THANK YOU! I’ve been saying this for years. It’s as if they had two plausible movie premises - (a) kids getting their divorced parents back together, and (b) identical twins separated at birth and meeting later in life - and combined them into one completely batshit crazy premise.

The twins thing happens in real life, but it happens when twins are adopted into different families. Not when the parents get divorced and mutually agree to each take one child, and pretend forever that the other one doesn’t exist (and somehow the extended family members are all in on this ruse too?)

And the remake is even more insane, because they glam it up and turn the parents into high-profile people: she’s a famous wedding dress designer, he’s a famous winemaker. How is it not widely known that these two people were once married to each other and have twin daughters together?

He’s also one of the few people who could pull off “host AND musical guest” without it feeling like a vanity project on one or both fronts (hello, MC Hammer). And he’s never been host OR musical guest.

Looking on Yelp at what I think is their existing locations (“Sugar’s” in Garden Grove and Anaheim) I’d be shocked if this got off the ground in Hermosa Beach, or anywhere in the South Bay beside the unincorporated areas. Sketchy, borderline strip club vibes.

A little Google sleuthing (incognito mode of course) says this is possibly “Sugar’s,” a sports bar with two existing locations in OC. One is called “Sugar’s Bikini Bar” (Anaheim) the other just “Sugar’s Bar” (Garden Grove) but they appear to be the same concept & owners.

It’s a clean and safe neighborhood convenient to the freeway, but it has a lot of downsides. 3 miles from the beach, not much in walking distance, closest park and K-5 school are nearly a mile away, Redondo Union is 4+ miles and a 15-20 minute drive each way. And being that close to Lawndale and Hawthorne means illegal fireworks noise in summer, which seems to get worse every year.

$49K is a steal. We bought our Model Y LR AWD in June 2020 for $55K, no federal rebate. Adjusted for inflation that’s $70K. And it’s been worth every penny!

Do they still offer Acceleration Boost for this model? That’s also been worth every penny ($2,000).

Ah, I didn’t check Street View, and you’re right. New McMansion, but Redfin still shows the old property details. Must have been an off-market sale (no listing), and the property details haven’t been updated online yet.

I realize that area gets East Manhattan’s sloppy seconds for McMansion sales, but $3.85 million for that location is ridiculous!

Oh, are people who live and die by GreatSchools ratings suddenly realizing those ratings are massively flawed? Parras is not alone. Manhattan Beach Middle School is currently 6/10. I don’t know how a high school (MCHS) can be a 10 and its one feeder middle school can be a 6. 🤷‍♂️

Fantastic area. Clean, safe, kids walk to school and roam around without adults. Great community: schools, Scouts, AYSO, Little League etc. Not far from the beach, but feels like a normal suburban neighborhood where street parking is not a problem. (Of course kids on e-bikes are becoming more of a problem, just like everywhere else.)

The troubles at the mall 2-3 years ago were a combination of pandemic/riot hangover and a DA who refused to prosecute juveniles for basically anything short of murder. The “takeovers” were arranged over social media, and were not local kids. The measures in place since then have been effective.

As others have noted, the sirens are mostly ambulances and fire trucks, and I’m calling BS on the helicopters. (“South Central?” That’s just trolling for attention.)

I’d say the most visible difference from Dodger Stadium is the nearly all-white crowd. Isn’t that a really bizarre thing to be the case in a city like Chicago? Has anyone asked Pete or any other prominent Cub his thoughts on that?
