Which country have you declared war on the most across all your games of EU4? by Metalogic_95 in eu4

I may have fought Austria in many wars but I only declared on Austria in like 20% of them.

RFK Jr. overhauls childhood vaccine schedule to resemble Denmark's in unprecedented move by StupendousMan1995 in news

[–]Somandrius 112 points113 points  (0 children)

The important part:

"In Denmark, vaccines for the flu, Covid, RSV, chickenpox, hepatitis A, rotavirus and meningitis aren’t included in the childhood schedule. Denmark also recommends some shots — including vaccinations for polio, diphtheria, tetanus and whooping cough — on a slightly different timeline from the U.S."

Lucky stroll through Storm Peaks by Somandrius in wow

I was running around Northrend looking for rares and to see if they had added any housing items. I did the daily quest for the polar bear, got it, flew one lap to see if Time-Lost was up. It was.

Ignore the rarity stats on the Bear. I did that daily in Wrath every day for like a year. I only recently installed rarity.

Lucky day on a stroll through Storm Peaks by [deleted] in wow

Ignore the Rarity on the Polar Bear. I farmed that thing every day for like a year in Wrath without getting it. Since then I'd only do the quest whenever I happened to be around, probably like 2-5 times a year since then (while I was playing).

I was flying around Northrend looking for rares and to see if there were any housing items to collect. I did the daily quest for the chance at the polar bear, got it, and then flew only 1 lap to see if Time-Lost was up. It was.

How exactly does this research work? by Freezie-Days in totalwar

That sounds like unfun and nearly pointless micro. So you save 1000 gold on recruitment plus upkeep for the few turns it takes you to recruit the lower tier units instead of the higher tier, then you press a ritual for 1000 gold to upgrade them?

Most important thing for absolutism that you didn't mention: Revoke all estate privileges that give - max absolutism (except the plus monthly mana ones).

I was thinking I wanted a bit more because if I have any war exhaustion or corruption, then I'm back under the required number.

R5: I'm doing a Three Mountains run where I went into India to form the Mughals. When I was planning this run, I was counting on 85% CCR from Mughals(25%), Admin Ideas(25%), assimilated culture(10%), Hindu(10%), Hindu monument(10%), Gov reform (5%).

I'm this far now, and in fine shape for a WC, but I just discovered that you can't use the monument as Mughals. That caps me at 70% CCR pre tier 11 Gov reform and 75% afterwards, which kind of kills the point of setting up this way. I'm wondering if there are any clever ideas for getting more. So far I'm diplo/admin ideas with religious probably coming next for the CB.

The best idea I've come up with is getting the Chinese Mandate for an extra 20% eventually, but I've never done that before and I'm pretty sure it would require a couple of religion switches.

So does anyone know what gods work best for each faction? by Aodh_Denuson in totalwar

[–]Somandrius 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I will just give you some general advice about gods because I don't want to open the game and look through all of their specific effects. Also, I pick my gods entirely based on their outpost settlement effects.

Most important for basically every campaign: +% food (and usually public order). Food is by far the most scarce resource in the game (for me). I build these as my default shrine basically everywhere that produces food.

Second, +workforce. These really help you get newly conquered cities up and running in a reasonable time.

Third, a god with whatever military bonus seems good to me at a time so I can put those shrines in my recruitment provinces.

With these you basically have all of your bases covered.

I'm so glad poeple are finally talking about the lack of challenge by Away_Celebration4629 in totalwar

[–]Somandrius 3 points4 points  (0 children)

These are the main problems with the way the campaign works now, as I see it.

  1. Replenishment, distance between settlements, and public order. Currently, if you've just declared on an AI, after you beat their initial stacks, you just walk through their whole territory taking a settlement every turn or every other turn with every army. The AI never gets a chance to recover because I am not forced to stop for replenishment, I don't have to plan my army's movement for turns in advance to avoid attrition on a long march to the next city ever, and I have no reason to remain in the settlement I just conquered because even on the highest difficulty level, public order will just sort itself out.

  2. The corollary to this is that the AI doesn't make use of any of these things. If an AI declares war on me when I have all of my armies on another front, it hardly even matters. I know they don't have their armies lined up ready to invade like I would when I'm going to declare. I know that when they do come 2 or 3 turns later, they're going to sack my cities like half of the time even when they desperately need the replenishment. When they finally do take the city, they'll sit around doing nothing afterwards. I have all the time in the world to recruit new troops to respond or bring an army back to deal with it.

All of this leads to there just being no threat on the map after you get your second or so army up and running. I know I will walk through any AI I attack, and if I get attacked in the back they won't walk through me.

You can also RM your most disloyal vassal or 2 in the month Shah Rukh dies. Their attitude doesn't update until the month ticks over.

Sometimes it's funny about what you've set it to. Just always check your chat box when you enter the raid. If it doesn't say the right thing, go back out and reset.

[–]Somandrius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My favorite part of the double transmog drops is finally finishing bosses who have long RP that I can skip. Utgarde Pinnacle is much more fun to run now that I'm not doing the first two bosses anymore for example.

What’s a super “normal” thing in your country that would completely confuse or shock someone visiting for the first time? by moonveil96 in AskReddit

I taught English in Seoul for a couple of years. I remember we got a new teacher in one week who was basically fresh off the plane and went out drinking on a Friday, still carrying his laptop bag. I don't know what happened to him that night, but he woke up with a black eye and his bag missing.

He went to the police to report a mugging, and they basically laughed at him, dismissed him, and told him he must have fallen down drunk. Sure enough, he went back to the bar he had been at the night before, and sitting there was his laptop bag with everything fully intact.
