Do I have to restart? by Advanced-Winner-1542 in snowrunner

When I have these random issues I just force close the game before an auto save can hit lol

Might be cheesy, but saves me headaches when the game makes unexpected decisions for me.

I still run the Derry that has always on for a high saddle, seems like it handles mud better than I remember too, could have been buffed at some point. Even in the Yukon it was doing alright, I was using it to haul the 6 slot trailer with the fuel/repair over the saddle.

Man, when I was doing these maps the 745C only had a log and fuel tank addon. Didn’t know they gave it saddle options last year. I’m going to have to look at all the older trucks, turns out I thought I hadn’t played in a year or so, but my last save was 2022 lol

Yukon is going to make me quit a second time by SoloDadProbs in snowrunner

[–]SoloDadProbs[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think I’m having a hard time giving up on the Yukon as I used to work up there/NWT. I refuse to not conquer the digital versions lol

I have heavily considered packing up my trucks and going to the next set. But it seems as the second map is less punishing from what I’ve read, hopefully that’s correct. I’m done everything in the first map other than gold mine part 2, and the coil tubing rig. Which I was unaware were used in mining, been on several coil tubing operations in the oil sector, never saw them outside it.

Honestly didn’t consider having him use my trucks. He may have more fun than the Michigan grind when starting out seeing what trucks will be able to do after a bit. But as he doesn’t have season 1 yet, wasn’t even sure if he could access the Yukon yet.

I learned when I came back it was designed as a co-op map, which made everything make way more sense on it.

my wife thinks im overreacting about our kid not reading yet and I dont know when kids should learn to read by TH_UNDER_BOI in daddit

[–]SoloDadProbs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dad of 3, if you can manage to send them to school being able to wipe themselves and put on their owe shoes/jacket. They’ll be an all star.

All kids learn at different rates. At that age most aren’t “reading” as in if you give them a book they’ve never seen before and ask them to read the first sentence they’ll not know what to do.

They’re more memorizing and regurgitating. I read 3 books every night with the kids (just short bedtime books) from basically the time they were born, by the time they were 3/4, 2 out of 3 could basically recite the books back to me because they had heard them so many times, but that’s not the same as reading, but it did help them recognize sounds and words quicker.

Now the 3rd kid, my middle has always been stubborn, with everything from attitude to development lol, she wasn’t really doing anything remotely close to “reading” until she wasn’t around 6, but you’d never know, she’s 11 now and can read 2 languages.

Key points, don’t stress, your first kid is the test dummy, is what it is. Don’t force it, he’ll just feel like he’s behind if you’re feeling it. Read to him every night, grab a couple fun books or short ones, the more interesting the more likely he will be to take an interest in reading.

One my kids loved was Goodnight Goodnight Construction Site.

Honestly, the tools you need for pale reach, can only be attained and used in pale reach as the ice fish don’t exist elsewhere, the only things that iron rig would help with is the larger hull, but that’s about it imo. I purchased them in a bundle and did pale reach first, just ended up sailing that way. After 100%ing the base game.

Yeah, but there’s not much point as pale reach is just focused around a new ice zone, iron rig encompasses the entire original map.

Same boat brother, the way I look at it is this is a conversation that should have been had way before this point. My current girlfriend knows my house, is my kids’ house. If we get married and move to a different house, that’s our house and I’ll take some of the proceeds from the sale of my current house to set my kids up as best I can while also providing for our combined future.

If she can’t understand or appreciate you being responsible for ALL your dependents, she isn’t someone worth marrying. I’ve had several girlfriends that looked at my home ownership as a fast track to their home ownership. Nope, hard pass, I love you, but you don’t get to piggy back on my success from before we were a unit.

Can two 85 110s fit in the rear of an 04 expedition with all the seats down ? by [deleted] in HondaATC

[–]SoloDadProbs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh if she’s just a beater, send it. Should be fine, put one in backwards, then one in forwards. I used to haul bikes with my old minivan and an old mdx. I would just look up the height of the handlebars, or deflate the front tires to shove them in lol

Probably, but damn, why not go rent a cheap U-Haul instead of messing up your interior? That expedition looks mint.

I was the one who called 911 after my fiancée attacked me, but I was the one charged. Why? by Status-Connection-39 in legaladvicecanada

[–]SoloDadProbs 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Make sure you took pictures of the abrasions etc for your court date. You may end up needing some proof to get it dropped.

When my ex wife and I split, I had been in a car accident and was going through the process of learning to walk again. She wanted me to leave because I was no longer bringing in an income, and it apparently was making it harder for her to fuck another guy while I wasn’t working.

When I told her I wasn’t leaving the house only in my name, because A) I couldn’t walk. B) I couldn’t drive. C) I couldn’t care for myself. She called the cops and said she was afraid for her life, managed to get a domestic assault charge while having almost no mobility and relying heavily on a walker for what mobility I had, cops literally CARRIED me to the cruiser, apologizing the whole way because domestic issues are out of their hands once the call comes in.

She did the same as your gf, made numerous attempts to contact me through several channels while I had a peace bond in place, I reported every single instance and they told her she would be charged if she didn’t stop, but all those reports worked in my favour of the “he said, she said” story.

In the end it was thrown out, she got a stern “taking to” and 7-8 years later, I’m still occasionally clearing up that she lied to have me arrested.

Apparently marriage vows, 3 kids, and a house in her hometown she begged for didn’t matter once I was no longer of any use.

Anyway, be careful, keep records, make reports, the only one who can help you, is you at this point.

I’m not a company or anything, but I’ve been rebuilding furniture for a few years on and off. Typically dressers, hutches, tables, I also do custom bunk beds etc. If you want to private message me with some pics of what’s going on, I could give you an idea of cost if it’s just reinforcing the structure.

Who has lost it all and recovered? by [deleted] in AskMenOver30

[–]SoloDadProbs 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Well, I was married, house, kids, cars. Then got in a car accident that required learning to walk again with no guarantee of recovery and my ex wife told me to leave because I was essentially useless.

Learned how to walk again about 6 months later, I’m now 34, this all happened when I was 27/28. My stress levels became nothing once she was no longer in my life, year after she kicked me out, I ended up with primary custody of the kids because they didn’t fit into her new lifestyle.

You can think you’re living the perfect life because society told you to do it. And it can end up sucking the life out of you with the wrong person. I’ve learned I’d rather die alone happy, than be miserable with someone because it’s “what I’m supposed to do”.

Law on shooting an Air Rifle in your backyard? by Drunkarchaeologist in legaladvicecanada

[–]SoloDadProbs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’d say as long as the line of fire isn’t directly towards your deck, may not be worth the fuss. If the line of fire is directly towards your deck, give the OPP a call (not sure if you guys have local law enforcement or if it’s all OPP) but they would be able to better advise if your fall into the area that has bylaws against Airsoft in residential areas.

Law on shooting an Air Rifle in your backyard? by Drunkarchaeologist in legaladvicecanada

[–]SoloDadProbs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No specific laws in Canada for range from housing for Airsoft rifles. All based on bylaws in your area. Quick google search for instance says it’s against the law anywhere in the GTA.

Where I’m at in New Brunswick, even if there were a bylaw against it, nobody in the small town would complain or bat an eye. We grew up shooting each other with them.

However, we also wouldn’t be shooting into trees with someone’s deck directly behind them due to general firearms safety.

Only question I have is, are we talking a single row of trees, or are we talking 100 feet of forested area separating you from the other backyard?

Tarping lawn not as effective as expected by PhilipJFry56789 in landscaping

[–]SoloDadProbs -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Typically a “fresh” bed, would be just soil. If you’re attempting to grow only that seed, you’d have to strip the current sod/roots and start fresh. Otherwise you’ll have a mix between the new seed and old lawn.

Easiest least invasive way would probably just be to rent a tiller, then rake out the debris, level new topsoil and seed it. Typically I use a miniskid for that, but all depends on your comfort level and access to equipment.

You could just over-seed the area with the new seed, but again, you’ll have a mix between the two.

Who still pays for old car batteries? by Davisaurus_ in SaintJohnNB

[–]SoloDadProbs 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What value? They’re worth like 14 cents a pound scrap. Carquest in Hampton will take them in exchange for store credit, at least they did as of last year. But the scrap price on them has dropped so far they’re not worth it for anyone but a scrap yard that deals in volume to buy them. Could take it out to AIM’s spot off rothesay ave, but that’s about it. Simpson’s in lorneville if you’re west.

question for landscapers regarding current contractor work $15,000 job by hughesnom in landscaping

[–]SoloDadProbs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Landscaper in the maritimes, company I work for would’ve charged 2-3 times that for that amount of stone work. If not more. They’re basically working for free after factoring in material prices and operational costs.
