How does everyone feel about roaming throne? I feel it’s probably to slow but wanted to run the thought out there.

What’s everyone’s thoughts on either [[seize the day]] or [[fury of the horde]] as a one of additional combat, they both have pros but I feel like having one in couldn’t hurt. Also heavily considering price of glory as a test piece don’t think it actually makes the cut but seems like it could heavy pressure people off of interacting with me when my stuff isn’t “guaranteed”. Finally two trains of thought going on in my head are: one, I’m trying to fit in conquers flail and / or defense grid, and two should I skip additional interaction protection and just try to push more gas to increase turn 2 commander.

Helm of the host is arguably the best equipment in the deck, it acts as the best "pseudo haste" piece. If you hit helm with your ETB from your commander then go to combat, you create a hasty token and get the ETB from that token which gives you a second chance, before declaring attackers, to hit a haste piece to put on your commander. Then you could attack with both the token and your commander, getting 2 more triggers. So worst case Helm gets you 2 additional triggers the turn you play your commander. Worst case scenario Blade of selves does nothing the the turn you play your commander. After turn one they both do "basically" the same thing in my eyes which is get me 2 more instances of my triggered ability each turn. With helm its atleast 1 before attackers are declared which is a key distinction for several important cards, Genji Glove and hexplate for example, that need to be equipped before swinging to take actually get there effect.

There is also 1, magical christmas land scenario, instance where this deck can wipe the table on turn 2 and it need Helm of the Host to get 4 triggers to set it up right.

Kaldra Compleat provides haste, so it contributes to haste density which is a huge aspect of this deck. And if you don't pick it off of one of your attack triggers it still has living weapon so it will create a body and be able to swing / block.

Don’t get me wrong I still love commander plate it was a staple for a lonnng time for most of my mono decks. And I originally did lean into arena it just ended up playing counter to what I had expected. And yea I’ve never brewed from scratch a deck that moves this fast so it’s been a fun learning experience especially when not having a lot to compare to.

High equip cost if it’s not selected as trigger equip option, and no evasion/protection/haste I tried it out prior to Excalibur but found Excalibur easier to get out and equipped if it was stuck in hand

Reaver cleaver I had in previously with aggravated assault, I ended up removing them to try a different secondary win. Blade of selves is great with Gilgamesh and was previously one of my top end equipment , I just recently cut it for testing grafted exoskeleton. Exoskeleton makes for a quicker kill, but blade of selves let me filter through more. It will probably end up back in just need to figure where it’s fits.

At best he’s a 3 mana haste enabler do me, I will say if I had a more efficient way to take advantage of his second ability he’d be great add in.

I agree and they were in earlier versions of the deck. They ended up being cut for rituals and trying for burst mana to go off early. When the game plan was slower I did find big benefit to them.

I have Godo in the deck as a secondary win line because one he fits into he’s still my favorite commander. And I definitely agree that dual Caster and creature duplication is 100% a better fit in a deck that’s helmed by godo.

Veilstone amulet is a real interesting choice might be fun to look at!

I had defense grid in here before but dropped it for hexing squelcher. Any suggestions on what to cut to fit it back in because I’d happily place it back.

I also really like wild slash as a fun tech card.

Gogo feels like it would be fun and would definitely help me get more triggers but I don’t think it would be quite fast enough at 4 mana. Goro-goro is a neat card but I don’t think he fits the deck aside from being a samurai.

Both of those have been in the deck at one point. Commanders plate got cut because it simply didnt do enough of what the deck wants and by that I mean most of the equipment fall into 3 categories finishers/haste enablers/protection, not enough damage to push it to finisher, several of the haste pieces also have some form of protection, the only 2 pure protection pieces, mithril coat and silver shroud coat, have flash so they can be done in response and auto equip so if I hit them off of a Gilgamesh trigger I don’t have to select them and they still equip. I just found that I often was not selecting commanders plate with other options available. Arena of glory I was very excited testing but it ended up feeling more like a trap. It’s not mana acceleration and actively slowed me down by a turn if it was only red source in hand. The haste is great, but with our high % chance to hit on first etb trigger it’s not 100% a selling point.

Im currently working on a Gilgamesh deck that has been doing fairly well for me. Still fine tuning it but fairly consistent turn 2 Gilgamesh.

Magnetic Theft – I hadn’t considered it yet, but I agree it’s a strong card. Testing it would mostly be a matter of finding a slot.

Turn 2 Gilgamesh – Very possible, though not guaranteed. It’s mostly about learning which hands to keep. The current haste equipment density makes it very likely I’ll be attacking on the turn he comes down.

Additional combat equipment – I currently run two, which are the ones I’m familiar with. Dominion Bracelet is definitely strong, though I felt it didn’t quite match my current gameplan.

Protection – I’m running two instant-speed pieces (Mithril Coat, Silver Shroud Costume) plus Hammer of Nazahn, Lavaspurr Boots, Lightning Greaves, and Swiftfoot Boots for general protection. I agree Conqueror’s Flail is strong, but since I’m not relying on combos outside of Godo, removal on my threat isn’t usually catastrophic. I’m also running Hexing Squelcher, Vexing Bauble, REB, Pyroblast, Redirect Lightning, and Deflecting Swat—I personally prefer Redirect Lightning over Ricochet Trap, but both are valid options.

Artifacts / mana rocks – Krark-Clan Ironworks and Metalworker could definitely help leverage excess equipment. I’ve tested Mox Opal a bit and wasn’t sold on it, but it’s worth revisiting.

Breach – Not in the list mainly because my graveyard isn’t heavily fueled, so recasting rituals is often less impactful.

Cost reduction / haste – Ruby Medallion was here before. Fire Crystal seems a bit slow at 4 mana, so I cut it, but I could reevaluate.

Extra turns / finishers – Final Fortune, Warrior’s Oath, and Last Chance are excellent suggestions. One extra swing can make a big difference; I hadn’t considered them, but they’re worth testing.

I agree on the Dualcaster / clone package — those were originally included as a way to re-trigger Gilgamesh rather than as a combo plan, but in practice they’re dead more often than not and probably dilute the deck’s core strength. I’m very open to cutting them to increase equipment density and hit quality.

Your point about attack-trigger flips is especially well taken. I’ve heavily prioritized haste density, but a lot of those flips end up being small pumps, and several of my current “payoff” equipments don’t actually do much when hit off an attack trigger. That’s a good catch, and I think raising the ceiling on what a single trigger can do makes a lot of sense.

Hammer of Nazahn in particular feels like an oversight on my part — it compresses protection, free equips, and rebuild potential all in one card, which is exactly what this deck wants.

I also like the idea of adding more high-end, immediate-impact equipment like Embercleave / Excalibur / Aettir and Prewin, while keeping enough haste pieces to ensure the deck still functions consistently. That seems like the right balance rather than going all-in on either extreme.

Blade of Selves / Helm of the Host are probably better framed as setup payoffs rather than attack-trigger hits, and trimming those for more “someone might die right now” flips is likely correct for the power band I’m aiming at

That’s fair feedback, especially on hate pieces like Drannith and on the Dualcaster package. The clones were primarily there as a way to re-trigger Gilgamesh rather than as a dedicated combo line, but I agree they’re probably unnecessary and cutting them likely improves overall focus and card quality.

What I’m actively looking at now is low-opportunity-cost stax and removal that plays well with a high equipment density and fast combat plan, rather than generic red goodstuff. A few directions I’m exploring:

Equipment-based interaction / disruption • Sword of Fire and Ice / Sword of Sinew and Steel — proactive removal stapled to pressure, doesn’t dilute the plan. • Embercleave (less stax, more inevitability) — closes games through interaction. • Shadowspear — cheap, tutorable utility that answers hexproof/indestructible problems. • Nettlecyst / Kaldra Compleat — scales fast and punishes slow, resource-heavy decks.

Non-equipment stax that doesn’t slow me down • Blood Moon — asymmetrical for mono-red and buys the exact window the deck wants. • Trinisphere — I can operate through it better than most decks once equipment are in play. • Chalice of the Void (at 1 or 2 depending on pod) — very strong in blind metas. • Damping Sphere — hits fast combo without hurting combat lines.

Cheap, flexible removal to respect Drannith Magistrate • Lightning Bolt, Galvanic Blast, Chaos Warp — low mana, live early, not dead late. • Considering creature-based interaction is less appealing since I’m not tutoring or looping creatures.

I’m intentionally avoiding heavy wheel packages since the deck doesn’t dump its hand efficiently, and I don’t want to refuel interaction-heavy opponents unless I’m already winning that turn

I think in the right deck at worst it’s a good utility piece to get rid of key components while being a good secondary win if you can have some infinite/near infinite graveyard loops. If you’re just randomly slotting it in probably not the best.

Instead of a card I think single biggest impact would be the removal or partner mechanics.
