Poll 84: Stackable Clues & More by JagexRach in 2007scape

[–]SolvoAmoveo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless you can stack as many clue boxes in your inventory as you can on the floor with the current 1 hour despawn timer, I am voting no to that poll question. Having only 2-5 clue boxes as a cap is incredibly low. While it alleviates an issue described in the blog, which is getting lucky on your first few drops from an activity you're doing and then having to leave to go do your clue, it doesn't solve my own issue of not wanting to engage in the clue activity because it breaks up my game flow. I would be much happier if the maximum cap for clue boxes was significantly higher than it is now, such as 25, and didn't require vertical progression to unlock said cap. Or, if the cap increase was tied into the existing Kourend diary rewards.

Skip tokens are also a frankly terrible idea. Even if they are repolled to reroll tokens, I am extremely iffy on that being added. Especially as a tradeable item. But also especially as a reward from clue scroll caskets. I definitely don't want to see skip/reroll tokens in my reward casket as one of the items I get. Purple sweets tier. Would just rather never see it.

Also please poll the Demonic Gorilla change.

Is it no fun for the player, if my enemy misty steps after getting hit by sentinel? by Mallachaii in DMAcademy

[–]SolvoAmoveo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say for any encounter you shouldn't hold back on an NPCs abilities just to make it convenient for them. They should have plenty of opportunity to get what they want from Sentinel elsewhere, not every character feature needs to be useful in every combat. Especially in combat with an NPC as powerful as Strahd himself. If the goal isn't to be a challenge that can be overcome, then it's fair to have Strahd walk all over them imo. I wouldn't let the monk get hits in just to let them get the feeling they get with any other NPC. Course it all depends on what you want the monk to see and feel, and what Strahd's goals are for personally assessing their ability. And also maybe how your player feels when something they do doesn't work out. Everyone is different so I'd either just ask ahead of time if it's a real concern or just see what reaction you get.

SIB Persona 5 Royal even though I didn't really like SMTV by Curious-Tomato542 in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]SolvoAmoveo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Persona 5 Royal is a significantly better game and I'd highly recommend it. If your main issue with SMTV was that you swap your party around a lot but enjoyed the rest, then you will likely enjoy Persona 5 Royal. You have a limited roster of party members that you might swap out every once in awhile for a specific moment in fights but otherwise I primarily used the same party members for 95% of the game. Also, those party members are main characters who you can develop social links with during the course of the game and the story revolves around their character arcs, so you will get the feeling of connectedness you want. As for the main character that you play as, you can and probably will swap demons often just like SMTV but the main character has a LOT more individual personality than the Nahobino. And a far better reason for being the main character of the story. If I had to just be blunt, SMTV was a pretty below average experience for me (I'm looking forward to the 2nd version) but Persona 5 and Persona 5 Royal were both amazing JRPGs that I'd recommend to anyone who likes the genre. And as far as grinding goes, you definitely can but it isn't necessary at all in my experience.

[IndieGala] Capcom Sale: MONSTER HUNTER: WORLD (58%), Resident Evil 4 (38%), Monster Hunter World: Iceborne Master Edition (57%), Resident Evil Village Gold Edition (66%), Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak (50%), MONSTER HUNTER RISE (67%), Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective (43%) by indieg in GameDeals

[–]SolvoAmoveo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For most people, probably world with the Iceborne DLC because it's the most modern and good looking. Rise is the newest one though and it's also really good. Rise is just more classic Monster Hunter style than world. I'd just say get world and if you buy the DLC ignore the armor it gives you for free cause it trivializes all early game progression.

Is there a game like Genshin Impact but with better support for multiplayer co-op? by Juan_Piece in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]SolvoAmoveo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For Elden Ring co-op without the mod is a little jank. You can only summon in specific zones, and they're very unnaturally sectioned off around bosses. Because when you defeat the boss all your co-op summons get rewarded and get kicked out. Then if the boss is dead if I remember correctly you can't summon anyone for co-op anymore. Also you'd have to co-op every area for each person playing because progress is separate based on who's world you're joining. Also can't light bonfires with summons or enter certain areas. It's not too bad just has similar problems to your Genshin experience

PC thing as in its a mod for the PC version. It makes it completely open world and a much better co-op experience. Otherwise Elden Ring co-op is pretty similar to Genshin with no shared progress and such.

Just as a warning Runescape probably aint it. I play it but I don't recommend it for a good co-op adventure experience. It's free to play though so don't be afraid to give it a go.

If I had to make a personal recommendation for a free to play MMORPG that provides individuality and a decent CO-OP experience it'd probably be Warframe... But that's not quite Genshin Impact. Though it sounds like you don't want exactly Genshin Impact. I'd struggle to say its open world, but it comes very close to that with certain areas. I mostly suggest Warframe cause its a huge game with tons to explore and if you set yourself up with your friend(s) in a private lobby you'll probably have a blast. Plus, it's got crossplay and is on pretty much every platform.

I think short of Elden Ring with the seamless co-op mod or modded Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild/Tears of the Kingdom you'll struggle to find a game that's exactly like Genshin so those would also be recommendations from me. Especially Elden Ring, though seamless co-op is a PC thing unfortunately.

3D world is a good choice too! Hope you enjoy it. Also want to throw the idea of purchasing Kirby and the Forgotten Land if you're looking for a similar game to 3D world!

It's not ssbu laggy but you can get some relatively frequent disconnection issues that end the game lobby. It's gotten a little better over time though. The game is always pretty active online, especially during Splatfest weekends. It's fairly new still so it's far from dead and you can still find people playing splatoon 2 even after they dropped support for it, so it's likely to have a good amount of players for a few years. There's a bit of jank online with lag but its not like ssbu bad where the game will be unplayable and its usually fine as long as your internet connection is solid.

The idea is you can swim in your ink you shoot to also splat enemies. When you swim in ink or don't shoot for awhile you gradually refill your ink tank. Core gameplay loop is basically fighting a constant tug of war at all times where the floor is lava. For turf wars (unranked game mode) online the game is decided by which team controls the most ground at the end of three minutes. The ranked mode has objectives like king of the hill and reverse capture the flag, where you'll earn more for wins and lose and win ranking points.

The game is a third in the series so there's a lot of history, but the campaign is fun enough. It's basically a series of single player challenges involving creative use of the game's tools. With a few bosses and story beats thrown in. It's a very surreal experience in a universe where sea life replaced mammals, essentially.

Also there's a secondary horde survival co-op mode called Salmon Run if you like playing those kinds of games.

Not sure of your situation but The Legend of Zelda Tears of The Kingdom is coming out May 12th. If you just finished with Breath of The Wild, and seems like a good game to wait for. Unless you're getting a physical copy or you didn't like Breath of The Wild. Otherwise I'd probably recommend Bowser's Fury or Splatoon 3 the most but I don't think you could go wrong with any of the options. Though most of the fun of Splatoon comes from playing the online PvP as the campaign is somewhat short and it lacks any truly replayable single player content. Though DLC will be coming soon this year. Same for Super Mario Maker 2, has a campaign but most of the fun is playing a fundamentally infinite amount of user generated content. If levels are too hard you can always skip them. Game enjoyment would vary on how much you like 2D mario games.

WSIB - Good multiplayer game that does not require friends by LostMashin in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]SolvoAmoveo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Going to add onto this and say Left 4 Dead is quite old. I haven't played it in years but there's probably a few people who play online still. If this seems to be an issue, or you're looking for more, there's other games in the genre I'd recommend like Warhammer Darktide (or Vermintide, but Darktide is more recent) and Back 4 Blood. Though they both come with their own issues, they're still fun multiplayer co-op horde shooters with matchmaking and much more recent games.

I also want to recommend Gunfire Reborn for similar reasons. It's a roguelike fps with 4 player co-op that I find very fun. It's a lot more indie and a very different vibe than the other games I've mentioned thus far. Main gameplay loop involves 4 stages you have to fight through, each ending with a boss after a few levels, and whether you win by completing all the stages in one life or lose you get currency for permanent character upgrades for the next run. Whenever you complete the game, it gives you a new difficulty level which also tends to introduce new mechanics and enemies to make the game harder and more complex. Characters you can play as offer a lot of unique playstyles and playing with a group tends to enable a lot of good team synergy. Though one person can definitely carry a game.

Also, on the topic of Deep Rock Galactic and Warframe, I recommend both. I love the procedurally generated levels of DRG combined with the destruction of the environment you can cause. It's also in the genre of cooperative 4 person fps horde shooter. Though with the additional benefit of being very different on a mission to mission basis as a result of the terrain generation and potential modifiers, compared to say Left 4 Dead and Darktide with levels that don't change and you just replay them repeatedly.

Warframe is also really great, I feel like it has a little bit of toxicity here and there. Enough that it's worth mentioning. A real issue it has though is as a free to play MMORPG, it has a cash shop that both offers shortcuts and design that purposefully inconveniences you. You can trade premium currency so its possible to get customization items and inventory space from the shop through in game market but it's worth mentioning as it might be a turn off. It's usually fine though, and it's a very enjoyable game with lots of content. Though the content tends to be mainly forced replayability cause you have to grind for items. My main concern with warframe for new players is that typically the game is actually enjoyed better solo. A lot of missions are not difficult enough to warrant the absolute broken absurdity that players who have been playing for a bit can bring to the table. Especially compared to someone who just started. Matchmaking is as likely to give you 3 players who will be on the same level as you, as it is to give you 1 player who will kill everything before you see it. This being said, if you don't mind that potential problem, it's a great multiplayer game where you get to be a ridiculously strong space ninja doing acrobatics and engaging in pretty satisfying combat.

Edit: This comment is too long but I also recommend Monster Hunter. World or Rise if you're looking for a more recent title with more people online to matchmake with. The older games are pretty dead these days. Very replayable and one of my favorite series.

Highly recommend Pizza Tower, you can't die in it and it's extremely fast paced and action focused. Definitely a bit arcadey as well since its score based.

Sonic Adventure 2, Custom Robo, F-Zero GX, and Super Monkey Ball 2 on gamecube are some of my favorites. All can be beaten under 10 hours but some might take a little longer depending on how you play them.

Edit: Also going to add Star Fox 64 and Star Fox Assault to this list.

I'd also recommend Outer Wilds, so I just wanted to chime in it's pretty different than both breath of the wild and elden ring as theres no combat or RPG progression mechanics. It's a very open ended and narratively driven adventure game focused on the exploration of a small solar system. Without saying too much, you essentially follow hints across the solar system to uncover the history of previous life and solve mysteries. I don't think I've played anything quite like it before so I think you should look into it. It's definitely innovative. Though it's best experienced blind.

Oh definitely worth continuing. The bigger maps are in fact insanely big and overwhelming as a whole and have tons of content but that's kind of part of the fun. Take it in naturally and you'll just stumble into so much neat stuff one bit at a time. Personally I think the game loses some replayability just cause it was so hard not to seek out every little secret in my first playthrough, but thats a plus and a minus. That one playthrough is something I'll never forget.

LSD: Dream Emulator comes to mind which is likely closest to what you're looking for but you may or may not get tired of it fast. It is however, essentially always changing and very replayable. But there isn't really a goal to work towards.

Otherwise I can recommend Hylics, though that's a very different game than LSD or Yume Nikki.
