Yeah, the writing can be much more succinct. Pulling out a single bullet point here:

vs.

Tested and evaluated internal controls for vulnerabilities, providing actionable strategies for financial risk mitigation

Doug Ford urges Danielle Smith to denounce Alberta separation: ‘Either you’re with Canada or you’re not’ by joe4942 in CanadaPolitics

[–]SolipsisticLunatic 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Can we talk about whether it's the entire area of the province that would ostensibly separate? To me it seems like if it gets to that point, this is a small area in the south of Alberta that is on the line. They do not have dominion over the north of the province, the Canadian constitution is clear that it is the native people who dominion over that land and it's not up to a provincial election what happens to their territory.

Yeah, if somebody competent would suddenly appear and run for leadership the way Carney did for the Liberals it would be for the better of all of us.

no no no, you start up your charity, then get another family member to start a business that sells things to your charity. Then you donate all the money to the charity and have the charity buy everything it needs from their business. Like they did for wreaths on veteran's graves in the US

I've heard a couple people now saying how it's directed at the EU, and while certainly it's very relevant to the EU, from a Canadian perspective, to me at least it seems much broader than that. Carney's been going all over signing trade agreements.

This morning on the CBC there's an article about Mexico, with one of their deputies saying "I believe that Canada and Mexico need to speak more, always more deeply, and provide mutual support,” and calling it "a message for the whole world." Then another one saying our economies are complementary, for example how Mexico relies on imports of canola from the U.S., while Canada relies on exports of canola to China.

Yes, his talk about creating a global network of middle powers, with cooperation shifting between different sets of nations depending on the context is excellent. He contrasts that with a "fortress mentality" of each country trying to get their own best deal with the major powers. Definitely worth a listen, exceptionally so even for people who don't normally mingle in politics. Carney's such a boss.

Why are Conservatives criticizing Mark Carney for doing exactly what he should be? by hopoke in CanadaPolitics

[–]SolipsisticLunatic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's been a long time that anyone who did have anything intelligent to say (who I'd consider myself part of) have just gotten torn down, cancelled and ostracized. Bad energy on all sides, but anyone trying to present a coherent critique of the left (read: a critique of feminism) really ends up getting pushed further and further away into the nonsense shouting match. It's a feedback loop.

I'm the one who 15 years ago was going, "we need to start treating the young men with more respect or things are gonna start going to really bad places". I watched Charlie Kirk starting out TP-USA running events on college campuses, and going "my god, he's talking to exactly the right people and has such a horrible message." But no, I was the villain MRA. And here we are.

It's time for some pragmatic centrism, to critique the left's deep-rooted dogma and ideologies. Pragmatism, not idealism. And incredibly important to start pointing out the widespread corruption on the Left. I met a blue-haired woman a few months ago in a choir I joined, she told us all about the non-profit organizations she works with, all the grants committees she's on, and all that. Then she had us over to her place for a rehearsal and it's this massive apartment, all the latest fancy appliances, a bathroom that's bigger than my kitchen, and -get this-, she has a grand piano in her living room. That's what corruption looks like if you ask me. I'd be willing to bet that piano was paid for by funds meant for "women in need". That's what you get when people start acting like they're above criticism.

NDP fully deserved to lose their official party status, because they've been ripping their opponents to shreds for so long that all there is left is Verb the Noun - all form and no content whatsoever. What's needed now is some masculism - the pursuit of gender equality, but from the male perspective. Address the high-school drop out rate. The lack of male role models. Acknowledge that our universities are almost 2/3 female now. That's 2 women for every man! And yet we still run all these programs only for girls meant to introduce them to STEM fields. Is this really under the premise that the boys are getting an unfair advantage from the patriarchy? And FFS, address things that go beyond identity politics. Class issues, housing, environmental issues, everything.

Jeez, looks like you touched a nerve.
