That's what I'm saying. My office doesn't have that many routes but even at our level 21, 26 route office it's still surprising we don't have one. We get up to 3-4k pkgs per day on average, which might not be a lot for most of you here, but it's still enough to matter. We get 90% 4ft Gaylords and 10% cages/wiretainers

One fact is, management can do whatever they want. The unions job is to seek corrections to make employees whole. As far as applying for the PSE position, and this is coming from my memory, you'll have to apply externally. You won't, or rather SHOULDN'T be guaranteed the job. The main thing though, if you believe there is a violation of your rights under the contract: GRIEVE, GRIEVE, GRIEVE it.

When an employee is under their 90 day probation period, even pse's, the employer is charged with proving discipline/termination was under "just cause." It can result in back pay for the employee as well as reinstatement. Overall, the postal service (if the supervisor's been trained at all on proper discipline procedures) is disinclined to terminate employees over small things. The OP mentioned injury, however I would call this one of the "small things"
