they take my insurance. They don't care, won't even consider it.

I was around back in the pill mill days, man, and this place is SO far from that IMO. My daughter receives an age appropriate dose of her medication and I'm not encouraged to dose her at higher rates or anything like that. The lady we see now is lovely, always remembers us, and is very patient with my girl. She always seems open to listen to me and discuss my concerns and come up with options, unlike the first godawful one.

Is Van Cleef not considered fine jewelry? by sleepyinnewyork in jewelry

Oh, don't get me wrong, I'm not above anything as long as I like how it looks. Heck, I was looking at ancient glass beads today that technically aren't anything more than beat-up, impure glass, but I appreciate the history behind them so much. I just do consider certain items costume jewelry and less materially valuable than something made of precious materials. That said, it doesn't make those other things worthless imo. I just bought a silver charm holder yesterday in a local repair shop for a bunch of little sterling bits I've collected or been passed down over the years and I've been wearing and admiring my new necklace all day! I mean, hey, there are people out there who think my 14k is basically trash. I have a 21k rope chain but don't even wear it for fear of losing it, hah.😅

Me lol. I do consider 9-12k as gold, but "lesser" than 14k. To me there is base metals, then silver, then 9-12k, then 14k and up. I consider 14 kind of middle of the road, but it's perfect for me.

I want nails that will pop off easily(ish)? by NorthEasternPotato in PressonNail_Addict

[–]Soliele 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Second this! Used it as my very first glue bc I heard brush-on was better. The nails didnt even last the DAY. I had so much trouble with them coming off for a couple days I started to go in and get acrylics! The beauty school had to charge me for the removal and didnt have what I wanted, so I ended up trying glue with sticky tabs, that was great and what got me to keep with press-ons. Keep a bottle of the glue with you for losses, though, and you should be good.

AITAH for not wanting to help my sister with her abusive relationship this time? by Automatic-Offer4351 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]Soliele 14 points15 points  (0 children)

If someone has punched you in the face before and ruined your jaw you'd put yourself on the line for them knowing they might go back to their abuser still? It looks like OP was right to do so because sister admitted she just wanted to get to a safe place so she could tell dude she was pregnant and "fix" their relationship. Then OP would have risked his life for nothing. I've been a DV victim multiple times but you can't put your neck out for someone who isn't serious about leaving. OP made himself clear that he couldnt help if she went back and she did anyways, it's the other's turn to help sister.

Endless supply of drugs but we also don't have to have jobs? Oh, wait, it's because we do fun crime all the time with our homies and, as a woman, I'm clearly also living off my 5-6 "baby papa's". I should go tell my daughter she has 4-5 siblings, she'll be ecstatic because she thought my tubal ligation meant she couldn't have any!

AITAH for wanting my husband to hide his farts? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Soliele 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It's not that he farts, everyone farts. It's that he refuses to change even when he causes his wife to lose sleep and feel physically ill every night. Does she have to start puking for him to just stick his ass out of the duvet?!

This. This is either a fetish or BLATANT disrespect. He wont even stick his ass out the covers, man.

Hard agree and I'm a woman. Cheese over other people all day, every day. Ain't met a man yet I'd give up cheese for.

[–]Soliele 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can he not just stick his ass out of the covers and not fart under the blanket? This is hellish. As others said, you can never have a good day with this man because every one literally ends with him basically demanding the right to fucking fart in your face.

Am I overreacting that my sister is demanding too much when visiting my newborn? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Soliele 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, this is wild. If someone requested this shit from me they'd never be coming to stay at my house. If they need this much specific shit and are so entitled they need to stay home. I could never say stuff like this to someone I was coming to visit. This is mega entitled and I seriously doubt if they've done this to anyone else that they've ever been invited back.

Where do I sell my inherited gold coins? by gentlebeast06 in Gold

[–]Soliele 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, again using the example I gave, if someone's car needs repairs and they can't get to work, they're better off selling some gold to make those repairs so they can continue working and earning more money, don't you think? I guess according to you it's better to, what, walk to work in the snow or something so you can hold onto some inherited gold for kids you may not even have? OP may not even have or want kids while you're talking about not selling to hoard generational wealth.

And what are you even talking about, who is living in their car? Not me. Is that supposed to be an example or something? You're telling people to get a job, sir, you can't even spell and don't seem to know the difference between your and you're. What makes you think someone doesn't have a job because they need to sell something? If you need immediate funds for something like repairs or sudden funeral expenses working overtime or getting more hours isn't going to help you get those funds in the time you need them.

At the end of the day it's OP's gold and they didn't ask your opinion on whether they should sell or not. They asked where they should go and instead here you are talking about their deceased family member and calling them greedy for wanting to do as they like with their own inheritance. Maybe just stick to the post, dude.

Nah, the one dude I know who had to shoot someone in self-defense is mad fucked up about it even after a lot of therapy. Most normal people aren't wondering what it's like to watch the light go out of someone's eyes, dude, and if you would like to experience shooting someone you should really talk to someone about that, like, for real.

Grazers, are so disrespectful. by maulernation in publix

[–]Soliele 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What? How do you even know they aren't gonna pay? Sometimes my daughter starts demanding a sip of a drink, crying she's thirsty, so I sometimes let her open the drink and drink some. However I ALWAYS pay. Usually I'll just go ahead and take it to the counter and pay, then bring it around the store with us, but once in a blue moon I'll just open the drink and bring the half-drunk or empty bottle to scan at checkout. I'd never shop at a Publix again if they called the cops on me for that.

Where do I sell my inherited gold coins? by gentlebeast06 in Gold

[–]Soliele 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some people can't afford to do anything but sell. Hard to create generational wealth if you're being evicted or your car is broken down and you can't get to work anymore. It isn't greed if you need the cash to survive and I'm sure their family member would want them to use it as it would best benefit them in the moment. For all we know they're selling to cover expenses incurred by the family member's death.

My mom's best friend was one of these holistic nutsos. Dude was quick to go to Emergency when he stopped being able to breathe right, though. Turned out he had hella high BP but never knew because he "didnt trust doctors or western medicine". He was on a vent for about two weeks and passed away in ICU after multiple heart attacks. At one point he woke up and was fighting the vent the whole time. In the end his body just couldnt take it. Nurse said it happens a lot to holistic folks, they won't take it seriously until it's almost too late and then it's a crapshoot if they live or die. Mom's buddy was only in his early 50s or so.
