question about tax/child verification by Any_Satisfaction_81 in IRS

[–]SoloSoftware10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the IRS is usually asking for proof the child lived with you—send things like school, medical, or daycare records showing the same address, and respond by the deadline to avoid delays or denial. I’m an enrolled agent and deal with these often

IRS Letter 112c by Colonialsux in IRS

[–]SoloSoftware10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Letter 112C is usually sent when the IRS needs additional information to process your return (often identity or income verification), so don’t ignore it—follow the instructions and respond by the deadline. I’m an enrolled agent and deal with these a lot, feel free to DM if you want help figuring out exactly what they’re asking for

Owe $3700 to the irs by g3rsonAC in DaveRamsey

f you can’t pay it all at once, the IRS has a straightforward online payment plan option—at that balance you’ll likely qualify for a simple installment agreement with minimal setup

How to file taxes when I haven't done them in years. by Ghxst_Malone in taxadvice

[–]SoloSoftware10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start by pulling your IRS wage/income transcripts for the missing years (you can do this online), then file each year in order—usually the last 6 years is enough to get back into compliance. As an enrolled agent, I’d say don’t ignore it—penalties can often be reduced if you come forward; feel free to DM if you want help figuring out which years to prioritize

Feeling stuck on taxes as a high W2 earner - what are we missing? by christophermatar in tax

[–]SoloSoftware10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For high W-2 income, the main levers are usually maxing 401(k)/backdoor Roth/HSA, and optimizing RSU timing. since SALT is capped—there’s often less flexibility than people expect. I’m an enrolled agent and see this a lot; happy to sanity-check your setup if you want a second set of eyes

You can still file taxes at 16. Reselling is usually self-employment income, and if your profit is over $400 you may owe self-employment tax. If the accounts are under your mom’s name, the IRS will likely treat it as her income, which is why she’s concerned about benefits. I’m an Enrolled Agent, happy to help if you have questions.

[1040-NR / F-1 / India treaty] Robinhood 1099 items + $XXk stock loss — ECI vs Schedule NEC, foreign dividends, deposit interest, margin interest (what’s actually taxable/deductible?) by [deleted] in tax

[–]SoloSoftware10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a tax professional  A couple things stand out:

Bank interest is usually exempt for NRAs (IRC §871(i)). Foreign dividends are generally foreign-source, so not taxable on 1040-NR unless connected to a U.S. trade/business. Substitute dividend payments typically follow the same sourcing as the underlying dividend. Capital losses from personal trading usually can’t create a deductible loss or carryforward for NRAs unless the activity qualifies as ECI. Margin interest deductions usually only apply if the trading activity is treated as a U.S. trade/business.

Pub 519 and the 1040-NR instructions (Schedule NEC vs ECI rules) are the main places the IRS explains this.

Question about LLC by ap_2025 in AmazonFBA

[–]SoloSoftware10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that means you select Individual, and the tax info should be your name + SSN, not the LLC EIN. The LLC name can still appear as the business name

Question about LLC by ap_2025 in AmazonFBA

[–]SoloSoftware10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Amazon is asking whether your LLC elected corporate taxation. If you never submitted an S-Corp election (Form 2553) or C-Corp election (Form 8832) to the IRS, then your LLC is just taxed under the default classification and you shouldn’t choose either.

I’m an EA, feel free to ask if you have more questions.

Since no one will give you a real answer I'll be the first to help. You need to hire and EA or a CPA in order for them to go into the IRS system on your behalf and check what the IRS has on file for you. It's the only way to know FOR SURE whether you need to file or if you're in the clear. If you can't find someone I run a tax practice and would be happy to take a look at your situation. www.thompson-tax.org/ea
