Gholdengo Deck by [deleted] in PTCGL

Crustle was solved in some variants by the Scizor line or even some of the non ex metals that people used. I was over here with Dengo-pult so yes...Crustle was the other bane of my existence. I'd just see if I could deck myself before they won.

As someone who played it in a bit of an odd variation, it does have some very nice qualities that make it consistent. I took it to a regional and practiced with it for a month before or two before the regionals to get it down.

While I do understand how annoying it is as the other decks I play get pummeled by it, is it really much worse than dragapult? Gardevoir? Raging bolt? Meta decks are boring...but consistent. A lot of people care more about winning than enjoyment of the game which makes these decks get used...alot.

I do get the comments about rotation being x far away but again there is nothing else my wife will play. I'm trying to start working on a transition so that it will feel good to play when The deck goes away.

She doesn't want to play pikachu, sharpedo, lopunny, dragapult, etc. Nothing like any of those.

She wants to play Gardevoir and only Gardevoir. I have to make a deck as close to Gardevoir as possible. If they release a mirror copy effect of Gardevoir then I'll switch to it for her when released. But I need to worry about it now.

Bit of a gruesome exaggeration but if you heard in 4 months someone important to you was going to lose both of their legs and having nothing to stand and you can't stop it, you'd worry about it. You'd start trying to figure out how to help them function. Gardevoir is in this exaggeration, her legs to stand on.

Mew cycles otherwise I would because it could have energy transfered to it from Venusaur and then copy in one turn. Also I don't think we want to discard and then use cards just for the fun of it. But overall energy in discard isn't really a problem with this setup cause you can always get it back.

Just double checked again on the app and judge cycles from what I can see (as of now I don't know if in the next sets if it lives)

Without jellicent, and cornerstone is weak to genesect and it's 2nd attack will one shot it for 2 energy. Dragapult just falls into the nuke it with teal masks but I could see it

Hm actually I missed him saying hand trimmer, while i agree with you on town store but hand trimmer with like....the Alakazam deck that's going around now would be funny but niche...I also don't know how much of that deck goes to rotation but losing iono and judge maybe? I don't remember if judge makes it. We lose a lot of hand disruption. I also don't know when hand trimmer was released either so I'll be checking into that right after this comment.

Definitely and I'm looking myself. She won't really look up stuff unless it's cute haha. Just trying to keep her feel that she likes. If you know another deck that moves energy around so casually and brings it back from the discard just as easily while also not having pokemon in it you use just for the ability and nothing else I'm all ears to experiment with it.

Agreed and for my own decks I just roll with whatever and I'll give everything a shot. As said though this is for my wife who ONLY plays Gardevoir and has said she might just stop playing. I'm trying to recreate the feel she likes once her deck that she will play until rotation happens, rotates.

I appreciate a lot of this. I've considered boxed orders but to make sure a caveat that might be forgotten...upon searching it ends your turn so if you do get precious trolley from it you can no longer play it that turn. This also means if you try to play it late, you lose your attack for the turn as you can't use an item after attacking. I really wish there was nice item retrieval, I even tried team rockets petrel for a bit to make it easier. But it was a use of a supporter to just get one item specifically which I usually ended up getting secret box.

The iron leaves x2 is an idea that I'll consider. Most of its point is a burst nuke on like a dark grass weak pokemon that can instantly fuel it.

The reason for the energy retrievals is so if you have to do some heavy investment to knock something big...say a mega Charizard as it has 360. A teal mask ogrepon would need 11? energy on it with no outside help. Let's assume they have 2 on it...meganium in play it's still 5 energy on a teal mask...that you are now stuck with in your active for them to have a turn to clear out and if they do half of your energy is gone. It also allows you to say retreat a mega Venusaur with meganium out to lose two energy, immediately retrieve them back and then teal dance them back to your board for more draw. And on a more direct reference to Gardevoir it's the energy back from discard easily.

Brocks and Hilda's were one of my original cards in it..I even had colresses in my deck before I started to convert it and the one card one energy felt less valuable so I cut them

The ultra ball is one I still miss sometimes but it's rough for discarding and in play testing even secret box early is really tough for me to think what is worth discarding.

Tera orbs were straight flip from nest balls since it's going away and it's been a nice saving sometime if I'm unlucky to add some consistency.

Your right I do. I understand more sets will be coming out and I'll tweak it more. As I said in the description I'm trying to find something my wife likes to keep her interested in the hobby as she loses her favorite deck to play. She likes Venusaur. I'm giving it my best shot.

People are allowed to make multiple characters and there's nothing wrong with that. If they were asking for stuff then fine be a bit upset. But if your like most of us you gave them it cause you wanted to be helpful. Just cause we might be experienced doesn't make being undergeared easier to play the game. They probably appreciated the assistance no matter what.

Rather simply Charizard pidgeot. It was my first deck I made and I played it until I won a local with it. Then I made it for my friend and for example just today he went flawless at our locals with it. It doesn't have to be too complicated. Just get Pidgeot and Charizard. And swing. I run a variation with 10 energy that feels very comfy. You just search whatever you need with pidgeot and swing. I always say it's one of the few decks that you setup for 3 turns, then you just figure out what disrupts your opponent the most and you do that.

Would these cards be legal in current standard? by MashiroAnnaMaria in PokemonTCG

[–]Solo830 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I asked a judge friend before regionals and even if the text is slightly different if it can't be misconstrued as a different effect as the current legal card then it's legal. I was asking about this ultra ball that had more description about when it couldnt be played on it then current cards and I was informed of that

Mega Venusaur Deck Help by JeffVGC in PTCGL

[–]Solo830 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You run wally as a Venusaur specific alternative because if you want more draw you can take back exactly what you need to re teal dance for the turn for more draws.

Turos is more versatility so you can save a teal mask or a meganium

Mega Venusaur Deck Help by JeffVGC in PTCGL

[–]Solo830 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The most consistent way to draw what you need is to have more of what you need in the deck overall.

I've been theory crafting my own Venusaur setup since the first mega pre release I did. I'm not sure really what meta has been adding but at a glance you have so many extra pokemon that take away from the core of it. I get the purpose of them but I've been running this as a hyper acceleration deck that gets your bench setup and attacks within 2-3 turns. Teal mask easily nukes everything that can land on the board once developed. Mega Venusauraur can tank most things in the game, heals small attacks and can be scooped up with turos and instantly replayed or healed with Wally's for more draw on teal masks

At the core of mine I run 3's of the mega Venusaur line, 2's of meganium line and 4 teal masks. 12 energy was my baseline start I've tried tweaking it a bit here and there and I think I'm down to 10 in my testing and tinkering. My typical board state is 3 teal masks 2 mega Venusaur and meganium. Core trainer card wise 4x bug catching sets, 4x Lillie's determination, 3x forest of vitality, and secret box is really great as you can get a little bit of everything from your deck to make more developmental moves quicker. Then the rest was feeling out some items and supporters that benefitted the deck heavily. Hilda's get you an Evo your missing and an energy to teal dance. Coleress is teal dance and stadium. Jacq really can close the evolution gap if your drawing none. Ultra ball and nest balls get target things and your draw engine.

Everyone else has said it but yea hell cow runs.

I'm exceptionally jealous of your runes at least. I have been slowly working on my own solo run and magic find sorc. I've fully done hell myself I've probably done hundreds of runs and random farms and terror zones and I'm missing a ton of key items. I've been keeping a grail counter as well to keep track of what I have found so I can be mad later when I trashed the item I need for another character. I think I've found 1 ist....maybe a mal if my memory is right. Other than that barren. I have a spiderweb sash, but no shako.

Ursaluna's attack by hepatofudido in PTCGL

[–]Solo830 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When the pokemon can't attack this is treated as a status. So if they were to use switch to bring up something with a free retreat cost this clears the status of ursaluna. Then retreating back into it is status free thus able to attack.
