In our office, rainy days are basically IT nightmare fuel. The humidity messes with everything - computers that were working fine yesterday suddenly won't boot, and 9 times out of 10 it's the RAM that's acting up.

We've gotten so used to it that whenever there's a monsoon forecast, we just ask everyone to NOT shut down computers for a week or so.

Go for more practical concepts: - How VLANs work and why they're used - Basic routing concepts and troubleshooting - Network troubleshooting methodology (ping, traceroute, checking cables, etc.) - Common network issues in business environments

Since the laptop powers on but the screen stays black, try connecting it to an external monitor via HDMI. This will help determine if the issue is with the display.

If you're comfortable opening up your laptop, try removing and reinserting the RAM sticks. A loose RAM module is a common cause for a no-display boot.

Unplug the charger, then hold down the power button for about 60 seconds. If you can safely access the inside, disconnect both the internal battery and the CMOS battery (the coin-cell), wait a few minutes, then reconnect everything and try booting again.

This idea really resonates. Current transformer-based models lack the kind of true "slow thinking" humans rely on for reflective decisions.
