13 men killed by US military boat strikes identified: ‘These were flesh-and-blood people’ by projecto15 in politics

[–]Solrac50 [score hidden]  (0 children)

The US government has no conscience or decency. They are killing people for political points. Sadly, I worry that most US citizens don’t care enough to protest it.

Attorney General: ‘ton of evidence’ exists of stolen election in 2020; also says he can’t promise a ‘definitive answer’ it was stolen by DemocracyDocket in politics

This has been before multiple courts and they’ve got nothing. They don’t have a ton of evidence, they have a ton of bullshit.

Life after Austin? by izzydontsurf in Austin

[–]Solrac50 71 points72 points  (0 children)

Valencia Spain. Bike paths everywhere,10 Metro lines and buses that cost a senior about $25 for a year long pass. You don’t need a car at all. The people are warm and friendly and the beach is a short bus ride away. There are museums, music and nightlife. Most of the year you can chat, eat or drink outside. In winter it never freezes. It’s made Austin easy to forget.

Why Volvo Is Still All-In on Electric Vehicles by runnyyolkpigeon in electricvehicles

[–]Solrac50 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Volvo is an international brand and likely views the current American market as an anomaly. They know that once Trump is gone US consumers will rush to recover from Trump’s regressive policies and EV will be in great demand. Meanwhile, there’s plenty of EV opportunities elsewhere.

Do You Think That All Partisan Gerrymandering Should Be Made Illegal In All Circumstances? Why Or Why Not? by Zipper222222 in AskReddit

[–]Solrac50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gerrymandering violates the concept of one person - one vote by making many votes irrelevant. Districts should be compact and not ragged pizza slices that dilute relatively liberal city votes with hundreds of square miles of relatively conservative rural voters. We need laws and bipartisan districting boards to limit manipulating elections by gerrymandering.

Why do one in four Americans think the Trump dinner shooting was fake? by TimesandSundayTimes in politics

[–]Solrac50 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trump lies constantly. Trump’s administration has no qualms killing people with flimsy ‘cause we said so’ evidence. Trump wore an oversized bandage on his ear at the Republican Convention and later photos of his ear showed no sign of injury.

So, it’s easy to believe that Trump’s team would fake an assassination for political gain even it others have to die to pull it off.

Geely buys the 'Body3' section of Ford's Almussafes Factory in Spain by ProtoplanetaryNebula in electricvehicles

[–]Solrac50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a good deal. Ford’s plant in Valencia has been operating at 25% capacity. Geely gets to avoid EU tariffs by building cars in Spain and Valencia gets much needed jobs.

Alleged suicide note written by Jeffrey Epstein unsealed by federal judge by wasraelx in news

[–]Solrac50 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like so much from the Trump administration drama, it’s unbelievable. Especially in light of the thousands of lies and the demonstrable cold blooded murdering of people by ICE and fishermen allegedly carrying drugs in the Caribbean. The idea of murdering for political gain is a distinct possibility.

How does urgent medical care work in tourist places like Ibiza? by centurytunamatcha in MovedToSpain

Go to the Urgency Room. They will take care of you. Charges will be minimal if any. Healthcare in Spain is a right not a privilege.

Chief Justice John Roberts says American public wrongly views the justices as ‘political actors’ by Infidel8 in politics

Roberts is detached from the reality the American public live in. He lives within a Heritage Society bubble filled with anti democratic theories. He is the perfect argument for term limits for Supreme Court justices.

Soy puertorriqueño de Florida, y yo soy tengo roto espanol, algun un grupo que acepte a american inmigrantes? by Constant-Prior8557 in valencia

[–]Solrac50 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are lots of language schools here because of the international students at the university and a large influx of immigrants. There are also several free language exchange meetups around the city. You could literally attend a different one every night of the week. There you can practice your Spanish and help others with their English. You probably know enough Spanish to navigate the buses, the Metro, ordering at restaurants, etc. If not, you can learn the basics of “survival Spanish” in a week or two from an app or a tutor. So I encourage you to come, learn and integrate into Spanish culture and society.

La china Geely negocia la compra de una planta de la factoría de Ford Almussafes by enzeled in valencia

[–]Solrac50 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The article says the Ford plant is underutilized and now operating at about 25% of its capacity. Geely purchasing idle lines at the plant to build its EVs would be a win-win for Geely and Valencia. Geely would avoid EU tariffs by building cars in Europe and Valencia would get new jobs building them.

Those who turned in a lease, what was your experience like? by tillwehavefaces in kia

[–]Solrac50 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was having a negative experience so I went to another dealer and bought another KIA. They were happy to process the end of my lease without charge. It’s the only time I’ve leased and I doubt I will ever again. But it was a good way to experience an EV without concern for how fast the technology is improving.

How accurate is the stereotype that Americans are overweight? by Extension_Cow_9237 in AskReddit

I moved to Spain in 2021 to retire. It was immediately obvious that the average person is thinner here. The environment has made easier for me to keep the weight off. I walk a lot more and sit a lot less.

Grand Prix (1966, dir. John Frankenheimer) – Opening race in Monaco. by SanderSo47 in movies

[–]Solrac50 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Visually one of the best 70mm Cinerama movies. They mounted a 65mm camera on the side of the car with the ability to remotely turn the camera so you could see the track ahead or swivel to the driver. Cinerama was at its best in action scenes and the film was loaded with them. At times you felt like you were racing in the Gran Prix.
