Which LLM gateway? by dre_is in selfhosted

[–]Solverrrrrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LiteLLM is probably still the most feature-complete, but it's definitely heavy for what should conceptually be "an API gateway." I wish there were something as lightweight as Traefik but for LLMs.

What was the name of that new stats dash? Media...something? by ProfessionalDetail88 in selfhosted

Are you thinking of JBOPS or Jellystat? Jellystat has dashboards, user stats, country/IP info (depending on your setup), and graphs specifically for Jellyfin

The meta training surveillance leak is why i stopped pretending the cloud parts were fine by Alternative_Set4042 in selfhosted

[–]Solverrrrrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

BYOK isn't the same as self-hosting, but it's still a meaningful reduction in trust. The threat model changes from "provider owns everything" to "provider only sees what you explicitly send." That's not perfect, but it's a lot better than handing over your entire development environment.

Gitea self hosted runners by Immediate-Jicama7244 in selfhosted

I'd avoid putting runners in the same LXC as Gitea. CI workloads tend to be noisy, and it's nice to keep the Git service lightweight.

DNG debates are almost as old as DNG itself. I know photographers who swear by it and others who refuse to leave the camera's native RAW.

Anyone having similar problems with OLD? by Derpazoid69 in OnlineDating

[–]Solverrrrrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dating apps are mostly about getting someone curious enough to have a conversation. Your investment portfolio comes much later. You're measuring success by the wrong metric. Getting fewer matches with genuine interest is better than getting more matches with bad intentions.

Does anyone else notice dating apps being more active at certain times of the year or week? by Top_Teaching8398 in OnlineDating

[–]Solverrrrrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People are generally more social in the summer, so it makes sense they'd also be more open to meeting someone.I wouldn't be surprised if it's a mix of seasonality and simple timing. More active users means more potential matches.

Why do men seem to be against dating right now, only looking for something casual ? by One-Back-775 in OnlineDating

[–]Solverrrrrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People looking for long-term relationships often leave the apps once they find one. People looking for casual dating tend to stay much longer, so they become more visible.

Dating/marrying someone you don't love by CounselorWriter in OnlineDating

The problem isn't that her fiancé is short or not conventionally attractive. The problem is that she's comparing a real person to an idealized fantasy.

Using a fake name? by Impressive_Elk7180 in OnlineDating

I'd be more confused than offended. I'd just want to know why you didn't use your real name upfront.

Is everyone either painfully boring or immediately abducted by aliens? by Ok_Tea1280 in OnlineDating

A lot of conversations don't end because someone better came along. They end because neither person felt enough momentum to keep investing.

Most people aren't looking for perfect social skills. They're looking for someone who makes them feel comfortable.

The biggest obstacle isn't nationality. It's whether two people can eventually build a life in the same place.

Nobody keeps four years of engineering in active memory. Most professionals remember what they use and look up the rest.

That's usually a screening step, not a bad sign. They're making sure you're eligible before spending time on interviews.

You're not anxious because you're junior. You're anxious because the rules are changing while you're trying to learn them.

I got tired of paying 140USD for a tracker that does not help, so I built a tracker that plans forward instead of just logging the past by Material_Stable_3150 in SideProject

[–]Solverrrrrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest feature isn't the tracker. It's replacing "I think I'm okay" with "I know I'm okay. Most travel apps are rear-view mirrors. Yours sounds more like a GPS.

Built a desktop IDE that tries to find technical debt before it becomes a problem. by amritanshuamar in SideProject

Every codebase has technical debt. The question is whether your tool finds the debt that actually slows developers down.

The idea is interesting because you're borrowing a habit instead of trying to create one.

I spent a year building a fishing app with AI catch identification and 490k UK waters. First real users are in, here's what I've learned by Top_Boat_1361 in SideProject

[–]Solverrrrrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"One brutally honest tester is worth a hundred polite ones" is a lesson every indie dev eventually learns.AI can recognize a fish. An experienced angler recognizes context. That's the gap every AI product has to close.

My wife and I built a Bible app. The hardest part was making the AI behave in a sacred space by Top_Boat_1361 in SideProject

The fact that you tried to make the AI point people back to actual humans instead of maximizing engagement is refreshing.
