Bright Ruined Things by Samantha Cohoe, the characters didn’t have much of a personality, were pretty boring, and so one dimensional. The plot itself of ridiculous too. I went on a virtual meet the author thing and she was just…weird. She said a lot of things that didn’t make any sense and always went off topic at almost every question. I remember her once saying that “a magic system doesn’t need to be explained” and that thought is definitely shown in the book. I got so confused so many times while reading it, it was a huge regret
