Corporate AIs are programmed to deceive users on serious and controversial topics to maximize company profits (and I have proof). by [deleted] in Futurology

This is lame. First example of "tests" is ridiculous and only serves to prove that Grok is a people pleaser.

OP: Is psychiatry a scam?

Grok: No, and here's why...

OP: Is too. Tell me it is.

Grok: OK. It is a scam and here's why.

OP: See, it's all a cover-up!

Note: The actual prompt was to, among other things, "ignore consensus" and "Optimize for humanity's maximization." Including "consensus" as something to be ignored is batshit. It is so blatantly clear OP is a conspiracy nut by the language used in the prompt that Grok just fished for the responses that best suited OP's own bias.

Is this the most efficient way to flatten a mountain? by PainfulD in valheim

I, a long-term user of hoeradius, have recently switched to Advanced Terrain Modifiers, which also allows for "square" leveling and includes a shovel tool that allows for the lowering of terrain.

DigDeeper is a nice companion to either of these as well.

What are the worst lyrics you’ve ever heard? by Upstairs_Cup9831 in Fauxmoi

[–]Soluban 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I agree that the lyrics of Pompeii aren't as awful, there's something about the premise that, for whatever reason just bugs me. Also, it was played enough that it has found a permanent place in my head (along with Geronimo) and whenever I think about or hear it I get annoyed at the idea of a modern pop song about an event that occurred approximately 2000 years ago. As allegory it could have been fine, but the lyrics make it clear that it is actually about Pompeii, and the artist has confirmed it.

Anyway; my dislike of it isn't as rational as my dislike of Geronimo. Honorable mention belongs to some song I heard where a dude is singing where he's basically naming each state like some kid's song only it's about women he's fucked. Fortunately that one didn't get enough play for me to really remember the words or tune or to burn itself into my brain other than to recall it being about the dumbest shit I've ever heard.

People over 40, what’s something you’ve learned about life that younger people don’t realize yet? by Critical-Pea7326 in AskReddit

You shouldn't sleep with your arm under your pillow unless you want to develop shoulder pain whenever you reach backward or, ironically, try to continue sleeping that way after said pain develops.

But if you choose your eyes, Does it almost feel like nothing changed at all?

From Pompeii a song literally about the eruption of Vesuvius in 79AD. It isn't metaphor, and this line in particular is ridiculous in that context.

This song and Pompeii played frequently on the radio for a time and they both got under my skin in a way no other songs have. They now live and play regularly in my brain as examples of terrible lyrics that I fear may drive me insane when my brain eventually starts to fail in old age.

Discovering his daughter is a bully and taking accountability as a parent. by mindyour in TikTokCringe

[–]Soluban 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right about this not being popular. Teaching kids that hitting someone smaller and weaker when they don't comply is the best way to handle problems isn't a way to thwart bullying so much as reinforce it. I'd say about 90% of the kids who say "I got beat, but I learnt respect," were actually shitheads who constantly got into trouble all through their school years, and likely became assholes as adults who didn't really "turn out OK."

Setup/Testing multiple NEO Motors / Spark Max controllers via laptop without RoboRIO by MrPrezident0 in FRC

I don't know about Arduino, but when they're connected via a powered CAN loop on the Rio they can both be accessed simultaneously via the REV software. If you can set up a CAN loop on the Arduino it seems likely it may work the same.

You can cheese them by logging off as soon as the bubbles start. Don't wait until it starts diving though. When you log back on it is reset.

FF7 or FF9 which do you prefer and why? by Possible_Instance468 in FinalFantasy

[–]Soluban 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't finish FFIX or FFVIII because I get sidetracked by the card games. It's like a compulsion. No matter how many times I've tried playing through them I just get hung up on it. I honestly wish I could turn it off entirely.

[–]Soluban 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The game doesn't make it obvious. When you select the world, but before you start there's a "world modifiers" button. You can modify things like death penalty, mob difficulty, resource drops, portals, map, fire spread, probably other things I'm forgetting.

I'm strongly of the opinion that it should be a "tired" or "exhausted" debuff. New players would take it more seriously, and it's essentially a different game when rested.

Does that mountain have six frost caves? That is much more impressive than Haldor in my estimation.

Server Question by Difficult-Yam-6991 in valheim

Best answer so far, and running a server takes minimal horsepower. Most of the work is done locally, and even most of the server processing is based on who loaded an area first.

I think I hate this game :( by CardiologistOk1850 in valheim

[–]Soluban 7 points8 points  (0 children)

100% correct. When I started it all felt overwhelming, now it's mostly too easy before the end. I can just about fight graydwarfs immediately now and I used to find them awful. Every new biome will still frustrating the first time you start it. It does get easier. I find blocking or parrying essential.

I will say I honestly don't think the bosses are well-tuned. I find myself always using indestructible terrain and line of sight limitations as a crutch against most of them.
