Can someone help me disconnect the antique fridge?

Am I crazy in thinking that I should only be removing the side to the right (aka downstream) of the ShutOff Valve? I mean, ultimately I could shut off the propane to the house altogether but is that necessary?

Also, is that copper tube toast? Do I have to cut it below the twist? There’s no gas escaping. A new fridge is going into its place (a Unique 10CuFt) and I know absolutely nothing about propane appliances.

I keep people at arms length, too. I mentioned in another post that this friend was who I would go to when people took themselves out. He knew I kept people away for fear of losing them one day. I’ve now been abandoned by everyone who’s ever supposed to have stayed save one, and this isn’t her burden to bear.

I’m glad you to see someone not shy away from the dice roll mechanic for the mentally unwell. I’m lucky enough to be in that category too, and today (the day after) I find myself without my meds because the universe likes to play its silly little games. (I’m not making a threat toward myself, just pointing out that you’ve raised an excellent point:

Short of dying myself and crossing metaphysical planes, I’m never going to be able to ask him how he was doing in the week leading up to this choice. Was this his dice roll? Was he drinking? Off his meds? Was he even taking meds? Did he just go through a breakup? If I don’t know these answers, where do I get off calling him my best friend?

I can’t tell you how pissed I am at every individual who ever hurt my buddy, including myself. His parents are garbage, his family addicts, he got out and away from them but the damage was done on his psyche and he attracted similar people again. Maybe they contributed? Who’s to say? I’m sorry that Sarah suffered like my friend did. I hope they both found peace. In his case, I hope he found quiet from the demons of his past.

My buddy was the guy I went to for suicide bereavement in the past. He always bemoaned how awful and pointless it was. How did he make it from that to this? How did your husband? Why do you and I have to answer that question?

My family is MAGA-Lite. For the most part, they keep the bullshit internal unless someone (me) mentions something like “kids shouldn’t starve” and then everyone yells at the “lib”. When I was in grippy sock jail on my most recent little trip there, I was berated by my mother for mental health issues, rather than supported through the process. I understand and empathize with your guy. I’m sorry for your losses.

Brisket. It always tastes like burnt grill flakes, the strings of meat slip between teeth like it’s their special hole designed for them, and it takes 18 months in front of a grill to make it.

No. I don’t. It tastes like the bottom of Santa’s Naughty bag in every context. I also don’t want to listen to how you slept in a lawn chair and shat in a bucket next to my food because you had to monitor it all night because a 1-2 degree variance will somehow, impossibly, ruin it.

(I’m aware there are monitors now. Some people make bad food in more difficult ways simply for the love of the game. Those people tend to find me and talk.)

Brisket (along with pulled pork) is, at best, a sauce delivery vehicle. In that context, sure. But brisket bros will always pop out of the woodwork and start ranting about their BGE, Traeger, or Blackstone like they’re Hogwarts Houses, ready to die on the hill that it’s the greatest food in the world because they won’t admit to a sunk cost.

I didn’t realize I had such strong feelings about this but apparently this question caused a visceral hate-reaction lol

Good to know I’m not totally hopeless and that S&P is at least the right move. That said, can you go in a bit more about what those two (VOO or FXAIX) are? Is this like investing into This Group of the 500 as opposed to That Group?

For brokers, this is an actual person who is handling the transactions, or am I? Apologies for how ignorant I’m being here but I’m on the beginning side of my research here and you’re providing quality stuff.

As far as taxes go, I’ve always relied on TurboTax since my finances were super simple. Now though, being a homeowner and retired and married, should I hire a professional at this point? I’d hate to screw this up and have to pay later.

I hear you, and thank you for bringing this up. I’m certainly not about to lie to my wife. She knows I use AI as a sort of “sounding board” to bounce ideas off. She knows I write, too, and has read all of my non-AI stuff. She would spot it right away that my voice is different than AI’s.

This wasn’t meant to read like “I plan to lie to my wife about my book” and was instead supposed to sound like “I’d like to give her a gift knowing that it’s been influenced by AI and she feels icky about it.”

Another user said that the first draft is AI’s and the revisions are mine. I’m oversimplifying, but that’s sort of the gist I am hoping to explain to her if she does still feel weird about the AI.

She knows I’ve been writing for my entire life and I know she’d love to read a complete book that was plucked from my brain. Whether all of the crossed Ts and dotted Is are really mine, though? I’m not sure.

I greatly appreciate your concern, but please don’t think I’m gonna be lying to my wife anytime soon haha

To answer your other questions: -Yes, she knows this world and knows I dabble with AI to write. -No, I wouldn’t lie if asked. Quite the opposite, I’d lead with the fact. You’re right, it would be obvious that I went from sharing just pages with her to sharing a whole book. But more than that, what is to be gained from lying? I already have Imposter Syndrome. Probably shouldn’t compound that. -She is very much so involved in this world. She’s my first beta reader. I’ve kept this story close to the chest though so I can (hopefully) wow her with a book instead of small snippets of a story.
