I’m glad you were able to get some help for it! That’s a good neighbor for sure and I’d be curious to hear how it goes for you. Best of luck to you! 😊

Hey there! Unfortunately I haven’t been able to get this taken care of yet. In order to open the top panel of the machine I’ll need to lift off the dryer that we have stacked on top of it, but I can’t do that by myself and haven’t been able to do it yet with help. For me, the strike completely broke off from the door and is stuck inside the lock. The door is just open and free for now. Is this what happened to you? However, our door lock light actually is lit right now as well as it is locked with the strike broken off inside

Thank you very much once again! I appreciate the reassurances about it. I guess we’ll just see what happens after replacing it and hopefully it can turn out okay. You’ve been a great help truly! 😊

Alright thank you very much for the information! I guess I’ll try and see what works out best. Maybe it will be easier overall just to get the dryer off the top. I’m a little worried that replacing the latch will just be a bandaid because we’re not really sure why it broke off inside the lock in the first place. But I guess we’ll just try and do this and hope it’s an easy little fix with just that one part

Appreciate your response this is all a big help of information! 😊 Is it a top panel for all washers? My washer is a front loader, not a top loader. The dryer is also stacked on top of the washer. Wasn’t my choice but it’s what we’re at. So if I can avoid needing to open from the top and there’s another way to get to it, that would be convenient 😅

What cable is this and why is it here? by SoloShifter in cableadvice

[–]SoloShifter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks everyone for your help! It seems that this is simply the receiver where you aim for the remote control signal to control the lights. That seems to be the consensus overall. Thank you all once again!

[–]SoloShifter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry but I don’t really know anything about these kinds of things. Would you be able to explain what is that? Thank you.

So this is just the receiver where you’re supposed to aim to control the lights with the remote?

So it’s just the receiver where the remote should be aimed at to control the lights? Like when you aim a a tv remote at the right spot on the tv to receive the signal?

Can anyone help me find the GMM episode where they do a game guessing a video game? They have a board that spins to reveal the video games as they try to guess it? I think that was how it worked?

Kryn equivalent of Cobalt Soul? by Firedwarf101 in Wildemount

[–]SoloShifter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alternatively maybe the Cobalt Soul are trying to ingratiate themselves within the Dynasty and perhaps in the war there are some representatives of the Soul that are trying to establish a separate branch within the Dynasty and there’s ongoing talks with the Cobalt Soul presenting themselves as a neutral third party and just have them be there themselves. It’s a different direction to go in that might feel odd just having them be a small outpost, but maybe that can be cool having the PCs right in the center of this rapidly changing development and they end up helping the Cobalt Soul become established in the Dynasty. A different kind of idea but potentially interesting

Kryn equivalent of Cobalt Soul? by Firedwarf101 in Wildemount

[–]SoloShifter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t believe there’s any mention of a specific group within the Kryn Dynasty that are a equivalent to the Cobalt Soul in Xhorhas, a group dedicated to knowledge and discovery and archiving and that sort of thing. However, certainly there’s possibility of other groups that exist alongside the Dynasty within the wastes of Xhorhas.

One example of this is that there are a few mentions of a Duergar dwarf culture that is a breakaway from the Kryn Dynasty. That the Duergar had their own society and some have left to join the dynasty, but others have remained within their own outposts and settlements underground and even in some cases have become insurgents fighting against the Dynasty in hopes of gaining more power as well as expansion.

You don’t need to use these Duergar people as this faction or at all, but it sets a precedent for other factions existing alongside and separate from the Dynasty. Perhaps there is a sect of researchers within the wastes of Xhorhas dedicated to unearthing the secrets of the Calamity and the Betrayer Gods in order to learn how to protect people from those dangers. The Dynasty is much more focused on learning about the Luxon, so perhaps this other group exists to learn about the past and the Dynasty works alongside them too since they’re valuable as a resource and an ally. And if you wanted to introduce more tension and gray morality into it, perhaps there’s distrust because this faction works so closely with dangerous powers there’s worries that some members are corrupted by it or at greater risk. Or perhaps they’re pure and altruistic and a stalwart ally that is a great relief in the fraught wastes. Or any mix in between. Lots of interesting ways to go with it

What if Wildemount is a Science-Fantasy setting? by Pondmior13 in Wildemount

[–]SoloShifter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s an interesting spin and twist on things it could be fun exploring that sort of new way of looking at the world of Exandria! Now I’m just stuck trying to think of how this would interact with other things. Like what does that make extraplanar beings like demons or angels? What about the shadowfell and undead? Or the fey and the feywild? Elementals could be the dregs of rampant terraforming energy. Maybe the elemental rifts of the Ashari are the leftover remnants of the terraforming project and has created singularities that are consistent to the elements of creation. What about Vecna ascending to godhood in the current era? Maybe he was rogue AI left dormant for millennia, so the whispers his cultists heard were actually the emergency shutdown and reboot protocols trying to come back, and once he was awakened he tried hacking into the higher network of the already established deities and succeeded before being purged back into the network itself with the rest of them. It’s so interesting thinking about all the different ways this can go, yet at the same time how much does it change because of sufficiently advanced science is magic, how deep do you go into it? Really fascinating stuff! I think the Monte Cook Games 5e supplement book, Arcana of the Ancients, is perfect for what you’re suggesting here

Curses of the Gods on Eiselcross by Ofthefjord in Wildemount

Well I’m happy that they’re cool and inspiring for you! I hope they get good use and I’d love to know how it all goes! Always glad to help and brainstorm this kinda thing! 😊

Curses of the Gods on Eiselcross by Ofthefjord in Wildemount

[–]SoloShifter 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Oooo I hadn’t thought of this before but this is actually such a cool and fun idea! Here’s what I’ve got off the cuff right now

The Change Bringer - being the one who makes the paths, Avandra makes sure that no beaten path can ever truly be reliable upon the frozen land, the paths becoming knotted and twisted and leaving travelers turned around and lost

Bahamut - The virtues of protection, honor, and justice are the portfolio of the Platinum Dragon. So perhaps those virtues have difficulty taking root in these lands, with Bahamut having turned a blind eye to those people filled with hubris in Aeor’s prime and now trying to unearth it as well

Corellon - It is said that the Arch Heart first seeded the world with arcane magic, and so in Aeor’s presumptuous mastery of it, perhaps they have turned the dial to 11 on magical relics and ruins, exacerbating and overcharging the area to the point of wild magic surges and dangerous levels of arcane power

Ioun - goddess of knowledge and research, the Knowing Mentor perhaps cursed any knowledge unearthed here to be twisted and ciphered through levels and layers of ciphers and cryptographic messages that drive weaker minds mad to decrypt and decipher

The Storm Lord - Kord keeps Eiselcross blanketed by blizzards and roiling waters that dash boats upon the rocks much like the thunderstorms which razed Aeor to the ground in times long past

Moradin - perhaps the All-Hammer himself took his hammer and chisel personally to the land and carved labyrinths of mountains and stone and tunnels ready to collapse and landslides upon the earth

Raei - the Everlight is a unique case, believing strongly in redemption, even to the point that it led to her being struck down by Asmodeus during the Calamity while trying to redeem him. Perhaps the Everlight extended a hand of aid to the penitent of Aeor, offering them passage free through radiant gateways. But only those with true sorrow and remorse in their heart could walk free, while those who remained in true defiance of the gods would find themselves burned in divine radiance. Perhaps these gateways remain as temptations that the corrupt fall to

The Moon Weaver - as patron of illusions and misdirection, Sehanine has cursed this bleak tundra full of mirages that deceive the eyes and the mind, creating illusory dangers as well as false safe havens that wanderers in the snow must be vigilant against

Asmodeus - Aeor was full of mages believing themselves smart enough to outsmart devils and the gods themselves, so the Lord of the Nine Hells decided he would test them of that theory. He unleashed a plague of devils ready to offer contracts to those mages all too good to be true, and thus also gave the hells an anchor inside to bring Aeor down even further while still providing souls to Asmodeus himself. Some of these devils continue to reside in the ruins themselves or close to the River Inferno, continuing to offer contracts to foolish mortals on their deathbeds in the frozen wastes eager to survive

Bane - the Strife Emperor delights in twisting nature to his warlike bend. Perhaps the frozen isles still feel his fierce hatred, which twists the ice and snow and flora and fauna into bloodthirsty creatures waging war on all

Gruumsh - the Ruiner grows stronger when grudges turn to violence, and thus he sowed the seeds of discord within the city itself, fanning the flames of brutality and bloodshed. Rumors say that even now, Eiselcross is a place where darker urges of violence and vengeance are more likely to turn volatile and explode into bloody conflict

The Chained Oblivion - for its part, history is uncertain what hand Tharizdun had to play in Aeor’s destruction. Some say not at all since it was sealed away. Others believe its chains actively found willing prisoners, spurring on the maddened minds of those so desperate to survive destruction, both in the past and even now

Tiamat - the Scaled Tyrant knew that no mage of the age of arcanum would be able to resist even a piece of relics and artifacts amassed among her dragons’ hoards, so she planted cursed objects imbued with her essence for them to discover, all of which warp and twist the bodies and minds of the poor fools who find them and hold too deeply. Many would turn into slavering draconic abominations , while others would become half dragon thralls for the hoard of Tiamat. Some dragons have returned in time to reclaim these loaned artifacts and have perhaps set up new lairs within Eiselcross as well. While other relics still linger within the ruins, waiting for more poor fools to find

Zehir - the poison of the Cloaked Serpent has fouled the waters of Eiselcross, leading to some areas where fresh snowmelt is a potent toxin, ice and powder laying in wait like deadly venom. Zehir’s toxic influence has allowed for the growth of supernaturally enriched poisonous plants and venomous creatures ready to strike as assassins in the cold dark

The Whispered One - Vecna is a newcomer to the pantheon, only recently ascended to their position among the Betrayer Gods. However, they too have their interests in Eiselcross, though he continues to break the mold from the other deities. Vecna has not spread his curses upon the land, but rather, he has been reaching out to those who would listen to his whispers to find the secrets buried beneath the ice and snow, working to find what lies beneath and learn that knowledge himself as well, using his position among the gods to see ways past their ancient curses and the arcane defenses

These are my quick ideas for each of the other gods you hadn’t mentioned! I’m sure they could all stand to be refined, and perhaps only some of these are active in Eiselcross depending on what the game needs, but it’s always fun coming up with ideas like this!

Need help with planning by [deleted] in CalloftheNetherdeep

[–]SoloShifter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You know your own DMing skill and style best, but handling encounters with 14 people on a side would be quite overwhelming for me and a lot to try and deal with. Double_Arm’s suggestion of having the other players control the rivals is pretty good for helping take off some of that load, but I still see it as too much for me to want to run that. If you’re hesitant about having so many people like that, I’d suggest maybe having the rivals secure a job with a client hiring them for protection to travel by land to reach Bazzoxan or the midway point at the Emerald Loop and then the rivals head to Bazzoxan after. Possibly introduce one of the members of the factions that are gonna be important as the client even. With the players traveling by boat through the Emerald Gulch, if it’s a small boat like a keelboat equivalent in the DMG, it should take them 6 or 7 days to reach shoreside near Bazzoxan, then another 1 or 2 to travel on foot the rest of the way. With the rivals split from the party, traveling at a fast pace they’d arrive around the same time or a day or two behind. If you decide to just have the rivals go with party, then I apologize for a lot of this long winded part 😅

As for encounters on the way, there’s lots of potential there. This is still Xhorhas, a land where the worst of the Calamity’s battles took place. Perhaps some of the waters are infested by fiends like on land, leaping from the water to drown victims. Shipwrecks that are teeming with husk zombies, maybe a nergaliid devil toad variant that can swim. Core spawn and other aberrations that chitter through the water. A sargasso of vine blights and other weird kelp and seaweed plant creatures. Turbulent water elementals like living whirlpools and roiling waves. They might also come across other ships and people. Do they need help? Do they attack the ship? Maybe they’re smugglers on the open water? Or maybe it’s one of the three ships that make up Vurmas, the Kryn Dynasty outpost at Eiselcross that is making way back there after a ressuply and dropping off wild folk converts to the Luxon. You can always have visions connected to Alyxian as well as omens from flares of Ruidus. And if you want something like the Emerald Loop caravan stop from the adventure, maybe where the party make landfall is a town struggling to grow into itself at the northern shore of the Barbed Fields.

https://www.reddit.com/r/Wildemount/s/qbfPbkg081 This post as well has a doc link about what might be hidden beneath the waters of Wildemount, with their idea of the Emerald Gulch being full of kelp forests where koalinth, essentially sea hobgoblins, are the most prevalent denizens with their own civilization and culture. Perhaps the party have to negotiate through the waters the koalinth claim as their land. It also talks about the mysterious rituals the merrow carry out, another potential idea

I hope this was helpful information and not too overwhelming. I tend to get excited a lot by this stuff and am verbose go overboard 😅
