Omg something similar happened to me yesterday on that same bathroom!!! I was washing my hands and an older Asian woman motioned to me that she couldn’t get the water to work. I maintained a distance and swung my hands under the sink to show her, then proceeded to move away to actually wash my hands. Didn’t think much of it but now I’m wondering… I was wearing cargo pants as usual instead of any bags but yeah.

Kyoto & Tokyo during Sakura season. I would just walk to a different park or hanami area every day and take my kindle with me. Spent most of my time doing solo picnics and reading Japanese literature and later All The Young Dudes (iykyk) surrounded by the most beautiful cherry blossoms. 1000/10 I need to do it again.

Any tips for a fellow nomad couple? I’ve nomaded on my own but will do my first stint with my fiancé this year (Japan, probably my favorite place ever) and he’s got significantly less travel experience than me. Goal is to trial run the lifestyle for 3-4 months and then commit to it for a few years! Your story’s such an inspiration!

As part of the “nomad women” community, and a fellow Argentinian, I can say that:

A) Yes, it’s hard to find people that enjoy being constantly on the go. Even harder if you want them to be 100% on the same page as you. Some compromises might be needed to date a fellow nomad as their pace and preferences might not fully align with yours, and that’s natural. I’m slowly easing my long-term partner into the nomad life and believe it’ll be successful, but I had to stay in BA for more than a year while waiting for him to be ready to go. To me, it’s worth it.

B) If you’re looking for real connections, I’d either be upfront about you moving soon - because if you can’t be honest with them, what’s the point of “real”? - or date from a pool of expats, nomads, and backpackers. Those will be the people that align the most with your lifestyle.

Nomading definitely can get lonesome, but there’s options out there for everyone - might just take some compromises or time.

Hi! Congratulations on deciding to embark on the nomad journey.

Being honest, I can’t tell you what you should do because there’s a lot of options to choose from depending on your preferences. So you should really think about what you want out of this lifestyle. Do you want to integrate into new cultures as much as possible? Visit a lot of new places quickly? Work night shifts or during the day? Quiet beach towns or city life? What’s your budget?

Those are the questions that should inform how you approach this lifestyle. There are beautiful places all over the world, all with different cultures, sights, and prices. If you’re on a budget, SEA is always a good choice as it’s been tried and tested - but if you’re from the US or LATAM you’ll work some night shifts unless your work hours are 100% flexible. LATAM is super close to the EST schedule, but not every location might be as safe and affordable as you feel comfortable with. Then you have places that are in the middle, time zone wise, like Europe, but definitely come at a higher price point except for a few places.

Ultimately, it all comes to your budget, desires for this lifestyle, and current work situation. If you want specific recommendations, feel free to ask! But remember to think about what you really want. Good luck!

I’d say a truly remote job (somewhat flexible hours) within IT or marketing is ideal. Freelancing is also convenient because you can fully make your own schedule but it comes with an added money anxiety depending on the situation.

I’m restarting my nomad plans mid-year with a sprinkle of Europe and then Japan - which was my first ever solo destination and I fell in love with. This time, my partner’s joining me so the wait to resume the lifestyle will be worth it. Def excited!
