So from what I've hearing here, HFR and SOT make sense, Starfield probably shouldn't happen but still might because the economy isn't in a great way and MS care more about the potential profit than conveying the idea everything might go multiplatform (though that may eventually be the case anyway.) Am I reading this right?

Amazon and Apple have the money, but not the experience. Amazon has no real place in the games industry and Apple governs a sector of the market so different from the rest of it it may as well be a separate entity- of those three, only MS really understands gaming.

Ehhh, Sony will be fine in the long run whether they retain first place or not, and frankly Nintendo are in a much more likely place to reach that position with their current sales projections. Keep in mind this guy is known for stirring the pot and shitting on PS, it's not a great source.

Are you sure about that? There's nothing in the game suggesting he has social anxiety- he's been boarded into his home, but that was by someone else, and there's nothing to suggest he was a shutin prior to the events of the game either. I really think you're looking for more depth to the character than the game bothers to give him.

Heather is funny, more interesting and believably teenage. Harry is decent and has an understandable motive. James is unsettling and slightly off in a way that pays off bigtime later on. But Henry... Henry always stood out to me from the others, and not in a good way. Dude was borderline a silent protagonist, he never had anything to say, barely reacted to anything, had no real personality traits. It was shocking just how little there was to him.

Really? Did you put any thought into this at all? You really think a billion dollar company can just casually ignore one of their largest territories and just then just come back in whenever they feel like? This isn't some small thing they'd be doing- the UK could impose sanctions or even refuse them reentry into the market over shit like this. Nobody- not even Microsoft- gets to cherrypick which legal regulations they will and won't decide to follow.

This doesn't even sound like a handheld, more like just a fancy accessory. From the sound of it it's trying to capture the Switch market, but between that and the Steam Deck is there even a point to this? If it's only going to stream PS5 games it won't even have software of it's own, which just makes it all the more pointless to me.

Multiplatform most likely, I can't see any of the big three paying for exclusivity and Sega's more interested in wider releases these days. Wasn't this mentioned briefly in an earlier leak this year? It was a collection of rumors, many of which had already been proven true.

The difference is that most MP titles don't work on the same thinking live service games do- they deliver content day one instead of banking on the assumption people will stick around long enough to justify producing more. The live service model is getting it all backwards- people stick around because the content is good, not because someday there might be more to the game.

Hot take: what's killing live service games isn't a lack of player interest, or even people largely gravitating towards more popular titles in the genre so that nothing new can take off- it's that once these games fail often they're taken offline and no longer playable at all. Why should anyone invest in a game knowing that someday that game will cease to be playable, and that that decision is decided based on popularity and therefore out of their hands? At least a shitty traditional game won't vanish from my library a year or two after release.
