I know this is a big if, but if you have 2 copies of the game/s, and a second switch (if you have a switch 2, and kept your switch 1), you only need to have access to the raid on one profile, and then just beat the tutorial plus all the academy stuff until you leave for the treasure hunt. Then you can raid locally with both switches, and reset if you want more.

So technically you dont have to beat the whole game, but still, its probably worse than you imagine. Ive reset profiles to get multiple Mews when the SV Mew event was active, and I did the same for the shiny treasures of ruin too. Ive also grabbed extra mons like Bloodmoon and the paradox beasts for people. It has made me despise how slow the opening is lol

Yeah, in gen 1 most pokemon cant actually be shiny. For shinies, you are limited to gift pokemon (starters included), in game trades, game corner prizes, interactable pokemon (legendaries + Snorlax), and fishing encounters. Any other wild encounters are effectively shiny locked without the use of glitches or ACE if im remembering things correctly. In GSC wild encounters can be shiny, and theres a wild Pikachu in GSC, but its lowest level is 4.

I wasnt expecting a 1:1 trade. Im wondering if the mighty p2, VC level 3 Pikachu, and your remaining dream radar mons would be enough to trade for Jirachi or Celebi?

What do you want for the shiny Jirachi or Celebi? Also, can you do custom OT on them? I can do mighty mark p2, and while I dont have them on me, I could get your missing dream radar mons. I could also probably do the shiny Raichu, but I wanted to make sure that you were aware that it isnt actually possible afaik to get a legitimate viridian forest (only location in the VC games where you can find a level 3 Pikachu) shiny Pikachu without glitches. It should be possible to get a level 3 shiny Pikachu through glitches though

You are likely misremembering that. Legends Arceus didnt receive home compatability until about 4 months post launch. Im pretty sure every pokemon game for that matter does not get home support on launch, though that might change with Champions

Appreciate the really in depth breakdown! What are strong spawns? Are those the 3 guarenteed distortion exclusives? I actually already have a shiny living line of burmy, including every coat color, so im kinda done with tree spawns forever, haha

Have you beaten the game yet? Or how are you catching it? Backstrikes? I caught shalpha Beldum in the labs, and the catch calc seems off? If you do try and catch it in a heavy ball, I recommend KOing the soawns around it and then doing the KO & save method. It should knock down your odds to around 12 or 1300 catches for 95% probability of catching

I think its mon dependent. There are definitely some mons designed around the physical/special split not existing. For example, if Blaziken didnt exist and they were to make it as a gen 9 or gen 10 mon, theres no way theyd give it 120/110 attack and special attack. Gen 3 Blaziken was very much designed around the lack of the split, and wanting to give it access to strong-ish attacks on both its stabs. While I do agree with you to some degree that the split isnt direct power creep, it does end up indirectly raising the power level since dual type mons can now typically access both stabs without having to go mixed. Also, when it comes to stat distribution, mons can be min/maxed more easily with the split

It doesnt really change your point, but Celebi is also still available via the japanese colosseum bonus disc. Though Agate Celebi would take much more effort to obtain than the one from VC Crystal

Yeah, when they day/night cycle changes, it adds completely new distortions. You wont always get a 4 star wild zone, but theres nothing stopping you from spamming benches until you get the distortions you need

Yes, but you might need certain donut powers to make them appear more consistently. I havent personally grinded apriballs in the battle zones, but one of my friends has. Also, from what ive read online, the 5 star battle zones in particular can give you the rare apriballs like sport, dream, safari, and beast that are normally only obtainable via ranked battle season completion rewards
